I can’t give enough stars to this fabulous home! The accomodations were great- great communication with host. We had this as home base for 10 days… a local chef named Serena is available to hire if you book early enough. She prepared three amazing dinners for us! the courtyard in back with the vista of Tuscany was amazing. Miles and miles of vineyards, estates, beautiful gardens. Please book here if you have the chance, a visit of a lifetime!
This was an excellent rental and one of our best stays ever of the 30 years we have been coming to Castellina. The house was typically rustic Tuscan but very well supplied with everything we might need, including good Internet access, excellent bathrooms, an impressive separate sitting room with our own patio and small garden with the most exceptional views over the surrounding Tuscan countryside we quite possibly have ever seen. There were communal gardens and huge, modern pool, both exceptionally well maintained.
The owner, Ian, had been very helpful in advance of our stay, and the manager, Jacky, arranged early access for us as the house had been vacated the day before our arrival. We really appreciated this and she ensured we had a great stay throughout. Probably most importantly of all, she arranged for a local chef, Serena, to provide us with dinner on our first night. We had no idea what time Serena was due to arrive nor how much she would cost nor what she would cook (she was warned in advance about food intolerances). We would come back here just to have Serena cook for us again. She was charming and produced waves of the most outstanding food we have ever had in Italy whilst we sat on the terrace drinking Prosecco. The fruit and vege were all her own and astonishingly, she was about half the cost of an average meal out. We would have paid twice that or more and she came back three days later to cook for us again. If we came back, we'd book Serena every night!
We had a superb holiday at the Villa. The views were amazing and the historical character of the villa was incredible. The pool and surroundings were stunning. The location was excellent.
Wonderful stay here. View from garden is beautiful over rolling hills for sunsets. Pool is magnificent and set on ridge with 270 degree views, quite something in the evening. Pool and tennis shared with 3-4 other families but pool is big enough to cope with that. Fans in rooms just about make up for no air con, was 37 when we were there. Communication with Ian and Jacky was great. 5-10mins drive up unmade road very dusty but not too bumpy. Serena cooked for us one night which was really good. Castellina lovely with lots of restaurants. 20-30mins drive to Siena, San Gimignano and Monteriggioni, all amazing.
We have spent a fabulous 10 days with our 3 kids at Le Bagnaie. The house is a real jewel, the view from the terrace absolutely unique and the resort with its gardens, historic walls, pool (quote our kids “best private pool ever seen”) and tennis court is just amazing - the perfect place to relax! The house has a real historic flair and is perfectly equipped - don’t expect full 2025 technical standard but we really did not miss anything. Strong and stabile W-LAN appears to be a general issue at Le Bagnaie. If we would express one tiny wish: new garden furniture would bring the cherry to the cake for this amazing house.Le Bagnaie is an excellent spot to discover the wonderful towns and villages in the surrounding with all its cultural goods, restaurants and shops. Florence, Siena and San Gimignano are easy to reach. Castellina in Chianti was our next door favorite. But you will definitely need a car - next village (with shops/restaurants) about 15min drive. The dirt roads that connect to Le Bagnaie and other resorts are a bit of an adventure - don’t come with a freshly polished car ;-) It was also a pleasure to meet the resort manager who very nicely welcomed us and the local gardener who passed by for a chat here and then and brought fresh homegrown vegetables from Le Bagnaie garden. Direct email contact with the house owner was also very pleasant and helpful. We would have loved to stay longer and will certainly come back! 10 out of ten! Reality even better than pictures!
We felt a bit misled by the listing. It wasn’t disclosed that WiFi was sporadic at best; nonexistent at worst. The delightful “living room” with the “fireplace” shown in the photos, was in a detached building, completely unusable in March. We also had a 100 weekly fuel charge that wasn’t disclosed. But the view from the patio over the Tuscan Hills was spectacular, especially as Spring arrived. DO have Serena cook dinner for you! She is a treasure! 100 for
Nous avons trouvé un lieu magnifique. La maison est aussi belle que sur les photos. Il y a tout le confort souhaité et tout pour un séjour de rêve.Et je ne parle pas de cette terrasse et de sa vue époustouflante. On a envie de revenir !
Wonderful Stay. Incredible view. Outstanding! It is worth to stay there, just for the view over Tuscanny.
The complete complex is wonderful, the swimming pool fantastic. The pictures don’t illustrate
How beautiful it is.
It is not easy to find on the map. As we had temperatures above 36 every day, we missed aC in the rooms. But our kids handled it quite well.
This is wonderful property in the Chianti area with breathtaking views from the terrace. It is also near to many interesting places to visit in the day. The property gardens and shared pool are excellently maintained and it makes for a restful holiday with nothing wanting.
The property, Le Bagnaie, is wonderful. Rustic Tuscan but with many modern conveniences. The scenery, as you can imagine, is breathtaking, from early morning laborers in the never ending vineyards to the special glow of sunset behind San Gigmiano.
Rained some during our stay but we, being from Arizona, found the change invigorating.
Every week we had Senora Serena come in and cook a multicourse dinner using local incredients. Wonderful - .ake a point of engaging her if you can.
Firenze and Siena are super busy and crowded but there are so many other wonderful places not yet totally overcome with we tourists. Give them a try. Castall
Thank you Jacky, Ian and Serena for enabling us to have a wonderful stay. Pool provided welcome relief from heat.
Serena provided two wonderful meals. If you want to be away from the tourist bustle this is ideal.
We are two couples on vacation and decided to stay in this villa our first week in Italy. The place is very spacious with more than adequate kitchen space for cooking. We did not cook but ate out but it was well equipped. The villa was spotless when we arrived. There are 3 nice size bedrooms with 3 baths which were great. There is a nice size pool with tennis courts. The view of the vineyards was wonderful and the sunsets each night breathtaking. Jacky, the manager could not have been more helpful. We loved our time at the villa and highly recommend!!
Ian is a Prince and Jacky an absolute Princess. Words insufficient to describe this magnificent property and all that accompanied the experience of being there for almost two weeks. Incredible Autumn views across endless vineyards with colors changing daily. Charming villages, one after another, provide memories for a lifetime. Every glance in every direction is a picture postcard. Anyone experiencing this incredible property will have it etched in memory as if chiseled in stone. Move Heaven and Earth if need be, but Just Do It!
Wonderful stay at Le Bagnaie, Castellina in Chianti
With all the recent uncertainty about travel, we feel priviledged to have made it to Ian's property for a 2 week stay. Amazing views from the large, private garden, the property has loads of character and has obviously been a well-loved family getaway. Our children loved the large solar-heated pool with diving board which never felt crowded and we met some very friendly guests of various nationalities from the other properties, both owners and fellow lets. We often had the whole pool area to ourselves but this may be because this is not a normal year. Our host and the complex manager, Jacky, were so informative and kept in touch throughout. The directions from Pisa airport to the property were spot on which was useful as it was dark before we even left Pisa in our Fiat 500 L hire car (a good choice and spacious) and our satnav didn't cope at times.Have faith towards the end of the journey, the last 6-7 minutes is a pretty rough track (not a word to the car hire people)! The many surrounding world-famous and beautiful sights are easily accessible by car or train. You definitely need a car to get around, including to supermarkets (large ones in Poggibonsi and closer, very adequate ones in Castellina in Scala or Staggia). Word of warning about mosquitoes which seem to be a problem throughout Tuscany; it's worth bringing repellent with you.
We'd highly recommend the services of Serena, who came to cook for us on a couple of occasions, arranged for us by Jacky - delicious food! All in all, we've had a great time and would totally recommend. Two weeks flew by and we could have done with a few more. Thanks to all who looked after us.
Not long back from a 2 week stay in this authentic Tuscan property. The spot is absolutely stunning with unending views of the surrounding Tuscan countryside and vineyards. The highlight of every evening were our beautiful sunsets which did not disappoint!
The property benefits from a private garden , with use of a lovely communal pool (also surrounded by stunning views and well maintained grounds) and an excellent tennis court. We stayed in late August and although most of the neighbouring properties were occupied, it still was not busy at the poolside. It is a truly relaxing place and would recommend if you want to get away from the 'daily grind'!
Jacky the manager was just lovely, always contactable for any issues and was full of local knowledge with excellent recommendations for places to eat and visit etc. The house itself is largely on one level with a few steps around the place, but no significant stairs. In my opinion, it has loads of character and a homely feel, with en suite bathrooms off all 3 bedrooms which were great for the kids.
The property is well situated to visit a host of beautiful towns, villages and attractions just a short drive away, and all the amenities you need to manage your self catering. (You will need a car to stay at this place, but the views when you get there are well worth the journey!) I would also recommend booking 'Serena' to come and cook for you at least once during your stay (This woman is an AMAZING cook and a thoroughly lovely lady who let my kids help cook traditional Italian food with her!)
This is the first time we have experienced a family holiday in Tuscany - it did not disappoint and we will most definitely be returning at some point soon!
Nous avons pleinement profité de notre séjour dans cette maison située dans une propriété extêmement bien soignée munie d'une grande piscine commune aux 8 maisons.
La région du Chianti offre des activités variées....une expérience à renouveler.
Great property, with great views and magical scenery. Loved every minute of our stay. Throughly recommend a break at this property. Doug & Lesley.

An excellent trip to Chianti
The house has an absolutely spectacular view. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The pool is fantastic with a view of the valley. Lots of good restaurants nearby. We had a fantastic stay and cannot recommend this place highly enough.
