About this property
2 Bed in Penmaenpool (oc-p32333)
Bursting with charm and character, this 18th-century Welsh farmhouse offers a welcome retreat in the southern reaches of Eryri/Snowdonia National Park. Sleeping four guests, this dog-friendly property provides a superb base for couples and small families that love the great outdoors. With easy access to mountain trails, seaside towns and a wealth of thrilling activities, a stay here invites you to make the most of Snowdonia’s diverse landscapes.
Built in 1760, this Grade II-listed, detached stone cottage offers a rich Welsh heritage and a very warm welcome. Kick off muddy books in the handy utility room, before venturing into the atmospheric lounge. With exposed stone walls, a crackling wood burner and comfortable seating, this is an inviting space to unwind, stream your favourite TV shows or plan the next day’s adventures. When tummies start to rumble, you’ll find the stylish kitchen/diner has all the essentials to prepare home-cooked feasts, before settling around the window-side dining table to share good food and conversation. Two charming bedrooms provide flexible accommodation; choose between a spacious zip-and-link super-king-size (which can be made up as a twin on request), and a pretty double with a separate dressing room. An elegant bathroom with a freestanding bathtub invites a leisurely soak at the start or end of each day. Relax and have fun in the enclosed garden, which features a wood-fired hot tub, a BBQ and a fire pit. Private parking for four cars adds to the convenience.
Lace up your hiking boots and set off the explore the Mawddach Trail, a walking and cycling route tracing the Mawddach Estuary, or set off into the mountains in search of adventure. World-renowned mountain biking at Coed-y-Brenin (8.5 miles), Zip World and the National White Water Centre (both 24 miles) all offer plenty of thrills, while Barmouth (10.5 miles) invites a classic day at the seaside.
