A lovely looking property in a first-rate location. Unfortunately, staying at the property did not match the initial impressions. The bedrooms do not have curtains or black-out blinds. We stayed there during the early part of June when the sun comes up before 5AM. The master bedroom’s main window faces east and, due to the translucent nature of the window coverings, the whole room Is bathed in light from the very early hours. So, unless you are used to sleeping in the middle of a field, it would be best to avoid this house during the summer. Also, the house is cold. Our visit coincided with a cool spell of weather for June. The notes available for the property stated the underfloor heating is set to ensure comfort and that the temperatures cannot be changed, however, having to wear our coats to watch TV in the evening is not our idea of being comfortable. There were a number of other niggles, probably associated with the house being a rental – there were lots of cobwebs in the corners of rooms, pretty much all the door hinges squeaked (which we addressed), half of the soap dispenser were empty, there is a damaged end panel in the laundry, the light in the master bedroom wardrobe doesn’t work correctly. While none of these are a real problem they, perhaps, do indicate that the property is not well looked after and the two major shortcomings identified above are all about penny-pinching. We did notice that the doors to the downstairs bedroom had been left unlocked on our arrival. It would be sad if this was deliberate in the hope that we wouldn’t notice, meaning that the house would be accessible once we had unpacked our valuables.

Thank you for your review and we are sorry you were unhappy with your accommodation. Our photos do accurately show the cottage and show that none of the windows have curtains only blinds. The owners are new to holiday letting this year and are keen to improve their service to guests and have taken your comments on board and are looking to install curtains or black out blinds in the bedrooms. Whilst the curtains could not have been a quick fix had you informed us of your other issues we would have been happy to address these for you whilst you were there. We are sorry Mindrum did not live up to your expectations but hope we can welcome you back to one of our other cottages in the future.
