Historic and completely renovated two story farmhouse on a large lot. Beautifully appointed with custom wood features including a farmhouse table, island, reclaimed wood walls and shelving. Distinct modern and eclectic decor. Centrally located near the Falls, Niagara Parkway, Niagara on the Lake, casinos, wineries, and the largest outdoor outlet mall in Canada. A great gathering spot in any season with a full kitchen and outdoor space ready to entertain family and friends.
This property was originally known as the “Halfway House”, a tavern built in 1839. It was the only stop of the Erie and Ontario Railway, the first in Upper Canada. It was a horse drawn railroad that carried people and goods from Queenston (below the Falls) to Chippawa (above the Falls), an 11 mile journey. Halfway House was built as a tavern for travelers along the Portage Road. In 1895 the house was rebuilt, either on or using the stone foundation of the original tavern. A lovely stone barn from the original railway still exists on the property.
AN IMPORTANT NOTE: this property being located on an historic crossroads has become a major entry point into Niagara. As a result, street traffic can often be very busy during the day but quiets down significantly at night.

Beautiful home. Perfect for our family vacation. Host was easy to reach and quick to reply. All the essentials were provided. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Great property and location close to many Niagara activities. The host was terrific and the house was a great balance of modern updates with historic charm. The outdoor space is a highlight you won't forget. I highly recommend staying here.
This home is perfection!! They literally have thought of everything. From the wine and chocolates when you arrive to the amazing art, comfy beds, and plenty of pillows and throw blankets in the couches for movie night. The home is located minutes to the falls but you don’t feel at all like you are in a tourist area. There is also incredible hiking and local restaurants just minutes away. Highly recommend!
We stayed here with our family all 6 of us, for our vacation getaway!! Everything/amenities you need is at this house!! Very clean, check in was simple, location was great to all major spots, would definitely stay here again! Very friendly/attentive owners to make our stay!!
We would come back in a heartbeat! Such a lovely, clean house with lovely hosts and a beautiful garden area. Super convenient to get to Niagara Falls and back. The Falls can be so busy so it’s nice to have a quiet space to come back to. Niagara on the Lake was a wonderful bonus and not too far either. This is a special place for sure!
What a lovely little house! The decor was a very charming mix of farmhouse and modern. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The main bathroom is gorgeous and very spacious. Our only wish was we'd come a few weeks later to see all the gardens with spring blooms!
We had a fun time staying in this beautiful quaint old farmhouse. The yard was a cozy place to hang out with family members around a campfire.
The owners were very friendly and met us in person.
Thanks so much
This is the second time we have rented from these owners, they have another property next door that we stayed in last year. We loved the layout and space this property provided and the decor was amazing.
The owners are very friendly and helpful.
We will look to rent this place again next year.
We came for a University graduation trip for our 22 year old daughter who wanted some rest and relaxation close to nature. This property is beautiful. The home is decorated with so much character and history. The garden is beautiful and relaxing. It is located close to the falls, Niagara-on-the lake and anything else you would like to do in the area. The hosts are so kind and helpful. We would love to come back again.
Had the most amazing time. The house exceeded our expectations. We loved the old charm feel, along with the creaky floors. We got to enjoy the outdoor space sitting around the fire pit. We will definitely be back.
We had a girls weekend, seeing the falls and doing a wine tour. This house was the perfect location for both!!! Also, the photos do not do it justice, it’s absolutely beautiful. We hope to come visit and stay here again!
Just a quick trip to the Niagara falls region with our adult kids. Beautiful and thoughtful renovation - both inside and out. Numerous areas to enjoy. Tastefully decorated and a great location for easy access to the falls or Niagara on the Lake. The hosts provided nice recommendations as well.

Why they chose this property
This property was a diamond in the rough when purchased in 2017. It was in a complete state of decline. It has been painstakingly restored and modernized creating a high level of charm and comfort. We have since restored the original Carriage House next door which we also offer as a vacation rental property (see listing VRBO 1648559).
What makes this property unique
This Farmhouse is filled with rustic charm within. The patina of the original wood floors tell the story of over a century of constant use. Introduced modern elements provide a striking contrast to its historic past and provide all the convenience and comforts of modern living.
The outside space is a dream garden with a patio for dining that includes a gas grill. A secluded fire pit area provides a wonderful retreat and includes firewood. The garden has been professionally designed and is planted with hundreds of spring bulbs, perennials, trees and shrubs, surrounded by mature specimen trees. The back and side yard are enclosed with a combination of fencing, stonewalling and gates.
