About this property
Cabell Cottage Offers The Perfect Getaway.
Cabell Cottage, located in eastern Bath County, Virginia, comfortably sleeps 6 or can be the perfect romantic getaway. We offer three beautifully appointed bedrooms, living room, dining room and several amenities, such as TV, a small stereo with iPod docking station and high speed internet, a fully equipped kitchen with dishes, utensils and cookware and a laundry area with full size washer and dryer.
Whether you are looking for a quiet place to relax and get away from the routine of daily life or you seek a special place to recharge and reconnect with loved ones, a visit to Cabell Cottage, located on the pristine waters of the Cowpasture River, offers the ideal escape. During the summer months we are a thriving girls’ camp; the rest of the year we are the ideal getaway with a host of recreational offerings and gracious accommodations found in our cozy residence, Cabell Cottage.
Please send me a message if you are interested in booking more than 6 months out.
If you have a larger group, please contact us about additional housing.
Guests will have access to the scenic river frontage - great for swimming, canoeing or tubing. Guests may also enjoy tennis, basketball, volleyball and nearby hiking.
Guests will have access to the scenic Cowpasture River frontage - great for swimming, canoeing or tubing. Guests may also enjoy hiking, basketball, tennis and volleyball. (The net on the tennis court will be taken down to store for the winter months)
If you plan on taking a canoe out on the river, we ask that you wear a PFD at all times and to canoe upstream and float back down and to get out at our beach area (where you put in). There is nowhere to pull out as you go downstream as it leads to private property. Please place the canoe back on the rack when you are done. We do have PFD’s that will fit a teenager however, you may want to bring your own to make sure you have one that fits correctly for an adult or small child. The river is within a short walk. We ask people not to park in the grass or down at the river.
Other things to note:
This is a tobacco free property. Smoking is strictly prohibited anywhere on the grounds or inside buildings.
We have a great deal of respect for nature and do not allow fishing or hunting on the property and firearms are not allowed on the property at any time.
This is not a pet friendly home.
Please do not ride bikes, skateboard, or roller skate on the tennis and basketball courts.
Bath County has a 10:00pm noise ordinance. Please be respectful of our neighbors and other families staying in the rentals close by.
The posted speed limit on the campgrounds is 10 m.p.h.
Verizon works well. AT&T is spotty. We do have Wifi you can connect to.
We are located near the historic towns of Hot Springs and Warm Springs and the old railroad hamlet of Clifton Forge. Nearby attractions include: The Omni Homestead Resort, Garth Newel Music Center, the Masonic Theater, Douthat State Park, Lake Moomaw and Hidden Valley Recreation Area (located in the George Washington National Forest). Additional recreational opportunities abound with numerous hikes and scenic drives throughout the Alleghany Highlands. For shoppers, there are art galleries, antique stores and boutique shops of all types. There are many excellent dining options should you wish to go out, including: The Waterwheel Restaurant, Fort Lewis Lodge (seasonal), Sam Snead’s Tavern, Jefferson’s, Les Cochons d’Or, the Main Dining Room at The Omni Homestead, Jack Mason’s Tavern, the Milk House Market (lunch only), Cucci’s at The Varsity, etc. Snowshoe Ski Resort is less than two hours away in nearby West Virginia.
