We are located in the Aspen Ridge community in Island Park. It is a quiet neighborhood lined with aspen trees and wildflowers. We adore our neighbors who are long-time local residences, so please be mindful and be good neighbors. The cabin sits within a small community and when it snows heavily the plow can take hours to get there. we plow regularly as well as the community, however the are few resources in Island Park on the plow takes time to arrive.
Guests will have the entire cabin to themselves with access to the entire front and back yards and the laundry room with a washer and dryer located behind the cabin.
Cabin is fully equipped with top-of/the-line kitchen appliances, bedding, and toiletries to make you feel at home.
The cabin has custom touches throughout - from saw-milled hickory floors to custom cabinets, beautiful copper farmhouse sink in the kitchen and a deep copper bathtub to soak in after a long day of adventures.
See if your children can identify the animal footprints on the walls in the kitchen and bathroom.
In addition to sleeping 8, we also provide a pack’n’play for your infant/toddler to sleep in.
Cabin is also equipped with a Smart TV w/ Sling subscription. Guests can also sign-in to use their own streaming apps and subscriptions.
While there is no AC, we have provided tower fans.
Bring your ATVs/UTVs/snowmobiled and enjoy the popular trails in the area.
We've got what you need for a morning cup of coffee on the front porch + a s'mores kit after a day of adventure. We hope you love the cabin as much as we do!
Guests will need a vehicle to get to/from the cabin. If you are booking in the winter, a 4 wheel drive vehicle is required. This area receives a lot of unexpected snow. The community roads and the driveway will be plowed, but a 4 wheel drive vehicle is still recommended. Unfortunately Tesla AWD and most electric vehicles are not adequate for winter months. The vehicles are too low to the ground and weigh too heavy for the roads in the winter.
Attention: Please be mindful, Yellowstone National Park does closes in the winter (November through March) to wheeled vehicles. The only entrance open to vehicles during these times is the North entrance. Please check these dates before booking. If you have any questions, we would be happy to answer them!
in the winter, snowmobiles and tours are still available inside the park. There is wildlife in the area and it can snow at all times of year. In the winter, 4 wheel drive vehicles are required. An AWD Tesla and similar vehicles are not suitable for the roads in Island Park due to their low clearance and weight, so please consider trucks, suvs and Subaru type vehicles. Please pay close attention to the weather as large snow storms do occur often in the winter. We have the driveway plowed consistently, every six inches, but resources are limited and after a storm it could take the plow a few hours to get to our residence.

Great location for Yellowstone while being away from the crowds of West Yellowstone. Very clean with lots of towels & great communication from hosts. Cabin had the charm of the country with modern upgrades. Recommend!

We had a wonderful stay at the cabin. It was perfect for our family, the kids loved the loft. The gated area was great for our dog. The hosts communication was superb, exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Location was just right. Will definitely stay again.
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Buffalo Pines! It is such a beautiful cabin with all the touches of home. Our dogs enjoyed the large fenced yard. Lots of room to sniff, run and play.
America & Dan were wonderful to work with.
Would definitely stay there again.
Great Home in a Great Location for Exploring Island Park and West Yellowstone!
Home was as described and perfect for our family. We prepared at least two meals and explored the wilderness every day. Nicely secluded but yet close to attractions. We ventured up to 100 miles per day by sxs's and atv's right from the home. We will recommend to our friends!
This is an excellent cabin. It was far enough outside west yellowstone to not deal with all the crowds, yet close enough that it was not a burden getting to the west entrance of YNP. The cabin was clean and cozy. We actually looked forward to going "home" after a long day of sightseeing. Much more relaxing than a hotel. America and Dan were excellent hosts and checked in periodically to ensure everything was going well.
I will definitely stay at Buffalo Pines again next time in the area. It is on the outskirts of Island Park proper which meant a quiet and peaceful experience. We went out exploring each day and it was always a treat to head "home" after a long day. The cabin is well equipped and the decor was truly delightful. Hosts Dan and America were quick to respond to questions. It was a slice of paradise! Thank you Dan and America for sharing this special place with folks like me.
The location and amenities were great but the issues we had were a few lights being out and no replacement bulbs. There was very little in the way of cleaning equipment I.e washcloths and scrubbing pads for doing dishes.. the beds were not very comfortable. The best night sleep I had was using the mattress from the hide-a-bed and sleeping on the floor.
First time is Island Park and America was a great host. They had gotten a ton of snow just prior to our arrival and she made sure the house was plowed out and ready for us to check in. The home is beautiful and so comfortable and wonderfully decorated as well.
This is a cute cabin with plenty of room for our family of four. The main reason for our stay was to visit Yellowstone National Park and the drive was very easier -- about 20 minutes from the town of West Yellowstone which also was convenient for picking up supplies. (Gas was also much cheaper there than in Idaho.)
Kitchen, living areas and bedrooms were all very nice and comfortable, and having access to laundry is always nice. Quiet and relaxing, with a nice backyard and front porch.
The only downside is that during the day if the weather is warm, the house will be very warm when you return. Get those windows open as quickly as you can and it will cool off eventually, but if you get back late and hope to fall right asleep, it might be a bit warm.
All that said, America was a GREAT host. She went over and above what could have been asked of her when we had a health concern during our trip and needed to figure out where we might be able to get care. She really was fantastic, and I can't possibly say thank yo]u to her enough.
I hope you enjoy your stay. This is a really nice property.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay here, there were some things that weren’t perfect but nothing by to where we wouldn’t come back! There was a guy who plowed the roads fairly often and even plowed the drive way which was an awesome added surprise!
The dishes had a bit of a film on them and in the time of Covid, we had planned on washing them anyway. The inside of the dishwasher was dirty and the shower left something to be desired in the realm of cleanliness as well.
However, often times when traveling with a dog it’s hard to find a nice dog friendly cabin and this one was super dog friendly and had a ton of space for us to walk him around the neighborhood.
Only recommendations would be to have more hooks available to hang up snowy clothing and to have a printed welcome packet and / or guest book with the resources they email out prior to arrival.
America and Dan were awesome hosts, super communicative and seem to be very genuine people!
We loved everything about our stay. Such a charming cabin with so many little details from decor, to amenities, and location that made it a wonderful experience! Thank you so much! Looking forward to staying again!!!
Hi! We are America and Dan and we love the West and the outdoors. We have a son, a daughter on the way, and the sweetest dog Prairie. We used to live in Montana and left our hearts in the west. We now live just outside DC and love having a cabin getaway that is our happy place. We hope you love it, too.
Why they chose this property
We love its proximity to Yellowstone National Park and all of the opportunities for outdoor recreation. It is surrounded by some of the best waters for fly-fishing, one of our favorite things to do together. We love the traditional look of a log cabin - it makes us feel grounded in the landscape, yet with all of the modern updates.
