About this property

WildWood Valley Retreat

During the summer you can sit on our large deck or on our beach and relax. Your children will not get bored with our sandy swim area and play ground with large swing set, slide and climbing bars. The kids will like making s'mores at our island fire pit, and we provide the wood. We have 6 kayaks and and there is plenty of fish in the lake. If you’re bringing your own boat we are located 500 feet from a very nice concrete launch ramp.

This lodge is placed on an elevated 3 acre lot over looking the lake with its own private island to sit by the camp fire.

Large walkout basement for the kids or whole family to enjoy.

What a view !

There is a private beach to play by, plus a private or public launch to get watercraft in and out of the water.

The fall color tours can begin at our Lodge; you can take several two lane roads to Petoskey, Indian River and several other cities in the area while taking in the colors as you travel. For the Arnold Palmer’s in your group there are several world class golf courses located in the area.

In the winter the snowmobiling conditions are great; we are located in the Snow Belt and receive more than our fare share of the white stuff. All wheel drive is highly recommended. We are 3 miles from the Rails for Trails by snow mobile and only 5 miles from Pigeon River Forest, we sit up on a large hill and the kids will enjoy great sledding. For the snowboarders in your family we are less than 35 miles from Boyne Mountain and one hour from the Highlands. Our large parking area will accommodate 10 vehicles.

Spring time brings morel mushroom hunters and spring golf. We are centrally located to accommodate your trips to the forest and the greens.

Our recreation room provides evening entertainment with shuffleboard table, large card table, and a TV for streaming. All 9 of our bed rooms now offer 2 queen size beds and private bathrooms. We provide the linens and towels for your stay but bring your own beach towels. Our kitchen is fully equipped and you can cook for your group with 2 gas stoves, 2 refrigerators, a dishwasher, and micro wave oven.

We are located only a few miles from one of the TOP 10 Mountain biking trails in the USA, Mountain biking in the Pigeon River Forest as noted in Men’s Journal Magazine. We are a member of the Michigan Vacation Rental Assoc.

We have a great location, remote by today's standards. We have seen several eagles as they soared above the lake, heard the call of the coyote's in the evening, the bugling of the elk when the wind is right and the call of the loons in the morning. It’s really a wonderful spot to share with friends and family and quiet enough to hear yourself think.

We loved it. The Woldwood propery is a beautiful setting on Wildwood Lake, very serene and quiet. We enjoyed sitting on the deck overlooking the lake.We found the management team quite responsive to questions and one time when a repair was needed. The two things that would have neen helpful was a floor plan on the website and more space for hanging clothes. That however did not hamper us from having a good time.We would recommend Wildwood especially if you enjoy lodge living. We so enjoyed everything and the good service from the mgmt team.Thank you! Wildwood Retreat

Our Family had a great time. Lots of bedrooms each with their own bathrooms was fabulous! Two refrigerators, two stoves and the Blackstone made things so much easier. The little kids all absolutely loved the beach/pond area, many made use of the kayaks. Thank you to the hosts/owners for making this great place available.

25th Annual spring trail ride

We love this place, its is very well appointed for our group and the size varies from 7 -12 guys, plenty of beds, all rooms have their own bathroom, plenty of seating in the house and on the deck, the view is awesome, the kitchen has 2 ovens and 2 large refrigerators, which is very unique for a rental. This place is great for groups of this size and it is located very close to the Tomahawk motorcycle trail system, which works perfect for our group of guys

Snowmobile Trip

We had a large group stay at the lodge for our annual snowmobile trip. Everyone had their own bed, and every room has its own bath/shower! Great kitchen, as we cook all our breakfast and dinner on the trip. Nothing was needed, the lodge has it all! We will definitely consider staying here again! Thank you, the #snirtydozen

Perfect Retreat

My family and I had an extended stay over a weekend at the beginning of June and it was perfect, The kitchen was WELL stocked - which was extremely welcome and unexpected. Plenty of eating and cooking utensils, pots, pans and space. Plenty of space for the family and the spot on the lake was calm and secluded. We loved that we each had a private bed and bathroom and that each living space, in and outdoors were open and had space for every one. My family already wants to return for a different occasion.

A great place for a family reunion.

We have stayed many years at Wildwood Lodge. The rooms are clean. We love each bedroom having a bathroom. The kitchen has two stoves and two refrigerators which we utilize with our family. This year a new flat screen television was added to the lower level family room. The setting is beautiful with the lodge on a hill overlooking the lake with a fire pit down next to the lake. We had a hot dog roast there.

Summer vacation at Wildwood Lake

This was our 20th year spending a week together as a family near water. We started with 10 adults and 2 grandchildren and now are 10 adults and 10 grandchildren. This was our second year at Wildwood. Good points are the number of bedrooms and restrooms. It does not impress at first look and is well used and functional. Tubing was excellent, but the beach area is not. Some real sand and cleaning up weeds and muck would improve it. We will likely be back next year.

Ideal Time for our Family Gathering

We enjoyed everything about this place! The two refrigerators, stoves, and coffee makers were particularly awesome! The two fire pit areas made for tons of flexible fun. We enjoyed the relaxed but super-boatable lake. Lots of tubing and cruising! The sandy beach was great for the toddlers in tow! So much to do nearby -- Mackinaw, Petoskey, etc. The Marathon gas station just 5 min away was really great; the nearest Meijer/Walmart/etc is 30 min but was well stocked. We enjoyed the golf course and Thirsty Sturgeon, too! Felt so spoiled to have such terrific sleep, too! Comfortable beds and the en-suite shower bathrooms made such a difference!! Thank you to the whole team for helping our family have a much needed gathering after such a challenging couple of years. This was exactly what we ALL needed!

Great Place for a Large Group

The cabin is perfect for a large group. Many bedrooms, each with a bathroom. Kitchen had 2 large fridges and 2 stoves. Basement is perfect for the kids with a walkout area. Communication with the owner was very easy and quick. Overall had a great time. There were a few things that would have made it much better: (Be aware that the pictures don't do justice for how high you are above the lake requiring a steep walk back uphill. Firepit was on the private island which is nice, but you have to walk back uphill to the cabin [don't forget anything lol]. Deck was very nice with a great view, but can get very hot and there is no umbrella.) All in all, a great place to stay if you are aware of a few inconviences.

Perfect for our needs!

We were thrilled to find this very unusual property for our annual weekend getaway. You simply won't find another property that is on water and offers up 9 bedrooms each with their own private full bath. The setup was perfect for us. We spent a fair amount of time watching football, and there are two terrific TV viewing areas that seat 7-8 very comfortably. The kitchen is very good for cooking for a group with two ranges and two fridges, but only one in/out area makes it congested very quickly. The place was clean and tastefully decorated and they have a lot of cookware/dishes/utensils to service a large group easily. The fire pits were awesome (we used the small one every night) and there was a great supply of perfectly dried and split wood and a handy gorilla cart to tote it down to the pit. You can tell that the owners have really put thought into the amenities and they care about your experience. I did need to call the property manager after we checked in, and she called me back within 10 minutes and was very friendly and helpful. This is a great place and we will rent again next year.

You won't find a property like this anywhere else. Nine bedrooms each with their own bathroom, a well-equipped kitchen and comfortable common spaces. All with a simply spectacular view of a beautiful lake. This was our 3rd or 4th time back and each year we see improvements on the property. It's beautiful, clean, and one-of-a-kind! Kim and her team are wonderful to work with too!

Family vacation

The fishing and kayaking on the lake were the highlights for the week!! Very private beach. The kitchen has 2 large refrigerators which was a necessity for our family of 14. Every bedroom has a bathroom but the showers are super tiny. Any time we had a question, the owners replied very quickly.

Excellent for groups and families.

We have stayed here three times now for my annual get-together with some childhood friends. You won't find a better property for larger groups (we had 9) or larger families. Having 9 bedrooms each with their private bathrooms is something you simply will not find anywhere else. The kitchen setup with two fridges and two ranges makes cooking even for a large group of hungry dudes simple and convenient. The kitchen is stocked with any utensil or dish you would need. Two separate TV viewing areas (one up and one down), dinner seating for 12. The hosts are extremely quick to respond and very pleasant to work with. You can tell they are working on improving the property-- it's in the process of being repainted, and they have added a couple large retaining walls. There is also a room stocked with games and fishing poles, and a variety of kayaks you can use while you are there. We love this place and treat it well so we can keep going back.

Great family vacation at Wildwood Lodge for a second year!

Our family, ages 5 through 74, met for a week and we enjoyed having enough bedrooms and bathrooms for everyone. There is a great view of the lake from the deck. We liked the well equipped kitchen, the common areas, and the island with the fire pit. We spent a great deal of time in the water, cruising, tubing, and paddle boarding. Plan to return next year!

Wonderful Rental Home

We had a total of 19 family members (all ages) stay 4 nights at the Wildwood Lodge. It is very remote, but very peaceful and quiet. There are many things to do within an hour drive from the house (Mackinac Island, Mackinac City, St. Ignace, Cheboygan, Petoskey). The Wildwood Lodge also has 6 kayaks and a paddle board available for use, which provided a lot of fun for all. Even though the water was cold, it didn't bother the children. They had fun swimming. Everything in the house is well maintained, including pots and pans, etc. We loved everything about the house and property!

Why they chose this property

This is a cozy Lake Side Chelat hidden 10 minutes off I-75. Just enjoy the Day on the all sports lake with the family. We offer six kayaks and there is a public launch if you decide to bring or rent a water craft. Kids like to search and catch frogs and turtles or just jump of the dock and swim with a raft. In 2015 we put up a new swing set and dumped 30 yards of sandy beachfront. This is not just a rental property but what we call home when we are in the US and take care of it as such. Our goal is to make sure you are as happy and as comfortable as we are when we are home.

What makes this property unique

Perfectly located to visit near by towns, like Petoskey, Gaylord, Mackinac and Rodgers City are all roughly 30 minutes drive if you want to get out and explore the Northern tip of MI. Indian river is a 10 minute drive if you want to rent virtually any kind of outdoor utility vehicle or water craft. When you are done exploring you can come back to the quite lake of Wildwood and listen to the Loons calling and enjoy the sunset view. Cap of the evening with a bon-fire while staring at an umbrella of twinkling Northern stars when the moon is away.
