Our stay at this beautiful farmhouse in Poultney, Vermont was everything we hoped for. The accommodations were cozy, clean, and thoughtfully renovated, preserving the rustic charm of a 1920s farmhouse while offering modern comfort. It was exactly as described. We loved being within walking distance of the quaint and friendly downtown and especially appreciated how close we were to the Poultney Rail Trail. Our adult children rented bikes and had a fantastic morning... breakfast on Main Street, then pedaling through the golden fall leaves and under Vermont’s wide-open skies. The host was gracious and communicative, making everything seamless and welcoming. It was the perfect blend of comfort, nature, and small-town warmth. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a peaceful and memorable Vermont getaway.
Exactly as advertised, great location for the golf tournament. Clean and cozy Would rent again..

Dear Richard,
I am so glad you enjoyed your stay. The house is very special to us, and it means a lot to us that you felt comfortable and at home here. We hope you come again!
My family and I had another great trip to VT. We have stayed in this house for 3 years (I think) in a row and we love it. We look forward to coming back next year! Thanks much!
Warm inviting home in the foothills of the Green Mountains. Beautiful view of snow-covered fields that borders the property. Home is set in the quaint village of Poultney, which offers trails, shops and dining. Sandra is an excellent host and is always readily for any issues if they should arise.
Beautiful home that had everything we needed. A suggestion for future guests include a window AC unit in all four bedrooms. The window fans did not cool it down enough. Also we could tell it no one lived there full time. It was surface level clean but spider webs, dead bugs in almost every corner. Needs a good deep clean. Additionally, the oven was not working but the stovetop was.

Dear John,
Thank you very much for your review and I appreciate your comments.
I do appreciate you letting us know that the oven was not working properly - it was frequently used by the guests just before you arrived, and I will have someone look at it right away to see why it wasn't functioning for you.
I am also glad to know that the cleaning staff did not do a thorough job before you arrived. That will also be dealt with promptly.
I hope those issues did not detract too greatly from your stay, and we hope that you return in the future. If you do, please communicate while you are there if something is not working or if something could be improved on - I would look forward to correcting and/or fixing it right away.
My family and I enjoyed another week staying at the farm house. As usual everything was clean orderly and ready for our arrival. Sandra is an excellent host and her communication is always prompt. We can’t wait to come back again next year.
Quaint home with beautiful view of farmland and woods. Sandra is an excellent host, who is readily available for questions and concerns. Many great restaurants in Poultney center. Short trip to Manchester for shopping, fine dining and to visit the summer home of Robert Todd Lincoln.
Beautifully restored home filled with charm & warmth. Beautiful view of farm pastures & tree covered hills. One of the bedrooms overlooks this magnificent view. I awoke one morning to early morning fog covering the pasture & the sun rising. It was a wonderful way to start my day.
We loved staying at this house, a perfect combination of charming, quaint Vermont, and the modern updates needed for a comfortable summer stay. Sandra responded immediately whenever we had questions, and we appreciated all of the attention to detail that made our stay even more special. From the house, it was a quick walk to downtown Poultney, and an easy drive to Lake St. Catherine, blueberry picking at Hicks Farm, and hiking around a Japanese Zen garden and up Mount Zion in Hubbardton. We hope to return to this beautiful home soon!
Our family was attending my son's wedding at his wife's grandmother's house on Lake St Catherine. We could not find a house on the lake, but this house made up for it.
This house is in a great location, walking distance to downtown Poultney, where you can get great food, walking trails, and remembrance shopping.
The house was very clean and had every amenity that anyone would need.
Sandra is a great host, we had a smoke alarm go off 2 days in a row at about 6:15 am, contacted her and she had her caretaker come and fix it on same day. O highly recommend this house if your in the Poultney area. You will highly impressed

Dear Tracy,
I am so glad you chose our house for your special trip, and I hope you visit us again. You were the perfect guests!
I will start by saying that the owner, Sandra, responds very quickly to messages, and she sent a reminder about the check-out process the day before we were scheduled to leave. The area is quiet, and served as a home base for our daily excursions within Vermont and upstate NY. Our 11 and 15 year old nieces especially enjoyed the Adventure Center at Killington (approx. 50 minutes away), The Vermont Teddy Bear Factory tour (approx. 1 hour 20 minutes away), and Lake George (approx. 45 minutes away). My husband's favorite was visiting the replica of the original Star Trek set in Ticonderoga, NY (approx. 45 minutes away). Taps Tavern in Poultney is so good, we ate dinner there twice. (Great wings, salads, pulled pork, and fried calamari.) We also enjoyed brunch at Johnny Boys Pancake House in Rutland (approx. 30 minutes away). The beds in the four upstairs bedrooms are surprisingly comfortable, and the downstairs is quite spacious. I am a meticulously clean person, and the house, while very tidy, didn't fully meet my standards of cleanliness. The owner was apologetic when I texted her about this. Our last two days were very hot, and only one of the bedrooms had a window air conditioner installed. The others had window fans that we installed. The ground floor rear windows have neither curtains nor blinds, nor do the windows at the top of the stairs, which made the house even hotter. We were advised that the upstairs toilet had weak plumbing, so the downstairs toilet was the designated "#2 toilet. " Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

We are so glad you enjoyed your visit to VT and chose our house as your home base. The area is perfect for making lasting memories!
We appreciate your note about the cleanliness and have reinforced our standards with the cleaning staff to ensure that they clean under the sofas and inside the washing machine. In addition, the upstairs toilet has been completely fixed and is in full working order (the plumber was not available until your checkout day).
We always appreciate such feedback, as it allows us to continually improve the experience for future guests.
We hope you return to the area for future vacations, and we would love to host you again.
Enjoyed a winter's getaway with my daughter and 3 grandchildren. House is warm and welcoming. So many outdoor activities in the area for the children. Had a wonderful time.
My family and stayed at the farmhouse for the second year in a row. Just like last year everything was clean and orderly when we arrived. The house is charming and just as described in the site. Dealing with Sandra was a pleasure as she is always quick to respond. We look forward to coming back again next year!
Spent a delightful long weekend with my 2 grown daughters. House is very welcoming & feels like home. Sandra is an excellent host & readily available for questions.
The house is charming and exactly as advertised. It is clean and well cared for.
My whole family has been staying on Lake St Catherine for over 40 years in the same house. When it recently sold and we could no longer rent we had to split up into smaller groups and each rent a house (other family members had a house on the lake for swimming). The farm house was exactly what we were looking for. It is large and spacious, comfortable and clean, all in all very well kept. The kitchen was great for cooking and the dining room was a great size to have the rest family over for dinner. We can not wait to come back.
We stayed for one week while visiting family and appreciated this welcoming property in Poultney, VT. Comfy beds and bedding, soft, pure white towels; two room air-conditioners and a fan in the living room made the record-setting heat more bearable. Easy walk to downtown cafes and grocery store. Would definitely stay here again when visiting Poultney.
The property was perfect for our family of six to get away from the hustle and bustle of NYC. Five rooms, 2 bathrooms, and plenty of space to cook, dine, relax, and gather. It was our home away from home. We are protestants so we were able to navigate to Middletown Springs Community Church which is 9 miles away from the property, which was essential for us. The ski resorts and attractions are in close enough proximity to enjoy the drive and arrive without needing to stretch. When I needed to communicate with Sandra, she was responsive and accommodating. The next time I am here with family or friends, we will have one less concern of booking a home as this will be our homeaway in Vermont.

It is evident that every effort was made to ensure a comfortable stay. The home was clean and comfortable. We had 6 adults fit very comfortably. It's a very quick and nice walk into Poultney which is a very small, but quaint town. overall, a great place to spend the weekend!

Why they chose this property
Poultney, VT has always been a special place for me, ever since spending childhood summer vacations at Lake St. Catherine State Park. Each year we would drive by the beautiful home at 341 South Street in Poultney to see the home where my mother grew up. Built in the 1920s, the Botsford Farmhouse had always been a warm and welcoming home where friends gather and families create memories. During its rich lifetime it has been at turns a single family home, a boarding house for teachers at the local High School and college, and a relaxing vacation property.
In the Spring of 2018 I was fortunate enough to take over the care of this special property. After fully renovating the property, I am now happy to share this home with guests who would like to enjoy the peacefulness, beauty and warmth of this beautiful part of Vermont.
