About this property

Secluded Lakefront Retreat on 7 acres on Lake Quinault

A very private home on Lake Quinault, the south entrance to the Olympic Peninsula National Park and just a few miles away from the famous Lake Quinault lodge and rainforest.

This home is perfect for a family retreat in the woods without sacrificing comforts of home. An open floor plan on the main floor with a complete guest suite and kids bunk room downstairs. Open loft master suite allows for lake views and a true cabin feel. Decks surround the house; enjoy the outdoors with a glass of wine overlooking the lake.

Amazing fishing right from the beach or go for a sunset paddle. Home has two double kayaks [available from May to September*] and is outfitted with all kinds of games for family fun (giant jenga, puzzles). Kitchen has everything you would need to cook your favorite family recipes or to grill up the trout you catch. Brand new kitchen appliances (fridge, stove/oven, dishwasher) just installed.

Just a mile into the small town of Amanda Park which sports a mercantile store (get all your groceries and your fishing license here), an internet cafe and a great little pizza joint/pool hall.

No better place to get away from it all and create amazing family memories.

There are two double kayaks and two kids sit on top kayaks available for guest use during the Spring and Summer*. There is also a good selection of life vests from kid size to adult (located in the storage bench in the breezeway).

* Due to rising level of the lake during the Fall and Winter months, it is not safe to kayak in Lake Quinault. Kayaks and paddleboard are available from May to September.

If you wish to bring your own water craft: Note that any boat, kayak or paddle board must be inspected before it can be used in the Lake Quinault. ***CURRENTLY ALL LAKE QUINAULT PERMIT/INSPECTION OFFICES ARE CLOSED***

Can’t wait to come back!

Wow, there couldn’t be a more beautiful setting for this place! We headed straight down to jump on the kayaks, enjoyed our evening on the deck, and the home was clean and comfortable. It was nice that “town” had a small general store and we went to a fancy dinner at the lodge, just a couple miles away, but it still felt secluded. We want to come back here soon and bring more family members!

Peaceful, Perfect Spot

Everything was extremely clean, comfortable, and easy to access. My dog spent most of her days in the lake and there were excellent dog towels for drying her off. The property is beautiful and quiet and central to a lot of places if you want to make your way around the peninsula. Highly recommend!

Trout House is the place to stay.

Trout House is a great property. Lots of room to spread out, and a nice kitchen area to gather to play cards, eat, drink, and laugh. The view of the lake is lovely and the house is well stocked with games, bedding, towels (including for the lake and fur friends), and kitchen supplies. This is the cleanest vacation rental we have ever stayed in. Thank you.

Beautiful quiet getaway

We loved our stay at this picturesque house! It's right on the water and the dogs loved playing and swimming everyday. Lots of room with everything you need. They had fun board games that we played each night! We got to see otters a few times too! The views and the peacefulness is what made this vacation so great! We loved it and can't wait to go back!

Lakeside love

This experience was so great and I always find flaws. The location truly could not be beat and the house was spotless. Very well stocked kitchen and lovely dining room. Plenty of seating indoors and out and spectacular views. I can’t wait to come back. I’d forgotten how beautiful that area is!

Peaceful and gorgeous

Beautiful location, impeccably clean. Every item inside the house was clearly chosen with care. We loved cooking in the spacious kitchen and there were plenty of games and puzzles to keep the kids and adults happy. The kayaks and SUP made our time on the water extra special. We took early morning swims and watched otters play in the evening. What a special home, thank you for sharing it with us. We will return!

Every Detail Perfect

If you want to experience Olympic National Park, this is the place to stay. The home was perfect in every way down to the last detail. The views are breathtaking being right on the lake surrounded by mountains. Just minutes drive to amazing restaurants and hikes. The host is over the top nice and accommodating with a detailed guidebook suggesting things to do in the area. The host was generous and amazing with communication for our requests. I can’t think of a more perfect family vacation. I look forward to coming back again soon.

Beautiful property with great amenities

First we felt like we had the lake to ourselves, only seeing another boater pass by twice during our 3 night stay. Secluded yet very close to a convenience store and absolutely gorgeous. When we arrived there was a mother deer and her fawn in the driveway, and when we returned from a hike we saw an owl in the driveway. The kayaks and stand up paddle boards were great fun and we took advantage of the many board games in the evening. We appreciated the thoughtful back up tank of propane for the new Weber Genesis grill, and having every kitchen tool available including very sharp knives. Great place, definitely hope to return.

Serene

Such a beautiful location. House was perfect; had everything we needed. The 3 teenagers stayed downstairs in the basement and my husband and I stayed upstairs. We used the kayaks, paddleboard, firepit, fireplace and even the jacuzzi tub after a super long hike. Mornings with coffee on the porch, blankets and listening to the birds. We did a big grocery shop in Aberdeen and then picked up things as we needed them at the NorthShore grocery because the Mercantile was closed. Ate at the pizza place and the Lake Quinault lodge, but mostly cooked at the house. Tons of great nearby hikes in the forest and on the beach. The only thing to be aware of is the loft upstairs is not private at all - very open to the downstairs.

Magical- amazing

We've stayed at a few places through VRBO- and with various degrees of truthfulness in the description. This was everything and more. Secluded? Yes. Great outdoor area? Yes. Stocked kitchen? Yes. Views? Yes. And, after spending nearly a week in the area- my recommendation would be to stay around Lake Quinault the whole trip. Tons of hikes we didn't even get to- if you'd like to run into a handful of people on a trail MAX- go here. If you'd like to see over 200+ an hour, hit the big sites! And Ranger Matt at the Ranger station was super helpful in tailoring our preferences- solitude- in all his recommendations. For real- not much by way of groceries after Aberdeen or Forks, but grab it on the way in, and you'll be able to enjoy it all at the house. Really great trip! Thank you!

Serenity

When one descends the driveway to the lakehouse you are entering serenity. The property does not have neighbors in each direction for a few 100 yards at least, the underbrush of the surrounding forest is so thick it seems like a natural fence and one can sample the typical vegetation, ferns, salmonberries. The birdsong from the surrounding forest is amazing. There is noone on the lake for 99% of the time. We only once saw a small fishing boat quietly trolling and once a pair of Hobie 16. Complete privacy. The house is great, everything what is needed is provided, quality is great, and folks take seemingly care of it and continuously making improvements (e.g the minisplit inverter AC is really nice in summer and probably in winter - we have the same at our real home). Decoration is not overwhelming but well thought out and inspirational. Loved the kayaks to go out on the lake. Our dog could run free and swim.

We enjoyed a wonderfully peaceful few days at Quinault Lake. The weather was lovely, so we could take advantage of the comfortable seating on the decks that surround the house. Cooking was a pleasure in the well appointed kitchen, with all the spices and appliances we needed. Whether kayaking on the lake, hiking the rainforest trails, cooking up s’mores on the lakeside campfire, or just enjoying the lake view, we enjoyed our time here, and hope to return.

The location was perfect, close to everything we wanted to do during our trip. The house is spacious with an amazing view of the lake, and we really enjoyed having a fully equipped kitchen. The only thing that would have made it even better would be a TV in the living room, so that we could relax together after our long days of adventure, since it was raining most of the time during our stay.

We are a family of 5 that loves to travel and has stayed at over 50 vrbo properties all over the world. So when we bought a lake house in the Olympic Peninsula rainforest we knew we had to share it with other families.

Why they chose this property

We love lakes! And Lake Quinault is beyond beautiful and peaceful. The house is on 7 acres and you may stay for a week and not see another soul on this part of the lake. Easy access to the Washington coast and great rainforest hikes.
