About this property
Dog-friendly downtown efficiency w/free bike use
Very funky and sparkling clean efficiency apartment, which includes limited cooking facilities (microwave and hot plate). Comfy queen bed, small dining table and sofa. Just a few long blocks to the historic district of beautiful St. Augustine and all the fun restaurants, bars and shopping. You'll have first-come, first-serve use of bicycles, a private small back deck, and a great backyard with charcoal grills available Pet fee is $40 per dog per stay (max of 2 dogs).
This apartment is in a charming historic home built in the 1880's, that was converted into five apartments decades ago. The property was completely renovated in 2018 with new kitchens, bathrooms and newly decorated. You'll love the charm of the home as well as all the conveniences. The old pine floors are beautiful. One of the best parts of the property is the large backyard, complete with picnic table, charcoal bbq grill and lots of other seating. It's got beautiful lighting in the backyard too.
You have a very small cooking area, with a small sink, microwave, hot plate and a small refrigerator. It's just enough to heat up those leftovers or to make a simple breakfast.
Very comfortable bed.
You are welcome to use the shared washer/dryer that is outside. Detergent and fabric softener is provided.
********** We actively encourage our guests to purchase travel insurance.
We will only refund the booking for a hurricane threat if an evacuation is ordered in the area by the State of Florida. We experience threats nearly every other week during hurricane season, that rarely amount to anything.
Contracted Covid? That's why you need to purchase insurance. It will cover your booking reimbursement, and we hope you have a speedy recovery.
Your apartment is completely separate and has it's own separate exterior entrance, as well as a back door to the back yard. You have free use of the shared back yard and the shared bicycles, along with a funky pedicab where one of you can bike the spoiled person around. Flashing lights included!
We have a wonderful property manager who is available to answer any questions or provide any missing things. Can't find a corkscrew? Missing facecloths? They're all supposed to be there - just ask and if it's anything we can provide, we will. We want all of our guests to have a five star experience and it all starts by communication! We're also fully available by email or text. We strongly recommend buying travel insurance in case your plans change.
This is an interesting neighborhood. We're located right across the street from Ketterlinus Elementary school, so during recess time, you definitely hear the sound of the children, but it means it's pretty quiet at night. There's not a lot of street noise.
It's fun to sit outside on weekend nights and hear the music from downtown, but you don't hear it in the house.
We're in a neighborhood called Flagler's Model Land. Most of the houses in the neighborhood were built in the 1800's and some are very charming. Most of the area was originally owned by Henry Flagler, who played an important part of the growth of St. Augustine. Flagler College is also just a couple of blocks away.
We're a few minute walk to The Social Lounge and The Barley Republic, if you're looking for a drink. The food at The Barley Republic is very Irish and very tasty. Just a bit further and you get to our absolute favorite restaurant: Thai House & Sushi on Hypolita. Don't let the outside fool you with those ugly orange chairs. The food and the sushi is top notch, creative and delicious. Tell them Lindsey sent you!
We are less than two blocks from a trolley stop next to the Wax Museum, which most visitors to St. Augustine like to use to explore the city.
You are always welcome to park on the street in front of the house if there is room. If there's no parking, you also will have a parking pass to the City Garage, which is a couple of blocks away and a 5 minute walk. Directions to the parking will be provided with your check-in instructions.
For longer trips around, Uber, taxis and pedicabs are readily available.
This is a wonderful old house, but these old houses weren't built with the same soundproofing that houses are now, so you may hear some footsteps and noise from upstairs. You're on the ground floor and only have a bedroom above you. We do allow dogs, which you need to know if you have severe allergies.

About the host
Hosted by Benoit & Lindsey

We love to travel ourselves, and spend much of our time at other AirBnB properties. We are always finding ideas on how to make the stay for our guests more enjoyable. We travel with our dog, Scout and go all over the world with her.
Why they chose this property
This property is so well located. We bought this property because we love old homes and we love renovating them. We spent two long years on this house, but the results are worth it. It turned out to be a beautiful home and I'm sure you will enjoy it.
What makes this property unique
The unique part about this home includes the use of the back yard, and of course, there are first-come, first-serve bicycles that you are welcome to use to explore town during the day. It's so close to walk that we rarely take the bikes ourselves, but it's great to explore farther afield.
