About this property
Ocean view home on beautiful Sugar/Kihei Beach - PERMIT #STKM 2015/0003
Come and vacation in your own beachside Hawaiian beach home! It is AFFORDABLE AND COVID-19 CLEANED are the keywords for this tropical beach house. Situated on a half-acre, our "feel like home", yet cost-effective 3 BR, 2-1/2 bath beach home with granite counter tops, flat screen TVs and DVD players in each bedroom and living room. Sparkling floor tile throughout the house, glass brick shower, intimate indoor jacuzzi in the master bathroom, full size appliances, beautiful teak wood furnishings and a custom A/C system in each bedroom and living/dinning/kitchen. Each room has it's own A/C control in case you want air conditioning in your room and another person in a different bedroom does not.
Watch the whales, in season (November-April), while you dine either inside the house or on the patio. Enjoy our beautiful Hawaiian sunsets over the water and mountain from your front window and/or covered patio with patio table and chairs and chaise lounges, enough for everyone. Spread a blanket on the lush lawn, play bocce ball with your family and grill fresh fish on the large gas-fired BBQ. Just1/2 block away from the house is a open air farmers market, cute little Island bakery that makes awesome local baked treats, a shave ice shop (snow cone) with "plate lunches", and an ABC convenience store.
Stay in our comfortable and COVID-19 CLEAN beach front beach house for a Hawaiian vacation that you will never forget!
Come stay with us.....we treat all our guests like ohana (family)!!

About the host
Hosted by LINDA AND HARRY VAN'T GROENEWOUT

I, Linda, was born in Puunene, Maui and raised in Kihei. My dad and mom, John and Clara Ventura bought this property back in 1932 when Kihei was not really popular because we were in the "boonies" and sparsely populated and prone to flooding! Kihei was more or less "wetlands". Kihei was just starting to have families buy and move from the sugar plantation housing. The only "hotel" for visitors was Maui Lu Resort on this side of the island!
My dad was the first "real" Postmaster and after he married my mom she became his postal clerk. They both worked for the Post Office well into the 1970's and walked to work every morning, it was only 1 block! The original Post Office was located in the A & B (Alexander and Baldwin) plantation store/Post Office, behind where the now existing ABC Store is located, and then moved to where the now open air Farmer's Market is located. The now existing "new" Post Office is about 2 miles down the road in the Azeka 1 Plaza Shopping Center.
My dad's family came from Portugal, Azores, and my mom's family came to Maui in 1923 from Hiroshima, Japan. I have 2 half brothers from my dad's first marriage (they are Hawaiian/Chinese/Portuguese), a half brother and sister (Texan and Japanese) from my mother's first marriage and my full brother and myself (Portuguese/Japanese) from this marriage. Very diverse family!
I married Harry van't Groenewout (Dutch) in 1969. His family moved to Maui from Porterville, California in 1967. His family is originally from Holland, his parents worked with the Dutch underground during WW2, then moved with him and his brother to America. We have 2 grown children, Keoni and Kearston both are living with our 4 grandchildren in the Mainland. We love this business, making new friends and having them become our Ohana (family) and getting them acquainted with our island home, Maui!

Why they chose this property
We want to share with you the beautiful views and sunsets, looking out from my family's "homestead" property! We are centrally located to all of the venues Maui offers and easy access to the clean, not crowded, "kid friendly" beach, right across the street. We take our grandchildren to this beach whenever they come for visits, too.
What makes this property unique
Not crowded beach, quiet neighborhood and a short 90 second walk to the beach.
