About this property
Stylish Cabin in 12 Acres of Private Forest
Leave the city, come breathe some fresh air and relax with the majestic cedar trees!
I have a nicely decorated, clean one bedroom cabin (550 sq ft) in 12 acres of forest far away from the hustle of modern life. Come to hike, walk, swim, read, write or just watch the stunning pine trees.
A queen bed in a small bedroom, sleeper sofa and small loft with a queen mattress are available for two people to choose their sleeping spot. There are ample cotton linens, necessary kitchen amenities, dishes, wine and martini glasses, etc. and a washer and dryer.
Unplug from it all and relax in the peace of your own forest. I live up the hill from the cabin; however, the privacy of the forest hides my home. No neighbors can be seen from the cabin and my Whispering Pines Forest is pristine.
Watch the deer and turkeys walk by, play a game of horseshoes and use the old fashioned outhouse. Don't worry the cabin has plumbing, hot water, a toilet and shower/tub! (It is a small bathroom with a low ceiling.)
There is no T.V., phone or internet and the cell reception is spotty. You can walk up the short, dirt road to get cell reception and then log into my internet, if desired.
Unwind with a good book, build a puzzle and take a contemplative walk in the forest or nearby trail, about 5 minutes walk from the cabin.
There is easy, ample parking in front of the cabin with lots of room for your toys (boat, ATVs’, etc.). Bring your saw and fall a dying tree, if you like! Afterwards light a campfire in front of the cabin to relax.
More action oriented, head three miles down to Lake Pend Oreille at Talache Landing for a swim or to launch your canoe or kayak. Mirror Lake, a small lake, is also about two miles away for swimming and rentals of small boats or old paddle boats for $30-45 a day. Bottle Bay is a nice swimming beach with a little restaurant too.
Head into Sandpoint for restaurants, a beach walk and swimming, parasailing, small plane sightseeing, lake cruise, horseback riding, boat and bike rentals and nearby hiking and surrounding area.
*The neighborhood is mainly doublewide homes with working class folk. The surplus of dogs can occasionally bark. A neighbor runs a generator for his power (grr!!), so you can hear a low hum when outside the cabin if you are attempting to sit in silence. If you are talking and moving around you will not hear the generator.
There is a convenience store and gas station (Conoco) and Dollar Store (with some groceries) 20 minutes or so from the cabin at Sagle Road and the 95. The grocery stores are in Sandpoint, another 10 minutes north. There is a Super One in Athol 45 minutes south of Sagle right off the 95 on your way up, if you’re coming from the south.

What a lovely cabin in the woods. Quiet, peaceful, clean, with all the comforts of home. We spent 6 days there and would definitely stay again if we were in the area.
The most peaceful location with spectacular views. Tarin was extremely accomodating and sweet when we arrived early, offered us some great ideas in the area to spend our time, including the look out from her own residence. We truly enjoyed the location and feel of being secluded. The trails and quick access to Lake Pend Oreille was superb.
Really enjoyed our stay, Whispering Pine Cabins has all the comforts of home but nestled in the woods. Enjoyed our trip the cabin had all the amenities and we loved hanging out by the fire after a long day on the numerous lakes around. No wifi or cell service was an added bonus for unwinding. 10/10 would stay again.
Beautiful cabin secluded in the forest. Very clean, cute and cozy. While we did not get the chance to meet Tarin in person, she was very frendly in our texts, ready to help and quick to respond. I will be staying there when ever im in the area.
We loved the cabin. It was tucked beautifully in the woods! There was no internet connection which made it difficult for us to find information connecting us to the destinations we planned on visiting. The drive in was fun, but lengthy and dusty. We loved visiting beautiful. Mirror Lake on the road to the cabin.
This little cabin in the woods is so charming and lovely! We loved the opportunity to disconnect and enjoy the beauty of Idaho, while staying in the perfect location! The cabin was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed spending time reading, cooking, playing games, and walking on the property. We loved being able to walk to the top of the hill and sit to enjoy the view. Tarin was a PERFECT host. Her communication helped us so much. We unfortunately had to leave a couple days early due to an uncontrolled wildfire. Tarin was truly amazing to work with even when going through her own trial of being evacuated. We can’t wait to return and enjoy this little slice of heaven!
We loved our stay at this remote cabin. It is very comfortable and cozy, a charming little place. Secluded in the woods with deer & wild turkey, it is quiet and relaxing. We really enjoyed sitting on the patio listening to the wind in the trees and the birds sing while having our coffee in the morning.
The cabin was very well stocked with just about everything one could need ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.
It is just like the pictures and even better in person. You can take a short walk up the hill for amazing views of the lake. We had a great experience with our stay there.
Thank you Tarin.
I let my hubby pick the place this time and he opted for the remote cabin in the woods. I wasn’t expecting much to tell the truth - but this 101 year old cabin was such a sweet place to stay. It really felt private and away from it all but it’s closer to town than it feels. It is also close to beautiful Mirror Lake and the Talache launch on Pend Oreille. Tarin has decorated the cabin so adorably and there are so many thoughtful touches to make our stay even better. We didn’t have to worry about our kayaks or bikes being bothered. My husband loved the place too. It’s quirky and comfortable. It stayed nice and cool and we slept like logs. We didn’t even miss the lack of TV or wifi or cellular. In fact I think that’s part of the charm. You can really disconnect from real life and just enjoy the peace and solitude and beauty of the area.
In a word, perfect! The location of this cabin is deep in the woods and is very much what you dream of when you think about the word cabin. Quiet, peaceful and serene I could not have asked for a better experience or a nicer host, Tarin thought of literally everything when setting up such a fantastic place to stay. We enjoyed chatting with her and taking in one of the most breathtaking views of the lake I have ever witnessed nearly every day. The road in was a little bumpy in my heavy pickup but brought back so many wonderful memories of being with my dad in the woods when I was younger. We loved every minute we spent here and intend to be back as often as we can, spending the nights around the campfire and the days in peace and solitude. The trips to Sandpoint were a lot of fun as well, great food at Mick Duffs! The local shops were fun and the big park was a blast walk around and watch the sailboats, we took so many great pictures! I could go on and on about all the great things this cabin offers but some things you'll just have to find out for yourself. We will be back! Pete -N- Kelly
This was the best stay! The cabin is perfect! All the amenities you need and wonderful off-the-grid vacation! The host is super sweet and she provides everything you need except food! It was hard to leave, but we will for sure book again in the future!
Terin is the best! She is such a great and communicative host! This was our third year at the property and we will be coming back next year as well. The lake is so amazing and warm to swim in and close to the cabin. So peaceful and quiet the perfect place to go to unplug and relax.
This is a great, super cute, cabin to get away from it all. Tarin is an awesome, attentive, and thoughtful host. She thinks of every detail (down to the sticks to roast marshmallows over the fire) and we felt well cared for.
We were looking for a very simple getaway and found our favorite time to be relaxing around the fire pit, having our breakfast and coffee and just enjoying the scenery and quiet.
Thanks so much Tarin! We look forward to staying again!
Beautiful, very quiet, peaceful and everything my wife & I were looking for.

About the host
Hosted by Tarin Olson
I escaped a large, densely populated, noisy urban jungle to live amongst magnificent pine and cedar trees, breath fresh air and hear the wind across Lake Pend Oreille while taking in it’s beauty. A homebody by nature, I am in heaven on my homestead.
When the restlessness sets in every few months or so, I take a little vacation, just a drive or plane ride away. After the “highlife” craving is satisfied, I’m eager to return to my serene home.
Being a hostess to my cabin guests gives me great joy, especially in sharing this rustic property. I aim to provide you with whatever you need—complete privacy, a chat, help, or requesting something that would suit the cabin. I live just up the small hill from the cabin and am easily available. Still the various pine trees block our line of sight.
Additionally, I’ve traveled a fare amount in Europe for several months and for short stints to major U.S. cities, as well as 1-3 week trips each in British Columbia, B.C.; Mexico, Morocco, Egypt, Turkey, Romania, Thailand and Hong Kong.
