About this property
Alaska Adventure Awaits: Charming Lakeside Living
Settle into a peaceful lakefront retreat on Blodgett Lake, just about 10 minutes from Wasilla and roughly an hour from Anchorage. This private top-floor lake house is designed for guests who want comfort, scenery, and easy access to Alaska adventure.
Start your morning with coffee on the south-facing deck overlooking the water. Spend the day paddling the lake, fishing, exploring nearby trails, or heading out toward Hatcher Pass, Talkeetna, Matanuska Glacier, Denali, or the Kenai Peninsula. In the evening, return to a quiet home base where you can grill on the deck, watch the lake, and unwind.
The home includes two comfortable queen bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen with a full-size refrigerator, electric range and oven, dishwasher, microwave, coffee makers, blender, rice cooker, crock pot, cookware, knives, and utensils. Complimentary starter coffee and tea are provided.
The main bathroom includes a rain shower and soaking tub combination, with quality towels, shampoo, body wash, and hand soap provided. With advance notice, an inflatable twin bed may be available for an additional sleeping arrangement.
The lakefront setting is one of the highlights of the stay. During the summer short-term rental season, guests can enjoy the dock, kayaks, canoe, pedal boat, and fishing gear. Life jackets are provided and recommended. Blodgett Lake is a peaceful, mile-long lake with a 15 hp restriction on motorized boats, making it well suited for paddling, wildlife viewing, fishing, and quiet relaxation.
The south-facing deck includes outdoor seating and a propane grill, creating an easy place to enjoy meals with a lake view. A lakeside fire ring is available when local fire restrictions and conditions allow. Firewood bundles are available for $10.
Inside, the home has warm Alaska character, including locally curated rock around the decorative wood stove and cabinetry crafted from Alaskan birch. The wood stove is decorative only and is not available for guest use.
The home has excellent drinking water from its on-site well, so bottled water is not needed unless you prefer it. A well-stocked grocery store, fuel, basic supplies, and outdoor gear are available nearby, with Three Bears about a mile away.
Arrival is straightforward. Navigation apps work well, with a scenic paved route and a brief forested dirt-road stretch near the property. Two guest parking spaces are located in front of the house, and a short flight of stairs leads to the private top-floor entrance with electronic keypad self check-in.
Whether you are planning hiking, fishing, wildlife viewing, day trips, or quiet time by the water, this lake house offers a comfortable and memorable Alaska home base.
We look forward to hosting you.

One of the best VRBO’s we’ve ever stayed at. Beautiful, well appointed, exceptional attention to detail (even the knives cut well). Thank you Troy for your hospitality and sharing your relaxing lake home with our family. Five stars.
We stayed here, along with our best friends, as part of our 25th anniversary vacation celebration. Troy has a beatiful home and everything you could hope for is provided, and then some. I highly recommend this property and would stay again and again!
This property was in a perfect location for all the things we wanted to do. The house was very clean and well appointed, everything you needed was there. Troy was a perfect host. Would love to stay here again
Loved this house on the lake. We used canoe to fish and caught some nice size trout. Good location to go to Palmer, Talkeetna, Hatcher Pass. Close to town of Wasilla and the town has a lot of major stores and restaurants.
The home was perfect! Everything needed for enjoying our stay was there. The kitchen was very well stocked and everything including a paddle boat, canoe and fishing rods were there for us to enjoy the lake. Views were amazing. Troy was also a great host.
The property is cared for and has about every amenity inside that you could think of. The place is very clean and well-cared for. It does have a bit of gravel road and driveway to get to it so be aware of that. Otherwise, we love our stay and would come back in a heartbeat
The lake house was beautiful and had a beautiful view. We stayed one night to break up our drive and I wish we had been there longer. The host did a lot of little extra things that made it a really nice stay. We got to take our son out in the pedal boat for a little bit and he loved it!
The home is beautiful and very comfortable. The view of the lake is spectacular! Loved listening to the loons and the trumpeter swans. Troy was very friendly and knowledgeable of the good fishing spots. We would definitely stay here again!
We throughly enjoyed our stay at Troy’s house in Wasilla! The property was beautiful with a stunning view of the lake. We enjoyed spending time on the lake, canoeing and fishing with the provided gear. The house was very clean and had all the necessary utensils and supplies for an easy stay. Troy was an excellent host and provided us with great information about the area and local things to do and sights to see. We absolutely loved our time in Alaska and would book with Troy again!
We had a blast staying in the Wasilla Lake house! It was a perfect week! Troy provided a perfect place for us and our son and DIL! His lake house has all the amenities and then some! He was very responsive and accommodating, plus he offered suggestions on places to visit that were great! We can’t wait to come again next year!
We had activities planned in Seward and Talkeetna so wanted a lake house for a family day relaxing at a house. This was perfect. Wife did yoga on deck, daughter read while my son and I canoed and fished. Great day. Nice well appointed house.
Beautiful cabin by the lake with fantastic views. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner Troy as we arrived he was just leaving. The cabin has the same vibe as the owner, warm and friendly. It was clean, quiet and peaceful. Our son did a little fishing just for fun and caught a salmon, he released it but the cabin has rods, paddle boat, life jackets for their guest’s convenience. We wish we could have stayed longer but our Alaska vacation had come to the end. Thank you so much Troy for sharing a piece of Alaska with us.
The Northshore House was a perfect place to stay while we were in Alaska on business for 11 days. The house was fully stocked with everything to be comfortable and enjoy our stay down to every detail including soaps, shampoo and conditioner, coffee and a few light snacks in the kitchen. Beautiful Alaskan decor throughout and obvious attention to detail. Owner was attentive and responsive. We enjoyed the peaceful lake setting and furnished deck to enjoy dinner in the sunshine. Beds were comfortable with light down comforters and bath towels were luxurious. Would highly recommend this property for anyone wanting all the comforts close to town while seeking a peaceful setting on a quiet lake.
This lovely home really impressed us! We met our host the day we checked in; he was kind and welcoming. He gave us a suggestion of a local scenic drive to check out, which we did. It did not disappoint!
The house itself is so thoughtfully prepared to accommodate guests. There were phone chargers located in the kitchen and both bedrooms (which we really appreciated - I mean, who hasn't lost their charger when traveling?) So great to have that handy. Everything is labeled, so you know just which light switch belongs to which fixture. Having access to a washer and dryer was a big plus for us.
The house was very clean and well furnished. Sometimes when you stay in a rental, you get the feeling that the furnishings are cast-offs from the owner's home - but this house feels very intentional in it's furnishings; the beds are comfy and the house is visually appealing.
The home is nestled along the shoreline of a lake, and while there are other homes along the lake, the nearby houses are settled in among the trees, so you still have a feeling of seclusion.
Very lovely property. Should my travels take me to Alaska again, I would definitely stay here.
Beautiful views and water sport equipment for the lake! Home is beautiful as well with many creature comfort’s, soft sheets / towels / etc. lovely lake home! We had a great time exploring in in local towns! Thank you for a wonderful stay!
We couldn't have asked for a better place! Perfect base camp if you plan on checking out Talkeetna, Hatcher's Pass and Matanuska Glacier. Basically all the activities north of Anchorage and you don't want to drive for hours. The cabin is 10 to 15 minutes away from Wasilla for supplies and restaurants. Troy's place is beautiful! Peaceful lake for kayaking and canoeing after your day of adventuring, great for the family. Cabin has everything you need as well. Troy is extremely responsive and great to work with. Highly reccomend!!
Our family absolutely loved this quiet property on beautiful Blodgett Lake. Troy was an outstanding host and responded rapidly to any questions we had during the booking process and seemlessly accommodated our request for a change in our reservation date. Troy warmly welcomed us when we arrived and kept in touch during our stay. As far as the property, it is located minutes from a grocery store that had everything we needed. The house provided a centrally-located base for exploring attractions such as Denali, Seward, Anchorage, and the glaciers to the east and south. The ample parking right in front of the house was greatly appreciated. Inside, the upgraded kitchen was wonderful, and we enjoyed cooking and grilling for several meals during our stay. The living room and bedrooms were quite comfortable for the four of us, and having the washer/dryer was certainly a plus, especially with two teenagers. There were a number of very informative and helpful pamphlets and brochures on area attractions in the living room. The kayaks, canoe, and paddleboat provided with the house were a big hit with our kids, and they explored the entire lake several times over during our stay. Troy also offered fishing tackle, and we ended up catching rainbow trout during our stay. The large lakefront deck allowed us to watch bald eagles and ospreys hunt each day, and we woke to the wonderful sounds of loon calls each morning. From the deck we even watched and photographed a pair of moose frolicking in the lake on a hot Alaska summer day! Troy was extremely knowledgeable about the area and provided many suggestions for places to see since we were first-time visitors to Alaska. We took his suggestion to drive up Hatcher Pass and were not disappointed at the incredible natural beauty and mining history of the area (so close to Wasilla!). Although we were sad to leave after six days, we are so grateful for Troy's hospitality and have beautiful memories of our vacation. We certainly hope to return to this house again someday.
We had a wonderful time at Troy’s place on the lake. It was immaculate and very comfortable. We especially enjoyed being able to use the kayaks out on the lake. Highly recommended!
