About this property

Rainforest Retreat - Welcome to Lake Quinault

Enjoy this ranch-style cedar rambler in Lake Quinault in the heart of the Quinault Rain Forest - Home to the Roosevelt Elk. The home sits on 5.2 acres on the South Shore Road of Lake Quinault (2.5 miles up the Quinault Valley from the Lake Quinault Lodge).

The mountain views are spectacular and the home is perfect for those that love the outdoors as the Quinault River, known for its world class fishery, flows directly behind the property. Our property boasts several resident elk herds, abundant wildlife and is a steelhead fisherman's dream. With four bedrooms and two bathrooms, the home is ready for a family or the next getaway retreat for those wanting out of the city lights to a place where the stars shine and the elk bugle.

The home is recently remodeled with a wood stove insert, hardwood floors and an incredible kitchen with double oven, gas range, stainless steel appliances and floor-to-ceiling custom cabinetry. The kitchen was designed for home-canning with deep sinks, long counters and a 6-top gas range.

The house includes two family rooms, a large laundry room and mudroom, and large cedar deck with built in propane and Stainless BBQ Enjoy the large backyard, which is perfect for wiffle ball and complete with a fire pit for those evenings of star watching, strumming the guitar, telling stories, roasting marshmallows, and eating smores!

The River's Edge also boasts a large back yard for tent camping. We have the perfect spot for a family reunion, weddings or large gatherings. *Inquire for special pricing for large parties and weddings.

The River's Edge is not on the river. We chose this house name because of the history of our home (It's quite a story, one that can be found in the welcome book upon arrival). The house is 2.5 miles from the lake and a short walk away to access to the river. E-mail us and we will let you know how to access the river bar for miles of exploring!

Unplug! Our internet is not fast or reliable. We have the best service as provided by CenturyLink, but sadly telecommunications has not reached our rural area yet and Internet service is average and below average for speed. We also experience frequent outages. The River's Edge is in the RAINFOREST at the edge of the Colonel Bob Wilderness area. There is fast and free DSL service at the Amanda Park Library 10 minutes up HWY 101.

About the host

Hosted by Kellie Daniels

Host profile image
The Daniels Family - Corey and Kellie Daniels and our four sons, Cameron (not shown in this picture away at college) Cole, Carson and Casey.

In 2002, Corey and I (both avid outdoor enthusiasts) sold our Sammamish home, quit our jobs and moved to Lake Quinault to escape the 'rat race' and live in God's country where we wanted to raise our boys. Yes, our Seattle friends thought we were crazy (actually they thought we had lost our minds!) until they came to visit and didn't want to leave!

Corey and the boys and I have spent the last several years living the dream until recently when Corey's job forced a move. Determined to keep our little piece of heaven so that we could return as often as possible, we decided that our best option was to share our home with others wanting the same thing we did - to escape the city lights to a place where the stars shine and the elk bugle. It was an easy decision and we only hope you and yours will enjoy it as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

The River's Edge home is Lake Quinault's #1 Get-Away Retreat.

Our property is home to several resident elk herds in the Quinault Valley. The elk are probably our favorite feature and we never get tired of seeing them. Herds as large as 50 roam the Quinault Valley throughout the year. There is nothing better than sitting on our deck with a cup of coffee watching the young elk calves play in our field on a warm summer morning.

Our property is the largest rental property in the Lake Quinault area and we're pleased to be able to share it. Four bedrooms, two baths, two family rooms, a state of the art kitchen, large laundry room, office and the cozy rock fireplace with wood stove insert make this a year-around retreat.

Each season brings a new experience and we are happy to share.

*World Class Steelhead Sport Fishery out our back door!

*Bald Eagle Viewing like you have ever seen before.

*Resident Roosevelt Elk herds and Wildlife Photography are a daily adventure.

*Hiking and Nature Trails into the Olympic National Park, Colonel Bob Wilderness and USFS are within walking distance from our home.

*Lake Quinault is home to the Southern Entrance of the Olympic National Park and our property is on the famous 31 mile Quinault loop drive where you will enjoy the Quinault Rain Forest and all its wonders.

*Our home is only 2.5 miles from the Historic Lake Quinault Lodge and 1.5 miles from the World's Largest Spruce Tree located at the Rain Forest Resort and Salmon House Restaurant.

*Writer's Retreat. Our home serves as the ultimate writer's retreat. Book an extended stay and enjoy the tranquil setting as you dig deep and write your next novel. Our home is equipped with WI-FI. Yes, our home is the perfect get-away for anyone with a dream and story to tell.

Our home is far from the city lights, interstate, traffic jams and 3 hour commute. Join us where the air is clean, stars shine and elk bugle!

What makes this property unique

Lake Quinault's #1 Get-Away Retreat!

Enjoy steelhead fishing on the Upper Quinault right out our back door from December to March. The Upper Quinault River is known for its World Class sport fishery. Our favorite guides live in the area and we would be honored to set you up with a great trip. Weekly fishing trips are also available and our home serves as a great 'home base' if you seek to fish the other popular Olympic Peninsula Rivers including the Hoh, Clearwater, Sol Duc or Lower Quinault River. Fly fishing is becoming ever so popular and our property is just a short 5 minute walk to the rivers edge.

Lake Quinault is home to the Roosevelt Elk. You can view the resident elk herds year-around. April and May kick off the spring season when the grass grows and the elk emerge in the many fields on the South Shore Road including our property where the elk slumber just off the rivers edge. Grab your camera and join us for an incredible opportunity to hike, explore and view the Quinault Rain Forest and abundant wildlife in our area.

May kicks off our peak season. Four bedroom, 2 bath, two family rooms, large laundry room and mud room, office and large cedar deck with built in propane and Stainless BBQ make this Lake Quinault's #1 Get-Away retreat.

The Quinault Rain Forest is home to the Southern entrance of the Olympic National Park. Hike and explore our Temperate Rain Forest and all its wonders. Day hikes, river walks, and picnics at the river's edge are all a must do while staying at our beautiful home.
