About this property

Hot Tub, River Views, Couples & Families!!!

Morning Glory is a pet friendly cabin. Please see the last paragraph of this description summary for pet fees and pet policies...

Please note that a mailing address will be requested for the reservation file upon booking this home.

Morning Glory' at RIVERWALK...Private, Cozy AND Immaculate! Spend a weekend or a week in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Great location for every season of the year!

Morning Glory provides a large private hot tub just outside the front door on the deck. Sit in one of the front porch rockers to enjoy the view of the Cane River below as it flows past the cabin. At night, look up and be amazed by the abundant number of stars in the sky like you've never seen before.

What would a mountain cabin be without the scent and warmth of a wood burning fireplace? Each of our cabins has a wood burning fireplace. We provide free and unlimited wood for our guests so you can enjoy cozy fires all day and all night, if you'd like.

If you demand comfort and ease while away from home, you'll find it here! Each kitchen is equipped as if it were our own for year round use. We also provide a starter supply of coffee, the filters, sugar and artificial sweeteners so you can arrive late, if necessary, and without feeling pressure to immediately run out for supplies. Starter toilet paper, paper towels and bath soap are provided. Dish soap, dishwasher soap, and laundry soap are provided in unlimited supply. If you need something out of the ordinary, let us know. Chances are we can make it available. Once you check in we want you to sit back and relax.

Comfort, we demand it and so should you! Every guest will rest well in our beds. Our mattresses are all Simmons Beautyrest and guests continue to give our beds the highest marks. Each cabin sleeps up to 4 guests. The master bedroom has a queen bed while the loft bedroom upstairs provides guests the option of either a pair of twin beds or a single king size bed. Simply specify your preference when booking the reservation. Each of the 2-floors has a full size bathroom.

High speed wireless internet, a landline telephone and extended basic cable the best cable TV is all included with our cabins.

Get out and see the surrounding area or stay on the property for your entire vacation (which is what many repeat guests enjoy doing). All the property surrounding our cabins is family owned and available for exploration by our guests. In the Riverwalk community is a barn and horse arena owned by Laura's parents, Paul & Judi Ewing (the original Riverwalk cabin owners). While trail riding is not available, guests may book a social visit with Judi's horses just by giving her a call. Her phone number is listed in the Welcome (information) Book in the cabin. Kids especially get a kick out of learning how to care for and groom a horse. Donations made on behalf of the Yancey County Humane Society are appreciated (but not required).

Two private, family owned, riverside parks are available for guest use as well. Between these two parks guests can enjoy river tubing, fabulous trout fishing, a LARGE fire pit and a covered picnic pavilion with grill. Laura also owns an outdoor event venue on the adjacent property to Riverwalk. Sunset Gatherings provides a beautiful setting for outdoor events of all types, including (but certainly not limited to) weddings, family reunions, birthdays, etc...lodging discounts are available when in association with a Sunset Gatherings event.

2-wheel drive vehicles are usually adequate to get to and from the cabins to the state road. If you have any difficulty whatsoever, we live just around the corner and are available to help you 24/7.

PETS:
While we are pet friendly, we do have a fee and minor requirements: The fee for a single pet is $75, 2-pets is $100. These fees apply whether booking for a couple of days or longer. VRBO has a "pets" box to check if you plan to travel with pets, but limit the ability to spell out fees and terms. If you are bringing pets, but forget to check the box or include in your initial email to me, I will ask.
We do not permit pets on the furniture, on the beds or use any of the cabin linens for pets (regardless of size or habit). This said, please be sure to bring comfy accommodations for your pets.

Thank you :-)

Great place to go!

We stayed at Riverwalk for 4 days in 2010 and had an absolutely fantastic time. We were very impressed with the cleanliness and amenities. The location is great, close to Asheville but still far away to feel like you are "getting away". Great hiking in the area. Thanks for a great place to stay! We will be back!

Beautiful cabin and surroundings

My family of four stayed in Morning Glory recently. The cabin is beautiful and we were never lacking for anything. The drive to the cabin is scenic and all of the surroundings are so peaceful and relaxing. The owners made sure all of our needs were met. We will definitely try to return here in the future.

River overlook

Great little cabin - mostly everything in good working order. If you like remote and want to be away from it all, this is the place for you. Hot tub is fabulous. Really enjoyed the outdoor fire pit as well as the fireplace. Within an hour, many hiking and waterfalls options await you.

Very Private and clean cabin

This was our first visit to Burnsville, and we really enjoyed our stay. The cabin is very private, and was super cute, had everything we needed. It was very clean, and the host was wonderful. We were there in October, so the color of the leaves could not have been better. Oh, and the hot tub is amazing! And if you don’t feel like venturing out, there’s a lot to see right there on the property, The Cane River runs right through, very pretty.

Wonderful Cabin

Location was perfect - close to town, but far enough away to enjoy the serenity of the woods. Beautiful 15m drive to Ingles grocery store for supplies if needed - has a Starbucks and excellent selection of fresh produce and meats. Cabin had great views of the stream and an enjoyed a quick walk to it. Cabin was so cozy and peaceful. Had all of the amenities of home. Quick wifi and plenty of streaming channels along w sports networks for the games. Great grill and the kids loved the hot tub. Will definitely be back if I don’t try and buy it! Lol

Mountain getaway

Nice little getaway--lots of room to explore in the immediate vicinity and plenty of other nearby nature/hiking areas around. The cabin itself is cozy. There was some crazy weather when we were there (wind) which knocked the power out a few times and blew a bunch of debris into the hot tub--when I called the rentor to ask if there were any cleaning utensils for it she came by and cleaned it up.

Peaceful cabin

Cabin was great. Very clean and very well stocked. The host Laura was very helpful. Lots of local information in notebook provided in the cabin. About 40-50 minutes north of Asheville. Town doesn't have very many restaurants and most close early but the local grocer Ingles is very well stocked. Great hiking in the area. About 1 hour from Grandfather Mountain (absolutely beautiful!) Hot tub after a day of hiking was fabulous.

Lovely Property

The house was very nice & offered privacy. Rocking chairs on the porch were a great place to relax with a morning coffee. The kitchen had everything we needed for meal prep, & we enjoyed having dinner at the outdoor dining table. The beds & bedding were very comfortable. The whole house was well appointed & the owner has paid attention to detail so that you have everything you might need (hair dryer, iron, starter coffee, etc.). The neighborhood is lovely. I would like to note that the river is not accessible from the house. You have to drive down to the pavilion area for access. Overall, this is a wonderful & relaxing place to stay. I would definitely return.

Wonderful!

It was isolated yet close to town and shopping for supplies. It had everything you'd need and was well maintained. Heaters and fireplace kept it plenty warm. Ample parking and living space. Wifi crashed but was easily reset. Owner is very accessible and helpful. Just don't be 5 minutes late at checkout, or they will knocking on the door. :-)

About the host

Hosted by Laura Watrous

Host profile image
I'm Laura Watrous. My husband and partner, Brett Watrous, are the owners of the two luxury vacation cabins that make up Riverwalk Vacation Rentals. We love our life in the mountains and find great joy sharing our special piece of the world with guests. Our cabins were originally designed with the kind of comfort and luxury we strive for when we vacation.

Why they chose this property

The saying goes: 'I wasn't born in Burnsville but I got here as quickly as I could' The climate is perfect with four different seasons: Beautiful cool Summers, colorful Falls, relatively mild Winters, and fresh colorful Springs. Morning Glory is in a perfect location to make the most of why a Blue Ridge Mountain vacation is great any time of the year.

What makes this property unique

Morning Glory cabin is private yet convenient to features not available anywhere else. This cabin sits just above the Cane River with a wide open view of the river. The sound of the river actually echos in the porch rafters. Guests of Riverwalk also have access to two privately owned riverside parks which cater to our guests. One with pond with gazebo, a playground, and the other with picnic pavilion and a large fire pit. There are 200+ acres of hiking and exploring right on the Riverwalk property. Neighboring farm with people friendly horses and a couple of donkeys. Horse owner, Judi, welcomes social visits with her two horses. No fee, but donations on behalf of the Yancey Humane Society are always appreciated. Sorry, but trail riding is not offered.

Riverwalk is close to Blue Ridge Parkway, Mount Mitchell and The Pisgah National Forest (pedestrian, bike, equestrian trails).
