About this property
Biking, Hiking, Wildflowers, Pets, Heart of Town!
Welcome to the Crystal Creek condo!
Enjoy a fully stocked kitchen, and clean, convenient, affordable accommodations, just steps from the Free Shuttle and Grocery Store for less $ than a hotel room!
If you are looking for value in the town of Crested Butte but not looking to compromise on location, this is your perfect property. This comfy and clean condo is within walking distance to all of Historic Downtown’s shops, restaurants, and entertainment, and a stones throw from the grocery store, the Center for the Arts, Town Park, and right on the free Mt. Express shuttle stop which runs to the base area of Mt. Crested Butte every 15 minutes.
The first floor is home to two bedrooms (one King and one Queen). Both rooms have large closets for your belongings. There is also a full bathroom on this floor.
Upstairs, on the second level, is the recently upgraded kitchen with brand new stainless steel appliances, new dining sets and glasses, and all the utensils you need for whipping up a meal.
The bright and sunny living area offers an open feel and a large LCD T.V. to watch your favorite movies and shows, and comfortable seating. As well, dedicated and secure wireless internet has been included with this condo. Another full bath is located on this level.
This property sleeps up to four people.
Well-behaved pets are welcome. Please note that the HOA has a strict, 1 dog maximum limit, max weight 50lbs (sorry no cats). The pet fee is $100 (+ tax) per pet. All pets MUST be supervised or appropriately crated during their stay.
Please note that this incredibly convenient and affordable unit sits adjacent to an unpaved alleyway (not uncommon in Crested Butte,) so the parking lot may get dusty on dry Summer days. Additionally, like most Condominium Complexes in the heart of Downtown, expect to see and hear neighbors and fellow visitors in the immediate vicinity during normal hours during peak season, though nights are generally quiet, as this unit is 3 blocks from Elk Avenue, home to Downtown’s many restaurants and watering holes.
We are always happy and willing to assist with ski and bike rentals and to share our local knowledge.
*Please read disclosures below before booking*
Guests will be required to sign a guest rental agreement prior to receiving check-in and driving directions.
The condo is allowed 1 parking space in the shared complex parking. Please note that the parking area is first come, first serve and parking spaces are not guaranteed. During the winter season, parking may be limited due to snow removal and storage.
RVs and campers are prohibited at all Watchdog properties.

Condo was great! Walking distance to everything in downtown Crested Butte. We enjoyed being close to the market across the street. Condo had everything we needed and was very clean. Host was quick to respond to questions. Looking forward to staying here again!
Our stay at this property was fantastic! Close to the main drag so everything is extremely walkable. Right across the street from a large open space to let the dog stretch its’ legs during work from home days. Highly recommend this property; it’s everything we needed for our trip to CB.
Loved crested butte, and this property was easy and close to town. We didn’t use our car once, just biked and walked. We booked last min but overall were pleased with our stay
Perfect split-level condo with an excellent location, easy parking, and solid access to downtown and across from the grocery store. Would def stay again
My kids and I enjoyed being in town and so close to everything Crested Butte has to offer. The condo was clean and had all the kitchen amenities available to make it easy to make our own meals. The management company was very responsive when we needed assistance and the accommodations suited our needs nicely!
The location is great being right next to the market and the shuttle stop. The host responded very quickly to our messages. As other reviews have mentioned a mat inside the door would be handy for snowy and muddy boots. And a ski locker would be ideal since it's a ski town. But overall we enjoyed the stay and would return.
This is a totally adequate condo within walking distance of Elk Ave. The view of Mt Crested Butte is incredible. It’s not fancy but it’s comfy.

Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry to see you did not have a "five star" experience. We are delighted to represent this clean, cozy, pet-friendly and incredibly convenient property, priced perfectly for travelers on a budget. For the price of a hotel room, you can enjoy 2 private bedrooms, 2 private decks, a fully stocked kitchen, and a living room with a view- we think it's one of the best deals in the Valley! Of course for those who seek something fancier, we offer plenty of those properties too, we'd like to think we have something for every traveler, on every budget. We hope you come back to see us soon, and please have a look at some other options on our website.

Great spot, in downtown CB on a budget that's pet friendly - didn't think it was possible! Clean spot, loved accessibility to bus, market & Elk Ave. The plumbing was a little finicky, but Sean addressed it immediately. He's lovely!
Hi Monica, thank you for the feedback. We are delighted to offer "something for everybody" here at Watchdog Vacation, Crystal Creek may possibly the best deal in Town! Conveniently located, tidy, and spacious, we love being able to offer an affordable option for visitors on a budget. That said, this unit is well-loved, and always clean and welcoming for those seeking comfort, convenience, and access to any type of Crested Butte adventure, without breaking the bank- your very own pet-friendly end unit with a fully stocked kitchen and room to spread out for the price of a hotel room.
Naturally, we also offer many more updated and fancier options, please have a look at our website next time you are looking to book, you may find exactly what you're looking for!

Summer vacation
Overall nice place. Had everything we needed to be comfortable and close to downtown. Very noisy as it was next to construction so kind of detracted from the mountain experience. Also the listing photo leads you to believe it’s alot newer and more modern. Overall pleasant experience.

Hi Chrissy,
We are glad you enjoyed your stay. We apologize about the construction noise, I know that can be a bummer. We hope that you'll return to stay with us again soon!
First, this place was great. Good location, nice beds, clean place. Heather was very nice and enjoyed talking to her.
Crested Butte is awesome also. Slightly run down building. It's my first VRBO experience so this may be standard practice, but the fees were a huge turn off. I paid almost double the advertised rate. Rules are posted everywhere also, which if you don't follow you may incur another fee...

Mary,
I am sorry to see this negative review as we certainly tried our best to accommodate you. There was no TV guide because the property has Hulu which doesn't have a guide like traditional cable. This is the first I'm hearing of a dirty rug.. when you called about the stopper we immediately sent someone to purchase one and bring it to you. I apologize for the heat but properties here in CB don't have a/c and we've never had any issues with the fans upstairs not being sufficient. We don't typically provide hangers, so I apologize if that was an inconvenience. As I said before, we made every attempt to resolve everything you brought to our attention but we cannot fix things we are unaware of. I'm glad you at least enjoyed the location and hope you and your friend had a good time in CB.
Conveniently located with nice view. Well ventilated comfortable living room. Older furniture still comfortable. Only 2 glasses and 2 cups in kitchen. Stairway carpet badly stained. Patio is not really sittable...narrow and inside view so no attractive outdoor seating. Lots of gravel and mud around parking and entry so hard to keep clean. Beds comfortable but sheets and blankets older and a little shabby. Dog friendly. Functional and worked fine for us. Would recommend as good spot for dog friendly vacation. Thanks

Hi Letha, thank you for your feedback, we are truly sorry to hear about the glasses and cups, we will replace these right away.
Though we feel our description of this incredibly affordable and convenient unit is accurate- your own 2 bedroom condo for the price of a hotel room, we will revisit to ensure our guest's expectations are in line with what this perfectly-priced pet-friendly unit has to offer, in hopes of seeing the number of starts it truly deserves- definitely one of the last great "deals" in Downtown Crested Butte!

Spring getaway
Property location is great. It could use some updates but was clean and well kept. It would have been nice to have snow cleared at the front entry and a rug/mat inside the door to help manage snow and dirt that is easily tracked in. Check in info was confusing because the driving link they sent gave us an inaccurate address and no unit number. When I messaged the morning of our arrival asking for this info they told me it would be emailed later in the day when unit was cleaned. When we arrived 2 hours after the check in time we still had not received the accurate address and unit number and had to spend time hunting down someone to give us that info verbally over the phone. Overall stay was good.

While we do appreciate any and all feedback, along with the opportunity to fine-tune and improve our services, this review is incorrect, and is currently being evaluated by VRBO Support as it's content is false. Kris received and opened our driving and check-in instructions twice, once at the time of booking, and a second time the day of arrival. These instructions include the property Address, along with the unit number, as well as a description of the best place to park, and the easiest way to access the unit. Also on these instructions is our 24 hour after-hours number, which Kris could have called for an immediate response, rather than leaving a voicemail at our office after 5pm. Also, the voicemail message on our office line clearly provides the after hours number, along with the office hours. In 4 years of steady rentals, we have never had a guest have trouble finding this unit. Additionally, the only document we send with the address of this property includes the Unit number (3 times on the directions, to be clear.) Though we feel badly for Kris having a negative experience, she had all the info she needed to easily access this unit, she also had a very clear description of our check-in policy and instructions to follow, as well as a phone number for 24 hour assistance.
What I loved:
1. The Location: This condo is directly across the street from the grocery store, and close to downtown Crested Butte, the Arts Center, and meeting places for the Wildflower Festival classes.
2. The set-up: There are 2 bedrooms downstairs and a bathroom. Upstairs is open with another bathroom, a small kitchen, a dining area, and a living room.
3. The communication from the managing company (Watchdog Vacation Rentals) was excellent. There were a few minor issues that came up and they were on it, taking care of anything & answering in a timely fashion.
What I liked:
1. The furniture was comfortable.
2. The beds were comfortable. I appreciated having the king size bed, even if it was a little tight. (The other bedroom has a queen bed.)
3. The kitchen was adequately supplied with pots, pans, and appliances.
What could be improved:
1. Although it had been cleaned, it had that grimy appearance that happens with seasons of use. (Dirty grout, worn & stained area rugs, chips and stains in doors and cabinets). That being said, this is a dusty area and there’s no way to keep that out of the condo.
2. The decor is a mish-mash and the cabinets are worn and old. The place has a very heavy, uninviting atmosphere - could use updates/a little HGTV touch needed.)
3. There is no air conditioning which is not an issue - but needs window screens!
THE GOOD NEWS: According to the property team, a major upgrade at the end of the season. 5 stars then!
You can’t beat the location. Right next to the grocery store, living room looks directly at mt. crested butte. Just a few blocks to downtown, basically everything is walking distance. The house of was clean and had all the necessities.
The one con I will say is the downstairs where the 2 bedrooms are had a musty smell.
Location was perfect! Place was clean! Great for our family!

About the host
Hosted by Sean Turner
My name is Sean Turner. I moved to Crested Butte in the early 1990's to experience the legendary snowboarding and skiing once hidden away in this historic mining town. I soon learned that the real beauty of Crested Butte was it's community- artists and athletes, ranchers and dreamers, a colorful mix of unique souls all united in a deep appreciation of the Gunnison Valley's wide open spaces, clean air and water, and limitless opportunity for outdoor recreation. I also learned that Summer in the Valley is just as amazing as Winter, and realized that I had found my happy place.
My wife Ginny and I met here and made a life together, raising two amazing kiddos with the help of the local community- our old ski partners, peers, and dear friends became our children's teachers and administrators, mentors and guides. To me, this will always be the essence of Crested Butte- a small town where neighbors smile and take time to catch up, where all are welcome, in an environment so magnificent that folks travel from all over the world just to experience it.
We are grateful to host visitors from far and wide, and despite the fact that our little town has grown quite a bit over the past few decades, we do our best to preserve the feeling of community and connectedness that makes this little corner of the Elk Mountains so appealing.
