About this property

Nature Lover's Retreat with Fantastic Views of Shipping Lanes and Cascades

The Loki Bluff House sits on a bluff with sweeping views of the Shipping Lanes, Whitbey Island, Edmonds across the Sound, and the entire Cascade Mountain Range - the most spectacular sunrises await early risers!

The huge deck is perfect for taking in a meal, relaxing, whale watching, seeing herons fish in Puget Sound and bald eagles soar above.

2 Bedrooms, 2 baths, the large family room and deck give 1600 sq ft to stretch out.
A gas fireplace provides ambiance and warmth upstairs, while the downstairs has a wood stove insert to make even winter nights cozy.

Grab the binoculars and watch the multitude of boat traffic, from cruise ships to tug boats to fishing and sail boats, and even the occasional submarine!
In the March - May evenings, the frog chorus is a reminder that you're not in the city any more. Swallows or other small birds like to nest in the bird houses in front of the kitchen windows between April to June providing a unique perspective of the local wildlife.
Walk 1/2 mile through lovely Point No Point Park to explore the beach and light house.
Turn the lights down and enjoy the twinkling lights in the distance or the moon's bright reflection on the sparking water. Away from the city lights, you can seemingly see every star in the Milky Way.....

While the city is not far away, this house is located in a rural area. The last 200 yards are dirt road. It has a septic system and is on a well. You may hear coyotes at night.

A new water filtration system was installed in 2021/22. Additional drinking water is provided in easy to change 5 gal hot/cold dispenser.

Ship watchers delight
If you are looking for a fabulous unobstructed view of the Puget Sound shipping channel, consider this property. We greatly enjoyed sitting on the deck in the early morning drinking coffee and watching the traffic on the water, large and small. We also enjoyed walking the trails at nearby parks. The house itself has a homey feel with new carpeting and furnishing that are in excellent condition. No sagging couches here! The kitchen and baths are reasonably equipped and the house is very clean. We also appreciated the fact that the homeowner was very responsive and accommodating.

We stayed here over Thanksgiving weekend. The house has beautiful views of the Sound and shipping lanes. Sunrises were magnificent! It was a beautiful, cozy place to spend the long weekend. The owner was very responsive to communications and responded quickly when we sent messages.

About the host

Having grown up in Europe I did not expect that I would call the Pacific Northwest my home one day. But after living here for nearly 40 years now, I must admit that I fell in love with the rugged beauty that is all around us. Alas, I like real estate and have several other rentals, however, this one is my favorite by far. This is why, until recently, I was too selfish to share my good luck in finding this gem of a house/location with others. I hope you will enjoy your time at Loki Bluff as much as I do!

Why they chose this property

Ever since coming to the Pacific Northwest I wanted to own a property with a view. My budget was limited but I spent countless hours traveling up and down hood canal to try and find a piece of land that I could build on eventually. I found what I thought was my dream location, but the building process was daunting and, well basically I chickened out. However, when I started a new search, this time for a modest little cabin, I lucked out! It wasn't just the sailing regatta that was happening on a sparkling sunny day when I visited with the realtor, or even the swallows nesting right in front of the kitchen window, nor solely the incredible views, but the feeling of being on top of the world. Being a "cliff dweller" is special and you just have to experience it for yourself. I could not have dreamed up a better spot for a getaway.

What makes this property unique

Loki Bluff is just a short ferry ride and 10 min by car from the city. There is a farmers market in the summer at the Kingston ferry where one can purchase fresh and organic produce. There are various charming little towns for an easy afternoon outing or you can call Loki Bluff home base for exploring the peninsula. Those who would prefer not to explore further will find it quite easy to kick back on the deck with a drink and a good book, or to cuddle up in front of the fireplace on stormy winter days.
