About the Area
Nestled just 4 miles inside the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park is the charming and historic town of Wawona. Located at the base of Chilnualna Falls (the second-highest vertical-drop waterfall in Yosemite) and home to the principal trailheads into the southern Yosemite wilderness, Wawona is also the closest town to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. Wawona has the feel of a small town but is bustling with activity! Over 160 residents, including Yosemite Park employees, live in Wawona and can be seen gathering at the town's community center, playing a pickup game of basketball at the elementary school, jogging on one of the many picturesque trails, or simply walking their dogs and baby strollers through the winding residential streets. The historic Wawona Swinging Bridge boasts the best natural water slide in the Park! The history village is filled with docents, stagecoach rides, horseback rides, and barn dances in the summer season, and the Wawona Meadow Loop offers year-round riparian meadow wildlife viewing. Wawona was known to the local Native American Miwok in their language as Pallachun (a good place to stay). It is located entirely within Yosemite National Park (it preceded the founding of the park as a national recreation area), and is located on the South Fork of the wild and scenic Merced River, on the main highway (State Route 41) from Fresno to Yosemite Valley.

It is very close to Yosemite, nature around the cabinet. It makes you feel like you're are in your own home. There is a small market very close to the cabin and you can go by walking.
Very charming cabin with a short drive to the valley. Quiet and peaceful

wonderful home away from home to relax and enjoy nature! it has everything we needed and walking distance to mini-store. Only small request if they can upgrade the bedroom mattress for our achy bodies comfort. Will come back again for sure.

We chose this VRBO because it was
reasonably close to Yosemite Park. It was quite expensive for the price. The carpet was quite spotted around the kitchen, dining room and some areas around the living room. It was small only good for two people. It was veryhard to find in the dark. Signs were small and hard to read. especially in the dark. We had no cell phone reception most of the time. Navigation was spotty. The owners lefy almost no directions in how to sign into the wifi, turn on the tv or how to turn fans on. We use VRBO's yearly. We were so disappointed in this place .We would never recommend this particular place to anyone.
All in all a lovely stay! Very clean, comfy bed, plenty of room to spread out for two people, and we grilled almost every night. Inside the park so didn’t have to deal with day use reservations during COVID. No AC but it cooled down enough for us to sleep comfortably at night even though it was in the 90s every day. The only cons were: no oven mitts - we used the oven a few times but had to use dish towels or a sweatshirt to take things out. There was only dish soap and two tiny bars of soap, so we ended up buying hand soap and shower gel. The boards on the deck were super loose/splintery in areas so wear shoes. Other than that, we had a great stay!

Great place, super clean and beautiful. Had a great time, thanks
My family and I had a wonderful time staying in this property. It is perfectly situated, cozy and well appointed. We were provided with excellent guidelines to help plan our visit, given the Covid 19 pandemic conditions. We will definitely be back!
Very enjoyable stay, exceeded expectations and made for a great Yosemite adventure for our family of 4.
