The house is clean, attractive, and comfortable, and it's located so that you can watch the sun rise over the Atlantic and set over the Pamlico Sound. It's quiet and private, with lovely views from every room. The wrap-around porch has comfortable lounging spaces as well as beautiful views. There's also easy access to the Sound for paddleboarding, and the beach is about a 20-minute walk, or you can drive to a public access ramp. Karen, the host, was responsive and made the process easy. If you are into stargazing, you will love this place. There's an upper deck off one of the bedrooms, and we saw more stars from up there than I've ever seen in my life. It was spectacular, and if we go back to the OBX, we would definitely stay in this place again.

We loved this property! Great views, super private, and pet friendly. The house had everything we needed and the beds were super comfortable. The upstairs bathroom felt like a spa experience with the view from the shower. Karen was an excellent and gracious host, getting us an early check in as well as being available for any questions we had. We hope to stay again next year, would highly recommend. Thanks Karen!

My family and pups really had a wonderful stay at the Captain's Hideout. My family's favorite spots were both decks relaxing with morning coffee. The views of the sound from the home were amazing. My dogs especially loved the wrap around deck that's gated. We used bikes provided and also rented a golf cart to access the pool and shops. Karen was so nice and very responsive to all questions which I appreciated. Thank you!!!

We just left Captains Hideout and miss it already! The house and the property were perfect for our family of four and fur baby! We fished and crabbed from the bulkhead, the kids used the paddle boards that were at the house, sunsets and stargazing from the porches were amazing. The house is very close to beaches and we even took the passenger ferry to Ocracoke Island for a day trip. Thank you Karen for sharing your property.

My wife and i (and our dog Blue) had a great stay. The location is very convenient to everything but very private at the house. The sound front beach was great for watching sunsets. The house had everything we needed and was very clean. The beds were very comfortable. The showers have great water pressure and lots of hot water. The gates on the deck and the fenced backyard were perfect for keeping the dog confined when necessary. We would definitely stay again!!

This is our 2nd time staying at the Captains Hideout. Both very positive experiences. The owner is very responsive and gives great info of the area and the house. Everything you could need is there, minus the food. Looking forward to another relaxing vacation.

The location was absolutely stunning! The house was perfect for us. There were a couple of things that needed fixing, but we still loved our entire vacation! Can't wait to return to Hatteras Island next summer.
