The condo was very nice and super clean. It was recently renovated and had everything we needed for our family. The ski slopes were also easy to access and the condo had a free shuttle into town for convenience.
The views from the condo were great. There was a field of flowers within steps on the parking lot. It was a great location to go to downtown, gothic and the resort
My husband and one and a half year old had a great time staying at this condo! Everything was clean and the condo was well supplied for cooking. Would definitely stay here again!
We were so pleased with our stay in this condo. The owner was easy to communicate with and we felt that the dog friendly policy was extra nice. We would love to stay here again, the decor was nice, all rooms filled with light along with a beautiful view!!

Thank you! We really enjoyed hosting you and hope to welcome you soon again!
Great condo on the 2nd floor of the building. Firewood for the fireplace is nearby. There is a groomed easier way to get close to the building, but it's hard to tell where its supposed to end. Parking can be a bit difficult if there has been a lot of snow as it piles up behind the back of the lot, so there isn't a lot of room to back out. Will try to stay in this same condo on our next trip.
We brought our daughter & son in law, and two grandchildren for a long weekend. Taught the Grands to ski. Lovely condo. It was clean, and well appointed.
The hot tub was nice, yet the sauna room it is housed in is NOT well ventilated. So damp, the wood flooring is very slippery.
This is not a ski in ski out for anyone other than an expert skier.
Some loud partying neighbors. Well past quiet hours.
The owners are highly responsive and have done a great job of remodeling this super cool classic Crested Butte condo.
We visit CB 2-3 times per year. This is our first time staying at this property. This is definitely a hidden gem. This was the perfect base camp for our adventure. We rarely spend time indoors, but it sure was nice to enjoy a cozy evening by the playing cards and sharing laughs. This is an older complex, so you can definitely hear people in the corridor etc., but everyone seems to respect the quiet hours. We are early to bed, early to rise people and had no problems getting some much needed rest between adventures.
The staff is very friendly and the check in-out process was efficient.
The private shuttle is a great perk.
This location exceeded our expectations. The condo was perfectly located atop the hill with a very easy ski down to both the main office and the west wall lift! The condo has direct views to the town of crested butte and the valley from the living room and the master room! When it comes to the views, the pictures in the listing don't really do it justice. The most annoying part of travelling is unpacking and packing up, which was made very easy by the proximity of the parking lot and the condo. Checking in and out was also a surprisingly pleasant experience as we could ski down to both the main office and the lift. The office staff was very friendly and accommodating, there is a complimentary shuttle with your stay to the town of Crested Butte and back. Not only did we really enjoy the skiing, but the shuttle made it very easy and convenient to explore the town.
We loved the ski in ski out location, however be forewarned the ski in slope is at least a blue run. Once soupy fog cleared, was much easier to navigate.
Owner was staying beside us and was very accommodating. Unit was much more spacious than pictures depict. Bunk room is doable for 5-6 people sleeping, but not much storage. Could benefit from a bit more lighting as window was blocked with snow. Master is roomy with queen bed, large closet, writing desk and large window opening to deck, Living room, dining area, and kitchen are open and inviting for 6-7 guests…with real fireplace and Roku TV. Very spacious and comfortable.
Kitchen very well appointed with more than ample cookware. Only downside for larger groups is single bathroom…however bath is very spacious for 2partners to share. Our group of 4 fared very well with a courteous take-a-number bathroom policy!!
One unexpected amenity is San Moritz shuttle to town or Mountain Village. Especially welcomed during extensive White outs and covered roads.
Ski out required about 4 poling strokes to ski out….ski in straight to condo door…just bear in mind this is not a beginner slope, especially in white out….but VERY CONVENIENT once navigation is acclimated.
We hope to return to Crested Butte and definitely to Frederik’s Unit. Would love to return with skiing grandchildren as location would be exquisite if all are decent skiers. Westwall lift is easy get-to and launches one to rest of mountain.
Enjoyed some early season skiing at this excellent condo. The location is outstanding, combines ski-in ski-out with privacy and serenity on the mountain. Condo was very well equipped for cooking. Nicely furnished, neat & clean, new floors that really look and feel clean (I'm not a carpet fan). Beds were surprisingly comfortable, and I'm very picky. Also, loved the stylish bathroom and the heated floor. (My feet freeze easily when skiing!)
The property was great. In the summer, the base of mount crested butte is a lot quieter than the winter, and it was great to have close access to the hikes near the property. The updated showers and restrooms were great, and the beds where super comfortable. I was in town for a wedding, and had my wife, one year old and two and a half year old, and we had plenty of space to have a crib and pack in play in the additional rooms and able to sleep comfortably ourselves. It was unusually warm while we were there, so we realized the unit didn't have an AC, so we offset it by just opening the windows at night and kept them closed during the day. Only negative is that the stairs going down to the unit isn't the most kid friendly, but we navigated it just fine.
Condo was just as advertised! Highlights for our group were the location (right off the ski hill), the hot tub and sauna, the FREE shuttle service, the fully stocked tableware with a dishwasher, and the super comfortable beds. Easy fit for 10 people in the space. Condo was also very clean and with accommodating staff. Our group would recommend!

Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
Not as Expected…
I’ll preface this review that fortunately we still had a great family trip to Crested Butte, the place is absolutely magical and beautiful. The location of this condo is good especially during ski season (I’d imagine).
First impression: Exterior of building newly updated and then you walk into the shared space of the condo and it’s dark, dirty and from the 70s. Walk into the condo and it’s fine..but definitely not accurately captured in the VRBO pictures. I thought I was renting a 3-3.5 star condo, and this was a 2….at best.
The bottom line: This condo is best described as a college dorm/dog toilet/crash pad. Within minutes, the noxious smell was overwhelming; we opened every window and door possible to air it out. It absolutely was cleaned, as it wreaked of bleach too…and it definitely has been pet friendly a bit too long because it smelled like many, many dogs have marked it as theirs. I get it, we have 2 dogs…this was REALLY REALLY bad. The couches and carpet were beyond disgusting—you can see where other dogs have stained it (it isn’t burns from the fireplace). We used the sheets, as suggested, to cover the couch AND the carpet. The first night we lasted about 3 hours in the Master before my husband had a full-on asthma attack!! The Master was by far THE MOST disgusting space. We ended up closing the door and not using that bedroom the entire stay.
The first morning, my entire family (including a 2 yo) were wheezy, stuffed up and had headaches. We were about to leave to go back home but couldn’t justify it. Although seeing your precious 2 yo, struggling because of the dirty place you put her, is very tough as a parent. So we stayed anywhere BUT inside the condo, loaded up on antihistamines (adults only) and ended up sleeping in the guest rooms. Yes..we paid top dollar and had to share bunk beds with the entire family.
If the carpet was removed and new couches this would not be a health danger. Now, during times of COVID (although vaccinated), we will all need COVID tests before we can go back to work and daycare. Cherry on top.
What an absolute bummer and a HUGE waste of money. We thought we splurged but really got ripped off. Beware…
**Also to note, this is the first time I have ever felt compelled to leave a review that is negative.

Dear Angie,
we are sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations. We recommend all VRBO guests, regardless where they are staying, to promptly contact owner or management company if there are concerns during their stay. Hosts and guests are (usually) reasonable people who seek a mutually good experience. (In this case, arrangements could have been made for you in a neighboring unit.)
Your description is quite an outlier when compared to the many historical reviews. We leave it to future guests to assess your credence and motivation, considering that you did not reach out to owners or maintenance during your stay.
To comment on a few specific points:
- Shared interior spaces. The atrium is vintage Crested Butte (1974) and scheduled for renovations in 2022. While we look forward to the update, we find that the stairwell serves its purpose.
- Pricing. We price in line with the market based on location, capacity and standard. In your case, a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom, 7-bed condo may be a little “much” for a couple with an infant, if you are looking for best value.
- Carpet/stains/smells. As owners we spend 40+ nights per year in the condo. We would not do so if there were any sanitary issues. And again, other reviewers would have noted the same.
Finally, some general reflections:
- The pandemic has taken its toll on people in all sorts of ways: mentally, financially, physically (e.g. smell/taste issues) etc. We respect that people can find themselves in various modes of hardship. We also believe that open and transparent communication, and the generally good intentions of people, can help us all make the best out of any situation.
- We love spending time in our condo, and we also love sharing the experience with guests. Over the past two years we have rented to 60+ parties through multiple channels. With very few exceptions it has been a pure delight to communicate with guests before, during and after their stay. We look forward to continuing this!
Wonderful place to stay for a ski in ski out getaway
Very comfortable and clean condo. Has everything you could need to cook a delicious meal and convenient to literally ski right into. Hot tubs are in the building and wonderful to relax in after a long day of skiing. The condo even has a shuttle service to bring you into town. You will love staying here..
The location is great, however, be aware the ski-in ski-out is on a blue/black run. For most of the party this was not an issue, for beginners they ended up hiking up to the condo from the base! Kitchen has the most utensils, pots, pans etc of any condo we have stayed at! Dog friendly location was great. Our dog met many other dogs to play with daily to burn off that energy before and after the kennel while we skied. Only negative was the neighbors put out 8 bags of trash in the hall when they checked out and we had to trip over it for 24 hrs until it was finally collected.

Patrick, thank you for your review! We’re impressed the beginners in your group hiked up the hill. For future reference, consider the free shuttle service, only a phone call away.
This was my first ski-in/ski-out experience, and I loved it. Can't say enough about the convenience. We even had lunch at the condo!
The place is everything it's advertised to be. The cherry on top was how accommodating the property managers were. I had called early to request an early check-in. Responsibly, I was told that an early check-in couldn't be guaranteed. When I explained that not only were we traveling with someone sporting a broken foot, a dog and were expecting to arrive early, we were given the option to hang-out in the property office until the condo was going to be ready. What service!
For groups that like to cook: the kitchen is also well-stocked with equipment. We had a birthday celebration during our trip, and there was even a mixer and cake pans to bake a cake!
Great condo super close to the westwall ski lift. Fit our large group super easily.

About the host
Hosted by Fredrik Westin
Born and raised in Sweden, Asa and Fredrik met in California, settled in Texas and now always look forward to returning to spend time in Crested Butte.
Why they chose this property
First, after first visiting Crested Butte in the summer of 2016, we were just captivated by the raw natural beauty. No better place to escape the Texas heat! Second, skiing is a favorite family pastime and Crested Butte offers so much varied terrain for all skiers. The convenient ski-in/ski-out location offers everyone flexibility when to come and go, and also lets us have a tasty lunch without spending a fortune!
What makes this property unique
The view from this condo has to be seen to be believed. We still gasp in awe just driving up Hunter Hill road to get to the building. In all of Mt Crested Butte there are only a dozen condos that offer westward views from this top-shelf location. The $MM mountain mansions were built next door, in no small part due to the vistas.
Best location in all of Mt Crested Butte Ski-in/ski-out access to the Westwall lift takes your ski experience to the next level. - Take on the mountain fully rested - sleep in, and step right into the slopes, effortlessly - Swing by home for a solid lunch & beverage stop - a massive daily savings! - Split the troops: tired folks can go home for hot tubs while others ski until the lifts close - Invite your new acquaintances over for an impromptu after-ski on the patio
