On Saturday morning in the summer, you'll find shoppers milling around the farmers market, locals chatting in the coffee shops , and children and adults alike beach walking and bicycling. Spencer Spit State Park, Shark Reef, Ice Berg Point and MacKaye Harbor are just a few of the must see places on the Island.

All 3 days, we had a peaceful, quiet time with a great view. There are lots of inviting seating spaces outside all around the house (rain or shine) and very comfortable sitting inside along with a comfy bed. Everywhere clean and tidy. Very nice place to be on the island.
Really amazing place. Great value! Location is lovely. Very peaceful. The property manager is incredibly helpful…and available! Easy walk to the beach.
What a lovely place! We had a great time at the McBarron Cottage,It is in a beautiful location, perfect for basing out of for exploring the southend of the island via bike. The cottage is nicely decorated, loved the artwork throughout the home. Furnishings in living room, bedroom and kitchen, all were very comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on back covered porch to eat and birdwatch in the morning and evening. The owner and the property manager were very nice We would definitely like to return here in the future.
We have stayed in this property several times now. It has all the necessities for living comfortably, plus a lot of fascinating art works! And we love the south end location, which is close to my daughter and her family. It was lovely to be able to spend Christmas with my family. Thank you!
Beautiful home, well-appointed, friendly and easy-to-communicate-with host. Perfect little outdoor grill, too! We walked all around, over to McKay Harbor and Agate Beach, lovely views and very quiet area. Having puzzles or a deck of cards would be a nice touch.

We thank You folks very much for choosing to stay with us folks. Your idea about cards was great and they are there now! It was a pleasure to share this beautiful island with you!
I needed a place to unwind after a couple of hard weeks at work. McBarron Cottage was it. It wasn't everything I expected – notably, the wood stove is cosmetic only and cannot be used – but it was cozy, and the sunsets were amazing. Excellent stargazing.
Comfortable and pleasant house on the south end of Lopez Island
Besides being comfortable and beautifully located with a distant view of water featuring lovely sunsets, the house has many beautiful glass and other artworks. The manager promptly and effectively took care of one problem we had. Once again we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this property. We have now spent 5 weeks in it!

So glad your enjoyed your stay. The sunsets are pretty amazing. Come back soon!
Very cute and clean property with a fully stocked kitchen. The bed was comfortable, the shower had good pressure and the living room furniture was extremely comfortable. It was nice to have a washer dryer. The evening sunsets were the best part! I would absolutely stay again. Although it is on the south side of the island it does not take long to get to town. Although I had no cell service I was able to work using the wifi that was good enough for me to participate in a 2 hour zoom meeting with no issues. The host was very responsive and made sure we had everything we needed. 10/10
A beautiful property. Lovely views. Private and serene. Great location. Cozy with great art pieces in each room as well as outside to enjoy. Great out door deck areas! Really enjoyed listening to the birds in the morning, saw a baby fawn , and several bald eagles and seals swimming in the harbour. Everything you need! We hope to stay here anytime we plan to come to the island. Highly recommend.

Thanks for the review. So glad you enjoyed your stay! We feel the same way about this
little hideaway.
We have stayed at this South Lopez VRBO several times and enjoy the beautiful distant view of McKay Harbor with its glorious sunsets. Last time we saw a large owl on top of the umbrella pole about 15 ft. from the sliding glass doors, and this time we saw a great blue heron high-stepping along the close fence line. Two magnificent birds! These sightings have added to the charm of our visits to this cozy, comfortable, well-appointed rental.
We had the most wonderful stay on Lopez. The property is located on the South end of the island and we took a taxi from the ferry terminal to the place (and had bikes delivered from Village Cycles to use throughout our stay). The property is beautiful - a little cottage amid the woods and farmlands. The bed is extremely comfortable and we slept so well. Fans in every room to keep cool. The kitchen has your basic items - dishes, pots and pans - nothing fancy, but has what you need. We loved relaxing outside in the chairs looking out onto the sunset and the water. Within walking distance to a beach and easy to bike to many hikes and other beaches.

Thanks for letting us know how much you enjoyed your stay! We aim to please!
Overall, it was very successful. We really enjoyed it and the sunsets were fantastic. We found a few things that would improve others’ experience. There is a small tripping hazard on the living room rug. The three sets of stairs would benefit from handrails. A standard size tv would be nice. The lighting was really substandard. The kitchen would benefit from sharpened knives.

Thanks for your comments. Easy fixes for us! Not surprised after the summer, our knives have to be sharpened!
Glad you enjoyed those beautiful sunsets!
This property is very well located in a quiet area with lovely views of water and sunset. It is cozy. Just right for 2 adults. The kitchen tools need some upgrading especially knives for cooking so you don’t bludgeon everything you try to cut or slice. Most disappointing was that neither shower was functional. We managed but won’t stay here again unless these issues are remedied. Too bad because southern part of island is terrific for kayaking and the cottage itself was very comfortable.

Sorry to hear about the shower. This is the first time hearing a guest had any issues. We appreciate your feedback and will take care of this immediately. (The kitchen knives, utensils as well) As you can see from our reviews, we take care of any problems brought to our attention>
Thanks for the feedback.
The house is on a farm, in a very quiet private road. We love the quietness and the openness of the farm. Fun to stroll around the farm and look at the trees. Short distance to Iceberg and Watmough bay. Took about 10 minutes for us to e-bike to either places. Place is very clean. Water pressure is very low in 1 of the bathrooms, but was fine in the other one. We talked to James and Steve. They were super nice gentlemen. The place doesn’t allow bikes inside the house, but there’s a covered front porch that you can park your bikes. There’s also an outdoor electrical outlet to charge your e-bikes.
