About this property
2 Bed in Dolgellau (oc-wah671)
This beautiful Grade-II listed stone cottage in the centre of the historic market town of Dolgellau in the southern Snowdonia National Park is ideal for a couple or family or friends looking for a relaxing holiday. Dolgellau is situated at the foot of Cader Idris and offers many opportunities for walking and cycling, climbing and mountain biking. The town is within a mile and half walk of the remains of historic Cymer Abbey, founded in 1198 in the nearby village of Llanelltyd.
A welcoming two-storey house that retains original features such as beamed ceilings and slate floors but is also equipped with all the contemporary comforts for a memorable stay. On the ground floor is the kitchen and dining area with a slate floor and an original ornamental stone fireplace, making this a lovely space to prepare and enjoy meals together. A stable door leads out to the rear yard. The snug sitting room has comfortable seating, a TV, and a cosy wood burner for cooler evenings. Upstairs you’ll find a contemporary bathroom and two bedrooms - one double and one twin. There is a small private unenclosed yard with patio furniture where you can enjoy a morning brew or a cool drink in the afternoon while you admire the views.
The location is ideal for walkers and for discovering the lesser-known southern Snowdonia National Park. Dôl Idris Car Park for walks up Cader Idris is 8 miles away. The Mawddach Trail allows for off-road walking or cycling and leads to Barmouth. For beach lovers and water sports enthusiasts, visiting the coast at Fairbourne (9 miles) or Barmouth (10 miles) is a must. Or discover the Corris Craft Centre with nine different craft workshops or go underground with the Corris Mine Explorers to learn about life in the Victorian slate mines near Machynlleth (16 miles).
