About this property
Lakeside cottage with west shore island sunsets and views of the Adirondacks.
Plan your next waterfront vacation at Jam Lodge, a charming cottage on the shores of Lake Champlain. You and your guests will enjoy what we consider the best views on the island from the Adirondack chairs that overlook a private beach and the views of the Adirondack mountains.
THE PROPERTY
Our cottage has been enjoyed by four generations of our family, and we are ready to share it with you. Get ready to make your own memories and fun in this magical place.
The cottage was built in the 1940's, by a local craftsman. They furnishings were handmade to fit the cottage and have stood the test of time. Cozy knotty pine adorn the walls and glow in the beautiful sunsets that await you.
The Bedrooms have handmade twin over twin bunkbeds. Sleeps five to ten persons if using upper bunks.
One Bedroom has one set of twin bunk beds, dresser and closet with personal sink .
Second and third bedrooms have two sets of twin bunk beds , dressers and closets.
The house has one full bathroom with shower, and a great private outdoor shower.
The main living space has a dining area with table perfect for eating and playing games.
two couches, and plenty of seating and a wood stove fireplace. with a great view of the lake.
All the amenities that you will need to feel comfortable as possible during your stay here, including wifi, flat screen tv, puzzles, games, and books.
There is a fully appointed kitchen to prepare home cooked meals, and laundry room with washer and dryer for your laundry needs, as well as extra game and dining space.
There are plenty of local markets within a 10 to 20 minute drive on the islands for your convenience. We suggest you stock up on your initial grocery run, at the Price Chopper in Champlain, NY 30 minutes away, or in St. Albans, or Burlington.
Please note that this home's water is drawn directly from Lake Champlain, while perfectly fine for bathing, doing dishes, etc, we do recommend bringing your own drinking water.
Garage stocked with water toys and lawn games and freezer . Plenty of outside parking on lawn near garage.
The large, landscaped yard is perfectly suited for relaxing on handmade Adirondack chairs, playing lawn games, a nice long picnic table, and shade from lovely trees. Fire up the gas grill for an outdoor barbecue and eat al fresco on our large picnic table as you see the lake shimmer and sailboats glide by, right before your eyes.
There is a partially covered front porch, with chairs for having a nice sunset cocktail, and enjoying the view, and stunning sunsets.
THINGS TO DO
Sit and read on the handmade Adirondack chairs, relax on the porch and sip a cocktail as you gaze upon the waters of Lake Champlain. Use our dock to swim and sit on our private spacious beach. you will find plenty of fossils if you look closely. Have a bonfire on the beach and roast some marshmallows and share stories to end your day.
Fishing and water sports are excellent, and have kept our children happy and active all summer. Some of the best fishing for bass, perch, walleye and pike in the islands is right off our property. There are antique stores, apple orchards , wineries and nature preserves all along the Champlain Islands, within biking or driving distance. We are located next door to the Fisk Quarry Preserve, a 20 acre site which contains rich wetland habitat for birds and animals as well as the home to the 450 million year old Chazy Fossil Reef.
Each week in July and August, the Goodsell Quarry features musical entertainment and art exhibitions.

ABOUT THE OWNERS
Jam Lodge has been in our family for almost 70 years. It has been enjoyed by us for four generations. Nearly all the properties in our bay are occupied by the families of the original owners, that built the cottages here. Our children have grown up and played with the children of the friends we grew up with. As did our parents, making this cottage a place filled with lots of memories and great stories. This makes our little island community a great place to visit and the atmoshphere is family friendly, and laid back.
May you also love this place as much as we do, we look forward to you coming back year after year.

Enjoyed by our family for four generations. We are four cousins who now own JAM Lodge. Our great uncle John bought this property in the forties. Since then we have spent every summer at this very special cottage, making memories and enjoying the wonders of Isle La Motte.
Why they chose this property
We believe our cottage has the best views on the island. From the sparking waters of Lake Champlain , to the spectacular sunsets, it is a postcard setting . The cottage was built by a local craftsman, and it possesses a charm and vintage appeal with handmade furniture and pine walls that glow in the sunlight.
The private beach is perfect for swimming, boating , fossil hunting , and relaxing . The lawn is spacious and perfect for a game of croquet or bocce ball. Enjoy the Champlain Islands and use our cottage as home base or never leave our place, either way you will always remember your stay with fond memories.
