About this property
Newly renovated village home with views over the vines of Pommard
The Pommard House holds a special place in the village as it was the residence of local respected winemaker Jean Michelot, whose family has lived in Pommard since the 1600’s.
The house itself dates back at least 200 years earlier than that and is finished with slab stone floors, ancient beams and carved, solid oak staircase.
It is located on the edge of the village with views over famous vineyards; Pommards finest – ‘Rugiens’, and ‘Clos de la Commaraine’, made famous by Thomas Jefferson, who particularly favored the 1785 vintage.
The keynote for The Pommard House is modern and stylish finish and convenience, combined with rustic charm that will transport you back many centuries into the times of the Dukes of Burgundy.
Pommard is located in the middle of the ‘Route des Grand Crus’, the famous wine trail that threads through all of the principal villages of the Cote d’Or, and is easy walking or cycling distance to the medieval towns of Beaune, Volnay, Meursault and the other principle wine villages.
The village offers the daily essentials of Boulangerie for bread, croissants and delicious patisserie; Boucher/Traitieur for superb meats, charcuterie and cheeses; and there are also a number of wine outlets and bars.
A new addition to the village is an artisanal Chocolatier whose delicacies are sublime for chocolate lovers.
Living …
The middle level is a modern, open space combining living, dining and kitchen, and features rare original floor tiles, a beautiful spiral staircase and the charm of stone walls and exposed beams. Freshly renovated, the spacious kitchen has stone working surfaces and is well appointed for the keen cook.
Sleeping…
The spacious bedrooms have an area of about 50m2 each.
The ground floor bedroom with its own separate entrance from the street, was originally the winemakers sales and tasting room. This room offers either twin beds or king size bed. The stone walls, oak beams and stone slab floor are all original. The bathroom/laundry is newly completed.
Ascend to the top floor via the old oak spiral staircase to the masterbedroom. This has original roofing timbers, dormer windows, a rooftop terrace with great views and an ensuite with shower and separate bath. This room features a king size bed.
