This beachfront home is ready to welcome your family. Enjoy all that Prime Hook Beach has to offer from sunrise on the bay to sunset over the wildlife refuge. Imagine having breakfast looking out at the bay, swimming with the family right off your deck, watching a beautiful sunset and then having a bonfire under the stars on a private beach. This home features a large kitchen that opens to the living room and dining room overlooking the bay. The house comfortably sleeps 6 with its two bedrooms and a loft. The master bedroom suite has a private balcony perfect for watching the sunset. The master has a King bed while the 2nd bedroom has a queen and a twin and the loft has a queen futon bed. There is a large screen porch on the front of the house perfect for enjoying the sunset or just taking a nap. New in 2023 complete renovation of both bathrooms, new floors upstairs and new slider in bedroom. New in 2019 and 2020 Fire place in living room, king bed in master, queen bed in second bedroom and new twin bed, new dining set on deck, new stainless steel refrigerator and new heat pump AC unit.

Another enjoyable stay at Buoy house. Amenities are as stated, the home is very clean.There have been multiple upgrades over the years. Very private. Perfect spot to do nothing but relax. On the edge of a nature preserve, so with a west wind, could incur some insects. Beach is not groomed as it is "private". We really appreciate that aspect.

Awesome stay!

This was our first time renting a house on the beach and we had such an amazing time! We enjoyed the convenience of being able to walk up and down the path from the house to the beach. My son and my niece were able to boogie board on some decent sized waves at high tide. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

This is a lovely, well-maintained and well-appointed place. The owner is very responsive. This was our second time staying here. The mosquitoes were a bit rough this time, but repellent is an effective tool against them.

Peaceful

Our time here was so peaceful. The solitude on the beach can't be beat. Having a fire on the beach has always been on the bucket list so it was awesome to check that off. The wildlife refuge is a great place to take a walk in nature. We seen multiple beach bunnies which was a first but very entertaining. The house itself is beautiful and well prepared for guests. Very clean and serene. If we ever drop by Delaware again we will be sure to stay here.

Really great location and property- clean, peaceful, everything you need. Sleeps 6, but loft futon area probably best for teens/ kids rather than adult couple. Thanks Gunnar - we’ll be back!

Perfect Winter Get Away

We loved the gorgeous sunrise and sunsets everyday! We were lucky to be visited by snow geese everyday, too. It was such a peaceful escape.

Amazing sunrise walks

We had a wonderful time here. Your beach house is so beautiful and comfy. We were so glad the evenings were cool enough to enjoy the fireplace. The sunrise walks on the beach were AMAZING! We definitely want to come back. So restful!

Great Relaxing Family Vacation

We can’t say enough about the buoy house. First of all the host is super responsive and a pleasure to deal with. The house is updated with a great open concept. The views are AMAZING!! Whether relaxing on the deck, porch or on the beach, the views and the vibes are wonderful. The beach was great and the ocean was calm in the bay. Very private , quiet and relaxing experience. A short ride to Lewes and Rehoboth if you are looking to venture out but for a relaxing secluded spot this is the place. We will definitely be back again!

A great start to our summer!

The house was comfortable, with ample room for 2 adults and three kids ( and their luggage). We loved that the storage shed had chairs, an umbrella, and plenty more! Our boys found something new to play with each day. My husband enjoyed the kayak. As a mom, I loved that the kids could go back and forth to the house on their own! The host was very easy to communicate with, but we really didn't need anything!!!! We hope to return sometime!

Family Getaway

We had a wonderful stay at the Buoy House. It was just what we were looking for during COVID 19 - a quiet, scenic getaway with some beach time for our 2.5 year old. It is about a 15-20 minute drive from most food places, but given we weren't looking to go out to eat, we enjoyed cooking meals in the kitchen with a beautiful view. The house was very clean and Gunnar was welcoming and responsive. For a slightly better beach experience with more swimmable ocean, we took 2 trips to Cape Henlopen, which is an easy 20-25 mins away. Overall a great stay!

Sunny Days & Stellar Nights!

Beautiful property! Gunnar (owner) was incredibly attentive and helpful even suggesting a GREAT Indian restaurant in town. He also shared with us the dishwasher was broken PRIOR to our visit, to be replaced Nov 1. Gunnar mentioned the recent upgrades and scheduled appliance replacements in the coming weeks.

Sweet little beach cottage!

What a charming little spot tucked away on Prime Hook! Plenty of space for our group of 6 to enjoy coffee on the back deck, dinners together at the dining table, and evening drinks on the screened porch. Though the beach is not one I would swim at, the kids enjoyed dipping their toes in the water and seeing hundreds of horseshoe crabs along the beach. The beach was lovely for my 4 mile strolls early each morning. The kitchen was well stocked and clean, beds were comfortable and made with fresh linens when we arrived. Overall a great value for the money, and a great little spot for a long weekend away!

Beachfront perfection at the Buoy House!

This was our second stay at the Buoy House. This property set a high standard during our first stay last year, and this year somehow raised the bar even higher. "Perfect" is not a word I throw around lightly, and this house really is the ideal beach getaway for our family of three and could easily (and comfortably!) accommodate a few more folks. House is immaculately clean and perfectly appointed so we could cook some meals at home and close enough to restaurants so we could enjoy some time out as well. And it truly is steps from the beach...we enjoyed lovely weather this year, so we really made good use of that beach time. (and even if Mother Nature had other plans, there is a closet full of board games, which we enjoyed thoroughly during our evenings!) The owners told us they were fully stocked with beach toys and they weren't kidding...there was everything there we could possibly want and things I wouldn't have even thought to bring! And beyond building sand castles, there is plenty of wildlife to enjoy. We loved exploring the tidal pools during low tide and even spotted a pod of dolphins right from the back deck! If you're looking for a peaceful, family-friendly beachfront experience, you will not be disappointed here! Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer!

A place to get away and into nature!

A hidden treasure on the Delaware Bay next to the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge. The house had every thing we needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. The view of the Bay from the house is amazing with beautiful sunrises. Be sure to bring food and drinks as the closest grocery is about 15 minutes away in Milton. The kitchen was stocked with the items needed to make and eat meals. Bring plenty of sunscreen and bug spray. With the proximity to marshland, the bugs can get pretty bad at times. However, the house’s screened in back porch allows you to be outdoors even when the bugs are bad. All of the beds we’re comfortable. The outdoor shower was a favorite to rinse of salt and sand from the beach. Jellyfish were already present in the Bay, bring swimwear to protect you and your family from stings. The water is relatively shallow except at high tide. I highly recommend this rental.

The BEST Beach Home EVER!

Well appointed, wonderful decor and extremely comfortable home and beach house. The fireplace in the great room was a dream come true and the upstairs king bed was awesome. The baseboard heating more than supplied our needs on a cold, wet day. No need to run out for supplies the first night as the Buoy House is well stocked with kitchen staples, spices, flour, sugar, plastic wrap, foil, sandwich bags not to mention the plethora of glassware, cups, mugs, dishes, utensils, silverware, cookware, crab pot, broiler pans, kitchen appliances, pot holders, towels, cleaning supplies and a nice cache of plastic ware and cups for families with children. We have stayed in homes all over the country and this is by far the best equipped and cleanest home ever. All of this at the end of the season! Now let's talk about that extra room underneath the house, a treasure chest of shelves and items ranging from toys of all kinds, fishing equipment, a beach wagon, inflatables, an additional grill, at least 4 bicycles, chairs in addition to those tied to the deck railing on the walk out deck and a ton of more items I have missed. Under the deck and around the storage room are 4 quality kayaks WITH PADDLES! I can't tell you how many times we have stayed at a location that boasts of such things only to discover the cupboards are bare, bicycle tires are flat or the chain is broken, paddles are missing or broken and the grill does not stay lit or there is very little propane. Gunner and Dorothy, you are the exception rather than the rule and it was such a pleasure to share your space. The condition of the Buoy House exemplifies what all rental properties should be. Congratulations! Be well, stay safe and be vigilant as we travel through such crazy times. Continue to show kindness to others and do what you do best with such a flair!

The Buoy House is always a treat to stay at for our family! It’s spacious with excellent views of the Bay and has a covered screened in porch for relaxing. Prime Hook is quiet but not too far from restaurants and shopping. The people are friendly and it’s fun to swim and beach comb. The house owner responds quickly and goes the extra mile to make sure your stay is enjoyable. We definitely recommend this place!

Simply amazing!

The Buoy House has got to be the best rental I've ever stayed in. It was neat and clean, well-maintained, well-stocked, well-furnished, just steps off the beach, located in a wonderful community, and the sunrises across the bay are spectacular. I don't know what else to say except "perfect"!

Dorothy and I absolutely love Prime Hook! It is a beautiful place to relax and we love the beach.
We love the peace and quiet and the feeling of privacy you get as you drive across the wildlife refuge towards the beach. Its great that shopping and excellent restaurants are only 15-20 minutes away .
