Perfect spot in Homer. Beautiful view of the Kenai Mountains across the Kachemak Bay and close to the Beach for an evening walk. Great Restaurants close too. Loved the Wildlife Refuge Visitors Center and Board Walk, also walking distance.

I honestly have nothing but good things to say about my week-long stay at this beautiful place. The apartment was super comfortable and lovely to spend time in. The kitchen was well stocked, the bedroom was cozy, and the window-filled breakfast nook was the BEST! My hosts were helpful and responsive, and very welcoming. I would absolutely stay here again if I ever have the pleasure of visiting beautiful Homer again.

I absolutely love this private and comfortable little apartment above a WONDERFUL bookshop. Just a few blocks to a large grocery, short walk to bakeries and restaurants, art gallery, and near the water and wetland walks. The kitchen is well equipped and I had guests for dinner once and lunch another time. Bed is very comfy. Everything is clean and wellstocked. I was so surprised when I arrived to find a bowl of fresh fruit, a box of scones and a vase of cut flowers on the table. Plenty of coffee! I felt like an old friend had been expecting me! I wish I'd booked another week, not just one. I had to locate the Post Office because I got carried away shopping downstairs at the bookshop in the Alaskana and cookbook sections. I didn't get to meet Sally but had a couple good visits with Andy and found some lovely art by their daughter Oceania at a nearby gallery. I couldn't have dreamt a sweeter place to spend a week in Homer.

The place is so cute. The view of the mountains and water is beautiful. The bookstore is great to explore but too many other things to do. Hostvery relaxed but helpful. Kitchen is great but went out to eat, Broken Oar on Spit has a limited menu but everything is good. Twisted goat has Salmon pizza and many more unique pizza topping plus fish.

Lovely place to stay while in Homer

Enjoyed our stay and the very comfortable and cozy apartment. Great location within a few blocks of Bishops Beach as well as town. Will stay here again next time I visit!

Staying at The Mermaid, located over the Old Inlet Bookshop, was dream come true! As an avid reader and lover of all bookstores, discovering comfortable, clean accommodations with a view of Kachemak Bay located over a bookstore was better than I ever hoped for! Hosts Andy and Sally went out of their way to make sure we felt welcomed. In addition to fresh flowers on the table, Sally also left a nice welcome note, a basket of fruit, and blueberry scones. I enjoyed the convenient location to "Old Town" area where we were only about a 5-10 minute walk from Wild Honey Bistro (coffee shop) and a few other restaurants. Also, Bishop's Beach is just a couple of minutes past the coffee shop. Great for a morning walk -- and tide pools! Thanks to Andy for recommending The Broken Oar for dinner, we had one of the best meals of our entire Alaska vacation!

Absolutely the space we were looking for. True to its word. Andy is a wonderful guy and perfect host. Available when needed, out of sight otherwise. Clean, warm & spacious. The only place I will forever stay when in Homer.

Ideal location!

This sweet, comfy apartment is ideally located for exploring Homer: close to Bishop Beach, cool restaurants, the Art center, and Islands and Oceans exhibit. Plus a bookstore downstairs!
