Sea Salt Cottage offers spectacular views of the beach and the Olympic National Park from this cozy cottage on the bluff above the waters of Hood Canal. The view is toward the mountains to the west, so the afternoon sun warms the yard and the sunsets are the show of the day. The beach is a short walk down the staircase / trail that ends at the beach on Hood Canal. Walk the beach, search for shells, fish, crab, dig for clams, or simply enjoy the views. Come have fun!

Sea Salt Cottage is a great starting point for day trips to Kingston, Poulsbo, Bainbridge Island, and Port Gamble. If you want to head further out, Port Townsend and the Olympic National Park await.

Absolutely gorgeous and completely comfortable. 100plus steps to the beach but worth the climb. We only used it for nights while we were at the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival but we would love to come back sometime and really take advantage of the whole place and everything provided.

Absolutely stunning views of the Olympic Mountains! The home was perfect. We fell in love with the kitchen, I would volunteer to do dishes all the time so I could out at that view! Fully stocked with anything you can think of to make a meal and drinks. The beds were very comfortable. All the details throughout made you feel at home and the photos do not do it justice. Adrienne was very responsive and we would stay here again!

Spectacular Special Spot

Everything about this location is 5 stars. Obviously, you come for the views, but the owners go above and beyond to make your stay special and relaxing. From the tips on things to do in the area to the games and kid friendly activities provided at the house, everything has been thought of. This is truly a special place to stay.

Relaxing experience

The view was stunning. We sat at the table looking out and talked for hours. The house was immaculate, well designed and perfect for our needs. We were in and out visiting local attractions. If the buoys on the mailbox were a brighter color, would be easier to see from the road. We drove past the driveway every time.

Beautiful house and property. Even nicer than the pictures! Cell service is spotty in that area so be sure you look at a map ahead of time. We are already planning a return stay.

The cottage was just as pictured. Updated, well appointed, crisp and clean. Adorable secret reading loft for the girls. Sand dollars were bountiful down at the beach. Beautiful view. Definitely recommended!

August Paradise

Returned after staying last year. Same great property, setting and HOST! Enjoyed a week of perfect weather and amazing sunsets looking over Hood Canal and the Olympics. House again, was well kept, clean and just the right amenities. Easily could be a three-peat for us again.

Hospitality Perfected!

This beach house was a dream. Gorgeous location, perfect for our rest and relaxation. All the nice touches by Adrienne, made us feel like cherished family that they had opened their house to, instead of strangers! Highlight was watching a submarine go by. Kitchen was very well stocked and organized. Bedding was high quality! Everything truly was perfect! Can't wait to get some more time away and stay again!

Perfect stay!

This was our first big trip with our < 1 year old baby and we couldn't have better things to say about Sea Salt Cottage and everything Adrienne does to make your stay perfect. The house is outfitted with everything you need as a family - a clean, new pack n play, a nice high chair, kids toys, really nice kitchenware, dishes, mugs, and even nice knives for cooking. We've stayed in a lot of places and this is truly one of the nicest places we've ever stayed - it felt like home from the moment we arrived. The house overall is beautiful and the property is amazing. We couldn't get enough of the view, the fire pit, hammock, deck, grill, etc. And while not pictured, the beach is great too. Tons to do in the local area while also feeling peaceful and secluded. We're already talking about when we can go back.

Perfect Spot

We stay in Hansville every summer and this house was amazing. The space is thoughtfully laid out and the kitchen was so well stocked! There were even little welcome treats for the whole family when we arrived, a nice little touch. The view from this house is nothing short of breathtaking, sunsets are spectacular, and we were fortunate enough to be out there during the meteor showers and were not disappointed. It is a long haul down steps to the beach, so wouldn't be great for anyone with mobility issues, but there are other more accessible beaches in the area if you needed to drive to one. Great spot for our family! We'll definitely be back!

Beyond amazing property!!

My family and I stayed at Sea Salt Cottage in July 2023. There were 7 of us, ranging from 17-49. We all absolutely loved this property. It was spacious, open and beautiful. The views were stunning, the beach below was full of wonder at low tide, and the house was so comfortable. My children, 17-24, loved hanging out at the house and want to return again soon. I couldn't have asked for a better place for our family vacation. Communication with the owner was great and she had the house stocked with every item you could possibly need. This location is truly a gem!

Two words: Simply amazing!

I've stayed in many VRBOs, and this one, by far, is the best. Adrienne's home was so well equipped. She thought of everything. From spices to blankets to throw over our legs on a cool evening, the home was so comfortable. Now let's talk view...we kept saying, "Wow, we could get used to this." It is truly magical to look out onto Hood Canal. Our adult children loved playing cornhole and badminton while we sat by an outdoor fire one early evening. It was a short drive to The Kingston House, where our son was married, a short drive to Safeway to pick up supplies, and there are several little towns close by to explore. For a full-day trip, Olympic National Park or the Pacific Ocean are within reach! Since our son and new daughter-in-law live in Seattle, we are already thinking of return trips to Sea Salt Cottage! Thank you, Adrienne, for having such a memorable home.

I cannot even begin to describe how beautiful this location is. This hidden gem gave my family a peaceful getaway where we watched the eagles soar, bunnies and squirrels frolic, otters and fish jumping plus so many more lively activities out on the water!The home itself has plenty of dish wear and kitchen appliances to cook with. They have a great set up for kids of all ages (even for the kids at heart). The host family graciously provides additional luxury amenities like outdoor games, sand toys, games/puzzles, monoculars, shampoo, spices, teas, coffee, chocolate mixes and a welcome gift for adults and kids. We were spoiled!If I need another getaway, I’ll be looking to see if Sea Salt Cottage is available!

James and I both grew up in Edmonds, WA and decided to move to Hansville in 1997 to live more closely tied to the land and the water. We raised our four children at this house, and have so many memories at the beach, cooking over the fire, watching the snow line in the mountains across Hood Canal for the perfect time to go sledding, growing our garden out back, raising chickens and all the pets.
We now live on Bainbridge Island but visit often. We want to share the property we love so much with our family and others, so they might enjoy the beauty of Hansville and all there is do here.

Why they chose this property

We chose this property because we knew we wanted the most beautiful view of the Olympic Mountain range and be next to the beach. We wanted to raise our kids in a setting where they were very tied to nature.

What makes this property unique

Once you see the view from the house, you will understand why we wanted to live here. Even on a cloudy day, the vista is magical. It is a 180-degree view from the bay of Port Gamble to the south, up the canal to Port Townsend to the north. The view of Olympic Mountains never gets old as you watch it go through the seasons from the first snowfall to when it mostly melts in August. The sea air calms me every time I visit.
