Amazing cozy family home. Had everything we needed. The location could not be better for hiking and mountain biking at Caesar’s Head and DuPont. Joe was a great host and easy to community with. Would definitely stay again!
The cabin was cozy and we really enjoyed all the wonderful museum items that told us the history of the area and the cabin itself. Enjoyed the Banjo, as I have heard it before, but I had never touched one. Love the sound! We have never been to a cabin that was so well stocked. We felt very well taken care of. Whatever we needed was there. The beds & pillows was super comfortable. Towels were so soft and thick. We felt like we were very special. We felt at home. The cabin was easy to get to, and we were welcome with the lights around the screened in porch. We have chairs outside to sit and enjoy the view. Porch was awesome with rocking chairs, table with chairs & much more. Mountain views were great. I could go on and on about this cabin, but best is for you to come and check it out.
This was a perfect mountain get-away for us. The house is full of rustic charm and is stocked with everything a visitor could possibly need to be comfortable. The screened porch was the main attraction for us. We spent hours there breathing the fresh mountain air and reveling in the quiet. Our hosts, Joe and Margaret, were completely responsive and made us feel very welcome. I would definitely go there again!
Wonderful rural retreat on the side of a mountain. We enjoyed hiking the nearby trails and visiting towns such as Brevard, Franklin, Waynesville,Hendersonville, Black Mountain, and of course, Asheville. Thank you so much.
Great stay in Cedar Mountain! Joe and Margaret were great hosts. Kitchen well stocked with everything needed to cook for our family. Cabin was serene and very comfortable. Loved listening to the birdsong and seeing wildlife from the lovely porch each morning and after our hikes in the DuPont Forest, etc.
We had a fantastic stay. We enjoyed the fresh air and the evenings on the back patio. The property was spotless and well stocked. Everything was perfect down to the vase of fresh wildflowers. Joe and Margaret are very available and accommodating. We can't wait to come back!
The owners made everything so easy for us. We had to arrive a few days late due to a family emergency and the owners were incredibly accommodating. They not only made sure everything was ready when we finally did arrive, but made special accommodations for us based on our situation. We plan to stay there again in the future and would certainly recommend this property based on our experience.
We had a really wonderful stay in Cleveland. The home was comfortable and very homey. We enjoyed the records, all the cool decor, and how the house was stocked with nice high quality things. All cotton linens, nice soaps, an actual fireplace, nice cookware.... the list goes on The location was beautiful and close to brevard. So many nice hikes close. We even got some use out of the old banjo! Would highly recommend.
This was our 10th year vacationing in the area. The older house was very clean and well stocked, especially the kitchen. My wife and I appreciated the mountain feel of the property. The neighborhood was quiet and offered a feeling of tranquility. The small town of Cedar Mountain was a few miles away and offered limited dining and supplies. Brevard was a winding 20 or so miles away with two Dollar Generals on the way. Dupont Recreational Forest is a quick 15+ or - minutes away. My wife and I would stay again if we chose to return to the area.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay here the week of Christmas. The setting was extremely peaceful. The songbirds were abundant and welcomed us each morning as we drank our coffee on the porch. We enjoyed the fireplace each evening after hiking at the near by Hooker Falls, High Falls, Triple Falls and Raven Cliff Falls - all less than 15 minutes away. Driving to Brevard was an easy 20-25 minutes for restaurants and shopping. Check in was simple, and we loved that the cabin was all on one level with an easy single step onto the porch. Inside was meticulously clean and the kitchen was well stocked. We hope to visit again during the warmer months.
We rented the cabin for my mother in law who wanted to see fall colors. The owners were kind and accommodating right from the start. Our plan was to celebrate Thanksgiving dinner during our stay and the home had everything we needed and more for a memorable dinner. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms included all of the necessities and more. There was plenty of room at the table for meals and Oh the View from the porch. We walked the hill each day for exercise and the neighbors were lovely. The home is just close enough to food and fuel and far enough to enjoy silence and the fresh smell of the outdoors. This is hands down my favorite place to stay and I look forward to our next visit.
Perfect location to pretty place and the land of waterfalls
Wow, we just left this cozy cabin and the location is perfect if you are visiting pretty place, brevard, or the DuPont forest. The cabin is just as pictured. The hosts provided so many extras that are unheard of in rentals, laundry soap, condiments, shampoo, cotton balls, hiking sticks…I could go on and on. The highlight was the peaceful screened in porch and daybed! There was a huge collection of records and a Bluetooth speaker system. The host was extremely accommodating and easy to reach by text. If you are lucky, you will get to see the white squirrel, wild turkey, and friendly bear that frequents the area. We only saw the bear on the drive up. We are looking forward to coming back next year! Thank you Mr Logan for sharing your sweet cabin! Helpful hint - we had a problem trying to book the dates we wanted on VRBO, we reached out to the owners who quickly resolved it so we could book. If you have the same issue try sending a message.
I was looking for a couple week retreat for myself, loved the place so much I ended up staying a month!
Joe and Margaret are the sweetest hosts, my mom was nervous about me (50+ yr old daughter! ) staying in the mountains alone. Joe gave me name's and number of friends in the area, so Mom felt better so did I.
Pulled in the driveway, looked around and instantly I felt relaxed. The porch was my tranquility, slept out there until it got to cold, then I just start a fire inside can't get any better than that.
If I had questions, like I couldn't find the blender, I never had to wait long for a response. And always with helpful idea's and local area information.
Amazingly stocked home, more spices and oils than I have, they thought of everything all your basic everyday items are already there for you.
I shed a tear when left.
Thank you so much, I just love this adorable mountain cabin.

More so than any other property we've stayed at, this felt like a real home, full of comforts and conveniences that make all the difference. Joe is a thoughtful host that truly wants his guests to feel welcomed and relaxed. During our stay, we felt like we had found a second home in the mountains.
Most evenings were spent preparing dinner in the fully outfitted kitchen or BBQing on the grill. Even in July, the enormous wrap-around screened-in porch was cool and comfortable, and we enjoyed most of our meals outside under festive string lights. We especially enjoyed picking out music from the impressive collection of LPs and lounging in the numerous comfortable chairs, inside and out.
The house is within minutes of Caesars Head State Park and the lovely Raven Cliff Falls—perfect for an early morning or evening hike. (Also check out Dargans Cascade—the trailhead is walkable from the house.) You are in easy striking distance of Dupont State Forest, Pisgah National Forest, Jones Gap State Park, Table Rock State Park, and countless other swimming holes and trails. It's really a hiker's and nature lover's paradise. Asheville, Brevard, Highlands, and more are all a short drive away. Break in your boots in Panthertown or in Pisgah and then hit the farmer's market in Cashiers or the smokehouse in Highlands!
There isn't cell service at the house but the wifi works great and a landline is available for phone calls. We didn't have any problems during our stay, but if we did, it was clear that Joe would be available to solve them for us. We had a lovely stay on the border of North and South Carolina and we would love to return!
So happy we found this listing! The Logans were easy and delightful to communicate with! Their home was a joy to my husband and I for our 4 day Thanksgiving holiday with my parents. Joe and Margaret are extremely generous and trusting souls! The house had everything you need and a ton of things you didn't even know you would need but were able to enjoy! We loved the vinyl records that included many of our favorite artists! The chiminea gave my husband and I the chance to really enjoy the outdoors and unwind. We look forward to a return trip in the spring!!
We had a wonderful long weekend in Cleveland! The house is in a quiet neighborhood on top of the mountain. It was well stocked with supplies and a short ride down the mountain to cute places to eat. It was also very close to several state parks which was a great way to see multiple parks in one day. If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful break from your life this is the perfect spot!
I have never been to this area, and as a avid hiker, heard great things about this area.
You will not find a cabin in this area with a better location !
The cabin it self was very clean, and lacking nothing.
The screened in porch was beyond relaxing after a day exploring.
Would 100% recommend this cabin, and would definitely stay there again.
The house was very clean and lovingly maintained with plants and flowers. The wrap around porch had multiple areas to gather for games, dinner and morning coffee with a view. The kitchen was very well stocked with spices, cooking pits and utensils, wine glasses, coffee mugs, hand towels, syrup, coffee, really everything you could need. Welcome home! The house was near several trails to waterfalls and near some breweries, convenient to Brevard or Hendersonville, yet backing to a wilderness area. The hosts were very helpful- thanks Joe and Margaret:)
We were 2 parents + an eleven year old for most of a week. We all enjoyed ourselves very much. We visited in July, and the temps in the yard and on the screened porch were 10-15 degrees cooler than in the towns “downhill.” It was such a treat! The bed and bath linens were super high quality. Bird feeders were a plus and we enjoyed watching several species of birds and squirrels. The wifi worked well, and we used the fire tv to watch some family movies. The kitchen was very well stocked with cookware, dishes, and seasonings. The host was easy to communicate with. We would love to visit again.
The place was great and the owner was more than hospitable.
We loved the place and plan on staying there again when we visit Brevard.

About the host
Hosted by Joe Logan
Our goal is to provide a mountain house with all the conveniences and benefits of a mountain home that is quiet, safe and relaxing for guests to feel at home during your stay.
Why they chose this property
The location of this mountain house is ideal for a "home base" for hikers, cyclists and nature lovers. The breeze coming out of the south across the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area provides fresh, mountain air. At an elevation over 3,000 feet, it is about 10 degrees cooler than the towns below. The sitting area on the porch provides a comfortable place to enjoy the beautiful view looking at state park lands. The kitchen is equipment with everything you need to prepare meals, including sugar, flour, spices and clean dishes, pots and pans. Things like paper towels, napkins and picnic items are provided.
What makes this property unique
Remote work and online learning can take place at this property. In March, 2025, ATT WiFi was upgraded to ATT Fiber.
