The patio has a fire pit and atmospheric exterior lighting that can be turned off for star-gazing, as there is very little light pollution. The front garden has up-light illumination for the trees providing a magical touch to evenings on the deck.

The house has a fully-equipped brand new open-plan kitchen with breakfast bar that connects with the indoor and outdoor dining areas. Host profile image
I am a widely-travelled British citizen who has lived and worked in multiple countries in the film industry as a writer, director, and producer. I have also edited, composed music scores, songs and jingles, and have acted small roles in some of my productions. Some of the better known movies I directed are Mute Witness (with an appearance by Sir Alec Guinness), American Werewolf in Paris (with Julie Delpy), The Guilty (starring Bill Pullman), and more recently, The Piper (starring Elisabeth Hurley) in which I play a small role as Elisabeth's husband!! The summer shed in Hatherlow's garden is home to some poster artwork and storyboards from past movies that might interest some guests.

Why they chose this property

Hatherlow has been in the family since 1991. The recent renovations and extensions in 2025 gave it a new lease of life as a holiday rental property. My parents moved there from Cheddar where we also had a family home since the early 60's, but our attachment with Somerset goes even further back, as my father was born in Street, near Glastonbury, even though I personally have lived and worked most of my life abroad - Lebanon, Germany, USA, Russia, Holland, South Africa, France, Monaco - to name but a few.

What makes this property unique

Hatherlow feels like an oasis of peace and tranquility, yet is only a short walk from the town centre in a charming village steeped in history that has a thriving community boasting plenty of attractions and activities throughout the year.
