Welcome to Cotentin, in Normandy, in a small hamlet in the Val de Saire "Le Vast"; Cottage between sea & countryside "Meublé de Tourisme" 3 *.

Quiet in the countryside, on the Cotentin peninsula in the Manche, near Barfleur (elected most beautiful village in France) and Saint-Vaast-La-Hougue in Normandy, "Au fil de l'eau" is a lush greenery close to the seaside.

The region enjoys a mild climate all year round, which is why there are market gardens and remarkable gardens with lush vegetation. Val de Saire is a large garden in the sea.
Exposed stone walls, whitewashed beams, wood stove, "Au fil de l'eau" is a warm cottage with authentic charm located in a small village in the Val de Saire "Le Vast" famous for its brioche.
It is a charming Cotentin village. You will have the opportunity to admire its typical small stone houses, lined up along the Saire where wild ducks paddle peacefully. Its rugged terrain, its river, its waterfalls, its woods and its houses make it a picturesque village where many painters have set up their easels. Around the gîte, the magnificent Norman bocage will offer you a large number of hikes.

Our cottage has a large garden where it is good to have breakfast in the summer. Relaxation areas are available for a reading break, a nap in the sun or a lunch.
Access to the property is via an automated gate (remote control provided upon arrival); private parking allows you to park your car near the cottage. The "Brioche du Vast" is within walking distance, 30 meters away.

The Cotentin peninsula is a paradise: wild landscapes, immense beaches, picturesque villages, remarkable gardens ... unspoiled nature to discover by exploring the many hiking trails of the Manche, Le Val de Saire, La Hague, the Isles coast, the Normandy bocage, Cherbourg, the tourist attractions of Cotentin are numerous and make photo enthusiasts happy.

Our 3 * holiday cottage "Meublé de Tourisme" is close to several tourist sites in Normandy: - Barfleur;
- Saint-Vaast La Hougue and its island "Tatihou" ("Traversées de Tatihou" organized in August);
- Gatteville and its lighthouse;
- La Hague;
- The Côte des Isles;
- The City of the Sea in Cherbourg;
- The Carentan marshes;
- Near the Landing beaches;
- A little further Mont Saint Michel.

Many activities are available to you:
- Walks in the countryside or through hiking trails;
- The beach ;
- Visit of many exceptional gardens in the Cotentin due to the mild climate;
- The Peach ;
- Diving ;
- Sailing...

But also: several equestrian centers and three golf courses (Golf de la Presqu'île du Cotentin (18 holes) at Fontenay-sur-Mer at 17 kms, Golf de Cherbourg en Cotentin (9 holes) at La Glacerie at 20 kms and Golf de the Côte des Isles (18 holes) at Saint-Jean-de-la-Rivière 46 km from the gîte).

DESCRIPTION OF THE GITE

Ground floor: Garden view

The living room is made up of a large living room with fitted kitchen including a fridge, induction hob, oven, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, Nespresso coffee maker, BOSE chain and all the equipment for 6 people ( 12 flat, deep plates ... 12 forks ...) and a baby chair.

The living room is made up of 6 seats including a very comfortable convertible bench, HD flat screen (satellite dish), DVD player around a stove (wood provided), very pleasant at the end of the day.

The bathroom is equipped with a washbasin cabinet, a shower, a towel dryer, a toilet and a washing machine (dryer available in an annex)

Washing machine, dryer, Dyson vacuum cleaner, cleaning products are provided.

The floor is composed of:

A large bedroom: a double bed (160), a half wardrobe and a chest of drawers.

A second bedroom: a 140 bed and a 90 bed, a half wardrobe.
Possibility of an additional bed.

Each bed has new and quality bedding (blankets or quilts available) bedside tables and chairs.

A bathroom: a vanity unit with two sinks, a spacious shower, a heated towel rail and a toilet (bath mat supplied).

On the landing, a work table, a chair and a small bookcase.

On request, provision of baby equipment: baby bed (bed linen provided), bath, stroller, high chair, changing mat, potty, toilet reducer.

Terrace and Garden:

The cottage opens onto a terrace facing south. The garden bypasses the gite, closed and planted.
At your disposal :

Property is clean and well equipped. Owner is very friendly and informative.Unfortunately the rental property is very close to the owners own property, along with two other rental properties. This is not made clear at the booking stage. Be aware if this is not your preference. We usually like more privacy.

2 weeks in Le Vast

Had a wonderful relaxing 2 weeks in a lovely house, fantastic space and gardens to sit in during the sunny days. very close to the main WW2 beaches and the Medieval history of the Cotentin. Would certainly recommend to anyone looking for a great vacation in this area..

Enjoyable return to France.

Excellent gite and location. Very comfortable and well equipped. Situated in a quiet village with a stream running through. Ducks to feed and dogs at the house to make a fuss of. All the Battle of Normandy sites are within easy reach. Would recommend the Dead Man's corner museum at Caretan. Some good beaches. The one at Joinville is exceptional. Thanks to Francoise and Thierry, we were well looked after.

Tasteful,immaculate and bright.

The owners were charming and welcoming, the gite was immaculate and spotless. Although the gite was not on its own private site it was very private and secluded nestling in a large mature and spacious garden. Highly recommended, many thanks to Francoise and Thierry. Ian and Lynn.

5 nights in Le Vast

A warm welcome from Françoise and her husband. This beautifully converted barn in Le Vast made a great base for our first visit to another attractive and interesting part of France. We particularly enjoyed visits to the north coast, thanks to helpful advice from Françoise, and to Barfleur and Saint Vaast-La-Hougue. We also enjoyed walks around the beautiful village. The local boulangerie is outstanding with one shop just minutes away from the gite (a 2nd one is situated at the other end of the village, a longer walk, if the local one is closed).

A perfect place to stay

Spend there two weeks as a family with 4 persons and just got back. We felt at home from the start. The house is in perfect condition, modern, with two comfortable bath rooms and a lovely atmosphere. It is surrounded by a beautiful landscape and the only thing you hear in your bedroom are the sheeps from a distance. Sometimes you can see them in the very back from the kitchen or the bedroom window. Although the very nice owners live on the court, you have your privacy through the fence. We enjoyed the evenings on the terrace, beeing often joined by the nice dogs. The green around the house gives you the opportunity to play some ball, badminton or table tennis. How we like to spend our vacation is a mixture of enjoying the beach, have a lazy day at home and go for some longer day trips through the area. Therefore, this house and its location is perfect! On beachday, we went 15 - 20 minutes to the beaches at St.-Vaast-La-Hougue or -like we did- the beach at Jonville with the nice bar/restaurant at the promotory. We liked the view over the bay and the sea. Very close is a chance to rent Kajaks or Stand-Up-Paddlers. On your way to the beach, you pass the supermarket ...always a good thing! The longer trips we did were to Le-Mont-St.-Michel. The trip took one way about 2:15 and we got the hint to be there early. Thank good we started early and entered Le-Mont-St.-Michel at 9 in the morning. When we left 2 hours later, hordes of tourists entered the small place and it became packed! So yes: Be there early is a good thing! On our way back, we drove by the coast and figured out some more worthy trips. Our favorite town became Granville. We drove there two times, although it is about 1:45 away. But it`s definitely worth! The beautiful old part of town on the rock with the superb view over the town, the harbour and the sea is wonderful! Below the rock are many good restaurants für sea food or pasta. And of course: Many small and interesting shops my family liked a lot. On our way back, we used to stop at Hauteville-sur-mer. There is a huge and wonderful beach to rest, swim and enjoy vacation, before driving back to Le Vast. On other days, we visited the small villages in the area or hiked at the wild coast on the west side near Jorbourg, about 1 h away. Ah, also a nice trip was Omaha Beach and from there to Bayeux. Omaha Beach is about an hour away and good to combine with some shopping at Bayeux. Nice town with nice shops. A perfect stay

Erg vriendelijk en correct onthaald. Duidelijke communicatie voor aankomst en tijdens het ontvangst. De eigenaars haaden zelfs een kleine lokale attentie voorzien. De eigenaars wonen op het domein. Ze zijn erg behulpzaam, lief, attent en houden zich op de achtergrond. Prijs-kwaliteit zeker OK! Bedankt voor de angename vakantie!

Le gîte se trouve dans une superbe propriété, il est très bien équipé, propre et fonctionnel, il ne manque rien. Au calme absolu, un bonheur d'entendre les oiseaux chanter. Il y a de nombreux sites aux alentours à visiter, à voir, il y en a pour tous les goûts, petits et grands. Françoise et Thierry sont accueillants, nous avons eu le plaisir de croiser Françoise quelques fois dans le jardin pendant notre séjour et elle nous a bien conseillé pour les visites, points de vue, balades, restaurants,... aussi nous avons passé de petits moments 'papote' bien agréables. Leurs 2 compagnons à 4 pattes, Rémus et Olaf sont adorables, quel plaisir de jouer avec eux et de les câliner. Nous avons passé un excellent séjour et espérons y retourner dans le futur. Tout a été parfait.
