The owners have done a great job of creating a homy, comfortable space that is very well equipped and stocked. We spent two weeks there while visiting relatives and couldn't have been happier. We will definitely try to stay again next time we plan a trip to Sarasota.

Thank you Reba, we are so happy that you and your husband enjoyed your stay! Stay again any time.
The property was very clean and in perfect condition. The Gulf Gate location was very convenient for us. We had a few questions and Rachel was very responsive.

Thank you Deborah, we do our best to always have the place in tip top condition and clean, so we appreciate that you took the time to review. We hope you will stay with us again soon!
A nice quiet neighborhood, and a very comfortable king size bed. Easy biking in the development, a large library a block away. Centrally located in the Sarasota area. It could use a BBQ grill and more comfortable chairs in the lanai.

Richard, thank you for the wonderful comments and throughout our communication I felt you were enjoying your stay, so I am not certain why you only submitted a one star, hopefully it was by accident.

We take pride in keeping this home well maintained, with fresh new linens, and all the ammenities a person could possibly need. We also, take pride in keeping this unit extremely clean. With that being said, this villa may not have allof the latest new tile or countertops, but everything we have is clean and well maintained. From what I could gather, this couple was used to staying at a more modern place on the beach, where they were displaced at the last minute by the owner, they were quite without complaints but dirty according to housecleaning. I went out of my way to answer their texts quickly when they needed suggestions for dinner or other. It would be great if people could focus on the positives, like when we let them check in several hours earlier, but I understand, if you are used to staying a new remodeled place then it may not be easy to find charm or appreciate a cozy and clean villa.
Rachel, our host, was great! She answered all our questions before we arrived and was helpful while we were there. She let us know that the house had lost only one screen on the lanai from Hurricane Milton. This wasn't a big problem since it was too warm to sit outside anyway.
The house has everything needed to cook full meals. Supplies for laundry and dishwashing are plentiful, and the beds are comfortable. Everything is very clean.
If you can walk a little over a mile, it's within walking distance of the Publix grocery store and many restaurants of many types - Italian, German, an Irish pub, breakfast/lunch cafes, a bagel place, and an organic coffee house (Clever Cup). It's a few minutes' drive to Siesta Key, which is quite convenient.
We really enjoyed our stay!

Thank you so much Rena, we try so hard to keep the place well maintained and keeping it clean is a high priority! I was so happy that you enjoyed the neighborhood as well as we do, it truly is a little gem. Everytime I come to Gulf Gate, I fall in love with a new restaurant!
This place was very clean and well-maintained albeit a bit dated. Also we didn’t know it was one side of a duplex rather than a standalone home. We really appreciated that the kitchen was stocked with supplies so that we could cook in as needed! The one main qualm we had was that it was advertised as “location location location” but felt pretty removed from the Siesta Key beach area/restaurants and from downtown Sarasota. (We should have done more research but were unfamiliar with the area.) Granted—we were there on a holiday weekend, but it was a 20 minute drive to the beach on some days. The house is located in a more remote part of town where you’re closer to Costco/strip malls/car dealerships than the beach/cute restaurants and shops. Overall we made it work and truly had a wonderful time!!

Most people comment to me of how amazing the location is and I agree. If it is not a major holiday, then it takes me 5-10 minutes depending on traffic to get over to the beach. We are not close to downtown or St. Armands Circle, that is about a 20 minute drive, depending on holiday traffic.
Great location. Close to shopping and beaches. Especially enjoyed south Lido Key Beach Park on St. Armands Key. The Shore is one of our favorite restaurants there. Third visit to Sarasota/Siesta Key area. So much to do in the area. Rachel was a great hostess. Fixed our meals for most of the month. Found everything we needed in the kitchen and elsewhere.
What an awesome place we had everything we need. Great place to stay location wise very close to everything.

Thank you Deborah, we are happy that you had everything you needed and that the location was convenient for you. We hope you will stay with us again soon!
I found the property clean, however it needs updating. All bedding sheet needed upgraded to a higher standard. Would have liked an electric kettle as I enjoy tea.

We have a Kuerig, a coffee pot, ninja blender, regular blender, food processors, coffee grinders and so much more. There is no electric tea pot, but there is a 1 cup metal teapot. I guess as hard as you try you just cannot meet everyone's needs.
This is the best equipped vrbo we have rented. We like to eat meals in, as well as at restaurants. In addition - the location was perfect for us. We are building a new home in Palmer Ranch, and needed to buy furniture and other items. This house was in a perfect location with easy access to all the furniture stores. And an easy drive to Siesta Key and St. Armand's, too!

Thank you so much, we are so happy to hear that the location and amenities made your stay easy and comfortable. You will love living in Palmer Ranch!
Great home, wonderful amenities, well appointed! Great residential neighborhood, good walking close to library, beach, shops.
Bathroom at end of hall, problem with shower in the end of hall bathroom, hot water problems, TV bit complications, maybe a written detailed description for use. We only got NBC. Did not receive any previous maps, etc from VRBO. The back porch a plus, great area for meals, sip coffee in morning.

Response from VrboOwner on 24 March 2020
Thank you Sally! There are 83 channels available so I wish I had known that you were only able to get NBC. I will have a look at the hot water heater per your comment, it may need to be turned up. We appreciate you staying with us and hope that you enjoyed visiting Ringling College and your grandson!
The house is as pictured in the VRBO listing. It was clean, comfortable and in a nice quiet neighborhood. The king bed was awesome. It is a great location to relative to Siesta Key, St. Armands Circle, Sarasota airport & Venice beach. There is a terrific bagel shop within walking distance. There is a great French bakery and fish monger within a mile of the house as well as 3 Publix grocery stores all within about a mile. We had easy access to I-75 for our trips to St. Petersburg and Naples. Everything in the house worked fine and the furniture was comfortable. I would definitely rent from Rachel again. We had no negative issues during our 2 week stay.
The villa is clean and comfortable, in a nice quiet neighborhood within easy commute to any Sarasota and beach location you want to visit.

About the host
Hosted by Rachel
In 2002, I left Greenville, South Carolina and moved to St. Petersburg, Florida where I had been visiting a friend for several years. In 2005, I took a great job in Venice, FL and found this precious villa in Sarasota. I worked in commercial real estate for several years, then started a construction company during the 2008 recession. Over the Christmas holiday in 2007, I took a trolley to see Christmas lights with friends, and later that evening I met my, soon to be, Yankee husband, at the Gator Club in Downtown Sarasota. In 2010, we were married in Mary's Chapel at Historic Spanish Point Plantation. During 2012, my Yankee husband Joe and I moved to Travelers Rest, South Carolina where we now live on 20 acres raising dogs, cats, chickens, and goats. We love our Sarasota home and friends, and we hope you will enjoy the town, the sights, the people, and Gulf Gate as much as we do!
Why they chose this property
The location of this property is amazing for anyone who loves convenience, because if it's not within a 1-3 mile radius, then you probably don't need it! If you want to get to other locations in Florida, the close proximity to I-75 makes for easy travels. This property has been well maintained and loved through the years, it depicts Old Florida Style at its best! The neighbors are friendly and it is a hop-jump-skip away from the new Gulf Gate Library. Depending on your lifestyle, this is a walk/bike/live community.
What makes this property unique
Location, location, location. Only a 10-minute drive to Siesta Key Beach, which is continuously rated #1 Beach in the United States, and close to all the amazing shops in Gulf Gate Village and Sarasota Pavilion. Gulf Gate is like the new "it" area with new retail shops, bakeries, and a mixture of international food flare that is note even seen in small cities.
