About this property

3 Bed in Reeth (oc-l32438)

Overlooking Reeth’s beautiful village green and a brief amble from its friendly stores, inns and eateries, this end-of-terrace cottage makes a great base for outdoorsy guests. The largest village in Upper Swaledale, Reeth sits within a landscape of field barns and drystone walls but is best-known for its contribution to England’s lead industry, with many mining remains nearby. Learn more about them at the Swaledale Museum, just metres from your doorstep, or at the Countryside & Heritage Centre in Keld (12.5 miles). Unique in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the low-level Swale Trail cycle route runs between the two villages. If you prefer to explore on foot there are numerous walks to enjoy too, including the Corpse Way from Reeth to the tiny village of Grinton, a mile south, which for hundreds of years had the only church and Christian burial ground in the area. Eleven miles east, Richmond offers a further step back in time with its iconic castle, historic buildings and cobbled marketplace.

Skilfully renovated and featuring chic, contemporary furnishings, this fabulous holiday home welcomes you with a small entrance porch that’s the perfect place to wipe-off muddy paws and walking boots. Head further inside and you’ll find a choice of two comfortable lounge areas. In the main sitting room a Smart TV and wood burner suggest convivial evenings with home-style entertainment; the adjacent snug-style reading room will suit anyone who wants to settle somewhere quieter. There’s space for everyone to gather in the stylish kitchen/diner, which has all the essentials for fuss-free self-catering and is complemented by a handy utility room with cloakroom facilities. When it’s time to sleep, three blissful bedrooms await on the first floor. The master double has its own en-suite shower room, while the second double and a single room share use of the main family-style bathroom. For late-night movies or morning news updates, each bedroom has its own TV.

There’s a cobbled area with lovely village views to the front of the cottage, its bench seating supplemented by an additional fold-away table and chairs that are stored indoors. If you bring bicycles they can be kept safe in the utility area, and the off-road parking space for two cars allows you to explore Reeth and its surrounds at your leisure.
