The perfect Cape May beach house! Screened-in porch + private backyard oasis
Welcome to your ultimate Cape May beach vacation home! Our recently renovated beach house is only 8 short blocks away from the beach (only a 5 minute bike ride or quick 15 minute walk!). We are also very close to the heart of Cape May where all the action is - less than a mile or a 20 minute walk to all of the restaurants and shops that Cape May has to offer! Our home is decorated with a beach and nautical theme so you will truly feel like you are "down' the shore!" Our 3 bedroom, 2 full bath house can comfortably sleep 6 adults. The primary bedroom has a queen size bed and its own bathroom. Bedroom 1 has 2 twin beds and Bedroom 2 has bunk-beds. The shared/second hallway bathroom has a washer and dryer so you can easily take care of your laundry while on vacation. The full kitchen comes complete with everything you would need to cook a full meal during your stay! The best part of the house is certainly the back screened in porch, which opens to a private, backyard oasis - a perfect spot for relaxing after a long day of fun and sun at the beach! There is also an outdoor shower on the side of the house to take care of sand from the beach. This house has been in our family for a long time and we have enjoyed many amazing memories at Cape May together. We are excited to share our beach home with you so can make memories of your own! Look forward to hosting you soon.

We enjoyed a very nice stay here. The location was great, the neighborhood is quiet and it's close to the beach, restaurants etc. The house is exactly as described and has everything needed for a comfortable stay. Communication with the hosts was very easy and clear instructions regarding everything were provided. Overall an excellent experience!
Absolutely adorable house. Kept clean and super convenient to a ton of fun things (beach, shops, restaurants, mini golf, lighthouse, dolphin cruise, wineries). They recommend bringing your own linens, which was fine considering how nice the house was otherwise.
Great little house! Quiet neighborhood, ten minute walk to the beach. Kitchen is well stocked for cooking. Host recommends that you bring your own sheets and towels—not a huge deal, but wish I had known earlier!
We had a wonderful stay in Cape May and this home was one of the cleanest homes we have ever stayed in. The home instructions were very clear and straight forward. It was a 1 mile walk to Washington St and close to beach. The owners were very easy to communicate with and timely with responses leading up to vacation. We had not a single issue during our stay. Thank you!
We had a wonderful stay at the Ryan's beach house. The house was very clean, cozy, and had plenty of room for our family of four. The outdoor shower (with hot water) was extremely convenient and we loved the screen porch. We would definitely like to stay here again!
Our family of four had a wonderful time at this place. The property is very clean, roomy, and well decorated. The screened in porch was a very nice addition and enjoyable in the evenings. The place is well stocked and communication with the owners is quick and easy. It’s a short bike ride to the beach and downtown areas of Cape May. We will definitely stay here again!
We had a great weekend (despite a tropical storm)staying in this lovely, comfortable home. Conveniently located in Cape May-can’t wait to come back in the near future!
Special thanks to Brett!
Wonderful time with our older children and our 3 year old grandson. House was very comfortable- loved the screened in porch, outdoor shower, and the cozy family room. Made some great memories this week. Thanks to the Ryans for extending their home to us.
Loved being close to beach and downtown but not in crowds. We had a bunch of beach equipment so drove a few blocks and found free parking on the street very near beach. Loved the screened back porch and fully stocked kitchen. Owner was responsive and friendly.
The Ryan's beach home was perfect for my family! We loved the nautical decor and the screened in porch. We spent many evenings out there ...playing cards or enjoying a cocktail after a busy beach day. We would highly recommend staying at this property. We plan to rebook for summer 2021.
Thanks for everything!

A nice, clean house that is on the right side of a split home. A very nice screened in porch and great sound system for music. We slept 5 comfortably, and the owners were very responsive to our communications. It is about a 15-20 minute walk to beach, but you can drive and park for free a block or 2 from the beach. We walked back from downtown area each night and that was about 25 minutes. Would definitely stay again!
In a lovely, quiet neighborhood about 7 blocks from the ocean, my family of four (2 parents and 2 adult sons) throughly enjoyed staying in this tidy, well-appointed home! My sons each had their own room and shared a hall bathroom (which also included a washer and dryer). My husband and I had the master suite, with Queen size bed and our own bathroom. Kitchen and living room were comfortable and well kept. The screened in porch at the back of the house was the perfect place to unwind at the end of the day. We also appreciated the outdoor shower and the hose to wash the sand off our feet when we came back from the beach. Check-in was super easy--we got instructions from Kevin and Brett a few days before we left for Cape May, and they were always reachable if we had any questions/concerns. All in all, a delightful stay on Illinois Ave! Our thanks to our hosts!
It pains me to write a review like this, however being a homeowner myself, I feel that it would be unfair to not warn future guests. First, communication with this owner is non-existent. After booking, we did not hear from them until 11am on the day of check in, when we were already on the road to Cape May. At that point, we received a 2 page detailed list of cleaning duties for check out, on top of a cleaning fee we paid upfront. It was even to the extent of us having to scrub toilets and showers.
Then, once we arrived, we noticed that all the trash bins on the side of the house were already full of trash, with flies all around. Add to that the fact that the screened in porch was torn in multiple places, so the flies from the trash were constantly flying in, making the porch unusable.
We were only there for 2.5 days, so it was a short visit, but in that time one of the women in our group went to use the toilet, and as she put up the lid, the base of the toilet cracked off. I assume that this type of break is a rare occurrence, since I've never seen it happen. When we showed the pictures to multiple plumbers in our area, then said that it looked as if the bolts at the bottom of the tank had been overtightened, which would EVENTUALLY lead to the tank shattering (it would likely give no prior warning). Without having taken the tank lid off upon check in, we would have never known that this event was imminent, however unseen. When we immediately contacted the owner, they did not get back to us at all. 10 hours later, they called and said they'd send someone out to 'look at it' (I had already sent pictures). Someone came out, left us a note and left. No resolution. The next day came and went and nothing was said to us, and nothing was fixed. We now had 6 women using 1 functional bathroom.
Finally, again with no communication prior, the owner held our entire security deposit. When I reached out with a detailed message and listed a few other items that needed to be discussed, they did not respond. 2 days later after I again followed up, and then they sent a very short message ignoring the entire conversation and blaming us for the toilet cracking. Even after we had professional opinions regarding how it likely happened.
The house itself was cute and had potential, however we travel very frequently using rental by owner properties and unfortunately this was the most disappointing stay and owner contact we have ever had.

Dear Christina, We take great pride in our family's home and we are always on top of everything as shown by previous reviews. This is the very first time we have faced an issue with a guest and had damage caused to our home. This is the first and only security deposit that hasn't been returned in full. As you can see from other reviews, our house is always kept very clean, we are responsive, and all other guests have truly enjoyed their visit to our home in Cape May and the interactions with our family. You didn't contact us until you broke the toilet during your stay. The toilet bowl and tank were shattered, and there is no way this could happen without a severe impact to the toilet. We sent a family member over to the home immediately after your call to inspect the situation and found that the damage was most certainly caused by the party occupying the house and not a spontaneous occurrence. We had to go out and purchased a new toilet and paid to have it installed. Unfortunately we had to keep your $300 security deposit, which actually didn't even cover the entirety of the expense. Furthermore, VRBO and your own credit card processing company have both rejected your false claims and supported the fact that you broke the toilet during your stay and should be help responsible. It was a very difficult situation to deal with and we apologize that you don't feel that you should be held responsible for property damage. Hopefully other property owners will not experience this when renting to you in the future. We're looking forward to another fun season with great renters in Cape May for 2020!
