We had a wonderful stay! The home was clean, comfortable, and peaceful, tucked away on the mountain with beautiful surroundings. It’s in a great location—just a short and easy ride to Penn State and the stadium. The thoughtful muffin gift basket was such a nice touch and made us feel very welcome. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing stay near campus!
The house and property are amazing! So peaceful and beautiful outside and in! Perfect place to relax with family and enjoy the fire pit and some smores the night before the Penn State football game. The open floor plan allowed all of us to gather inside and the porches and deck were fabulous for enjoying nature and just hanging out!

Love visiting PA. We always look for those stays that are secluded. Check in was easy, house was clean. Did see quite a few lady bugs. Games were available which we took advantage of for a family game night. We enjoyed our stay!

Thankyou for the positive review. We are happy you enjoyed your stay. Apologies for the lady bugs... they are vacuumed up the day of guest arrival, however in this season they get in around the windows and doors on the south side of the house quickly! Something that comes with having a home in the woods!
Amazing location tucked away and surrounded by beatiful views and wildlife. Met up with family for the weekend and this was the ideal setup for 6 of us to unplug for the weekend. Would highly recommend, Jeff & Amy are great hosts!

We are happy our Mt House served your family a relaxing weekend!! Thankyou for your review and come back again!!
This is a great home in a beautiful area outside of State College. The owners were great and responsive, provided all of the necessities and was very clean. It is a little bit away from Penn State but close enough if you were going to a game and also want to get away from the chaos of a football weekend.
This house was perfect! We were visiting our kids at Penn State on a football weekend. Loved the location and the amenities, house was very clean, and such a peaaceful place to come back to at the end of the day. Loved gathering around the firepit at night. Would love to come back again!

Located just about 30 minutes from State College, this was a perfect spot for getting in and out of PSU for a football game! Would have loved to have more time to explore the property and relax at the house. Great communication from the owners and will definitely be bookmarking this for future trips! :-)

We are so glad you had a great stay! Please come back again!
We stayed the weekend of a Penn State home football game, and it worked out great. 30 minutes from PSU, plenty of space to hang out, grill some dinner, and enjoy the big family room. A great place to get away from the busy town during a game weekend, yet close enough to drive back and forth. We'd definitely stay again. At first we thought it was a bit pricey but it was easily in line with everything else the weekend of the big game with Ohio State.

Stayed Friday and Saturday evenings, in town for the Penn State game. The house was everything that was advertised. The owners were great and provided clear instructions and guidance. The house is beautiful, and the property is well maintained. The house had everything we needed, the kitchen is well equipped. We would definitely stay there again.

Thankyou for staying with us at Spotted Hart Mountain House, and we are happy you had an enjoyable time. We appreciate your review! Please come back again!
Our stay was truly wonderful! Communication with the owners was great, and you can feel their genuine hospitality without ever meeting them in person! Upon arrival, there was a welcome basket with homemade baked goods! The house was super clean and beds were really comfortable! Although we were in town for a football weekend and not at the house much, the views and outdoor experience would have been awesome to enjoy if we had more time. Also, the basement was such a surprise - filled with all kinds of tabletop games! We would definitely stay here again!

We are happy you enjoyed your stay. Thankyou for being great guests and come again!
My husband and I stayed at this lovely property when we came up to visit our freshman son at PSU and take in a football game. Came with my 90-year-old parents and teenage daughter and friend. Place is immaculate, peaceful, and a true "retreat" in the mountains. The owners were so communicative and helpful in suggestions for dining, navigating the area and flexible with a later check out so the boys could spend a little more time with their dad and pop-pop. Couldn't have asked for a better stay!

About the host
Hosted by Amy & Jeffery Hartman
We are family oriented with 4 children and 14 grandchildren that grew up on horse farms in the area. God has blessed us with this property and a strong desire to share its peace and beauty with others. Jeff has a dental practice in Huntingdon County since 1980 and partnered with our daughter Shilo to open Altoona office in 2019. Amy is actively involved in ministry at our church in State College, cares for grandchildren frequently, and manages our rental properties and farm workers.
Why they chose this property
The Mountain House was built by the original owners of our farm as their second home when they relocated. In 2016 we purchased the Mountain house and the remaining land to the original farm we live on when the owners were ready to sell. It was always our desire to reunite all the acres of the original farm, and when the opportunity came, we were excited to see that dream fulfilled. We did consider relocating to the Mountain House and we occasionally stay there and share it with out of town family. As beautiful as it is, we enjoy life in our home on the main part of the farm where we can watch our horses run through the fields, and have easy access to our barns. Sharing the Mountain House with family and guests is something we enjoy.
What makes this property unique
We have stayed in many places through out the world. The beauty, peace and tranquility of this Mountain home is up there with any we have visited. The opportunity to view most of the wildlife of Pennsylvania exists from the back deck while in your bathrobe sipping your favorite morning beverage. There is opportunity to explore the rich and diverse landscapes and culture of central Pennsylvania. The Amish community of Belleville is over the mountain in one direction and the culture of Penn State University is over the other mountain, and scattered throughout are many quaint small villages and towns that offer a variety of experiences for the traveler who enjoys country living at its finest.
