Welcome to Last Flight Out! Our cottage was built in 2016 to the latest beachfront constructions standards and is situated on a remote, private, uniquely beautiful beach at the southernmost tip of Mathews County.

The shallow sandy beach at LFO is ideal for children of all ages and allows great wading, swimming, kayaking and surf fishing for everyone. Beachcombing at Bavon is terrific, and visitors can walk from the cottage all the way to the New Point Comfort Natural Area Preserve and the historic New Point Comfort Lighthouse.

Amazing views and great swimming

Stayed for 3 days- the views were absolutely amazing (sunrise and sunset). All the neighbors we very friendly. Town was a short drive away with some great food. Will absolutely be returning.

This was our third stay at this property and my kids continue to love it. My boys spent days catching minnows and various crabs and playing in the shallow water. We also love the short walk to the nature preserve. Great property.

Great Getaway

Home was very clean and has fantastic views of the bay! We walked to within a couple hundred yards of New Point Comfort lighthouse. Our favorite restaurant was Richardson’s. Highly recommend that his home for a private getaway!

Great beach retreat

This beach house was perfect for our family getaway. The beach was private. The water was warm and shallow enough to relax and not fight strong waves. The house offered great shade for playing in the sand. The outdoor shower was great at the end of a day of play.The house was clean, comfortable and well stocked.The hosts were very responsive and have done an excellent job ensuring the comfort of their guests. We are already talking about another visit.

Beautiful and Relaxing Beach House

I have rented this property multiple times and will continue to do so. The rental is well maintained and its location on the Chesapeake Bay provides relaxing views and its close proximity to the shoreline feels like you are on a boat with the waves breaking below. The communication with the owner is straighforward and timely. I continue to enjoy this rental experience and look forward to renting again in the near future. Excellent Beach House for Getaway

I have rented this property multiple times and have never been disappointed. The location on the beach is beautiful and the home is comfortable with a large deck overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. The host is excellent to deal with and very quick responding. Would definitely recommend this property to anyone wanting to get away to a quiet place on the beach.

Our week's stay here was wonderful and it was easy to communicate with our host. The website's description is very accurate in every way. The tastefully decorated cottage, comfortable beds and the very nice kitchen were perfect for us. We loved the spacious deck and comfortable lawn furniture. The covered downstairs area on the beach and outside shower was so convenient. The sunsets, the sound of the waves and even a rainbow made our time extra special. Beautiful and relaxing location on Chesapeake bay. The position of the home on the beach provides the feeling of being directly on the water. The views from the deck were exceptional. This was our second stay at the property and had another great long weekend. Property is good for kids…Sandy beach, shallow water and kid friendly paddle boards and toys. The house has plenty of shade under the house and the deck is awesome for meals and sunrises. We also enjoyed walks down to the nature preserve and short drives to dinner in Mathew’s and Gwynn’s Island.

This was our 5th stay - as always, the house was immaculate when we arrived and fully stocked with household items. Excellent Beach Rental

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beach rental. The home was clean and very close to the beach. The owners have added jetties/groins that prevent beach erosion and produce what I would call an almost pool like setting directly by the house. We loved the local community and will certainly stay again in the future. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to experience the wonders of Matthews county and the Chesapeake Bay in your beach rental.

Great location and beautiful views

The house was exactly as pictured with views of the bay from every inch of the place. The deck was a lovely place to eat, and the hammock under the house was my preferred place to work on my writing. I was able to enjoy the kayak when the bay was calm and kayaked alongside dolphins one evening. The host was always available to answer a question or provide some help. Honestly, I didn’t explore anything but the shoreline this trip because the house was enough for what I needed. Can’t wait to come back!

Quiet bayside haven

Another stay at Last Flight Out in the books! We love it here, and pretty much live on the deck the entire time. Brandon is extremely responsive. No problem working remote with the wifi on hand! FYI to grill lovers - there is no more gas grill, now it is a park style charcoal grill top so remember those briquettes! For those wanting to sleep in I recommend an eye mask because the transoms and sheers make for an early sunshiney morning.

AMAZING!!!

First a big thank you to Brandon. He is nothing short of super host and I cannot thank him enough! This place is just perfect. Small, but enough room for everything I needed. Everything was clean and I didn't want for a thing because it was all there. The water was perfect for swimming and trying to paddle board. We had a wonderful time and I can't wait to come back. Great Getaway

Great house, use of space, quality building materials, etc. The only downside is there is no beach left. This neighborhood has been battered by nor’easters and hurricanes. We had a visit from the county building inspector while we were there and he deemed the house unsafe until repaired. It seemed plenty safe and sturdy to me, it’s just that the foundation is exposed. If you want waterfront-this is the place for you! You are literally on/in the water.

Wonderful location

The house was both cute and comfortable, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and our visit to Mathews. I was seriously impressed with whoever does the housekeeping there, as I didn't see a speck of dust anywhere. I personally prefer a firmer mattress, but the linens on the beds were very comfortable, as were the other furnishings. There were enough kitchen essentials if you want to cook and a TV and board games if you ever got bored. We ate most of our meals out, and the host provided great recommendations. The best part of all, though, was the location of the house and the views from it. You could see the water from every where in the house, and the waves actually came up under the deck, it was so close. I would absolutely recommend to others looking to stay in this area, particularly those on ladies getaways and small families

Quiet beachfront getaway

This house is literally almost in the water so there is no denying you cannot get any closer to the beach. If you normally use a sound machine that mimics waves crashing you won't have to pack that. The space is small and you need to be ok with eating your meals outside on the covered deck because there really isn't anywhere to have a meal indoors. There is a folding table but no chairs to go with it. While most of the house was very clean and comfortable (notably the pillows and main beds), we did find lots of utensils and cookware with food dried and caked on it, coffee mugs and silicone drinkware with lots of residue, in addition to a keurig with algae growing on the bottom that I needed to clean out. Note that there are no plates or bowls that are microwave safe in the kitchen so bring some paper plates to use. Outside of that the kitchen was well stocked. I think this place is ideal for a couples getaway or kids ages 5-10. Communication with owner was exceptional and he was very accommodating with our booking needs.

We are excited to make memories here with our own families in the years to come as well as make the property available for others to enjoy. Both families reside in Richmond, VA with their young children. Brandon Royall has fond memories of visiting his great-grandmother's home on Bavon Beach as a child.

We are committed to providing the same high quality experience to our vacationers as the previous owners did. We take pride in this cottage and are thrilled we get to share it with others!

You can't beat the beautiful views and bayfront location of this newly constructed cottage. The expansive deck and sandy beach are great for lounging and playing. The calm water makes playing in the waves fun for all ages! Take a kayak to New Point Comfort Lighthouse or catch crabs off of the nearby pier. Quaint downtown Mathews is a 10 minute drive away and offers several great dining options.
