The Hermitage Retreat is a family only destination. Unrelated parties are not allowed. The Hermitage Retreat is an unique experience. Nestled into over ten wooded acres, with over a half mile of Gun Lake shoreline. The house is spacious enough to accommodate large families and gatherings. A conservation trail system winds throughout the wooded acreage providing year round activities such as hiking, biking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing.
The Hermitage Retreat is located next to the Yankee Springs Recreational Area. It's also is close to many restaurants, golf courses, and quaint little towns.

Our Favorite Vacation Rental

We Love staying here! Very clean, very roomy and has everything you would need. They added extra mooring anchors this year which worked out great for our boat and 2 jet skis. The property manager Kim is great to work with. Looking forward to returning next year!!

This property is a slice of paradise!! Everything from the house and yard to the trails and dock were amazing!! The home owners provide more than any other VRBO house we've ever stayed at. Kim was wonderful to work with!! We were able to check in early and she was always quick to respond to our questions. We hope to book the place again next summer!!

Amazing Vacation!

Great property! Very clean and roomy. Great location up on a hillside. The house had everything we needed in the kitchen. An extra refrigerator in the garage was a bonus. Water is very sandy and shallow along the shoreline and dock. It was great for swimming or just floating. Kayaks and paddle boards are provided which was fun. Kim was easy to get ahold of with any questions. Looking forward to returning!!

4th Time at Hermitage Retreat; It just keeps getting better!

Just returned from spending 10 wonderful days at our “Home away from home”. This was our first stay in the summertime so we were able to take full advantage of the lakefront activities. Lots of swimming in the crystal clear water, kayaking and peddling on the lake in the newly offered pedal power boat. As always, Kimberly was in communication and took care of any requests to make our stay perfect. The house is ideal for our large family of 10 adults, 3 teenagers and an 8 and 2 year old. The two bedrooms on the first floor mean no stairs for any seniors. We are already planning vacation #5.

Just an amazing family gathering

Large, clean home, we had to take our shoes off it was so clean, very accommodating, kitchen well stocked, 2 refrigerators were nice, large seating area in dining room, no rain all week, fished every day, caught a large Pike in front of dock, had a nice fish fry, we spent every afternoon at the excellent sandy beach, loved the steps to the water. Boat dock would be a plus in future. Fire pit every night, brand new Weber Gas Grill. Bikes/Trails so much to do in a week. Celebrated 3 birthdays, corn hole tournament, Bingo night, card games, WiFi was great. Pet friendly (kept dogs kenneled most of the time). Kim was very helpful and eager to answer any questions that we may have. Very private property on 10 acres. We have rented since 1992 and this was best one in the last 8 years, but the old saying, “you get what you pay for”. Thanks for the memories!!

A Little Slice of Heaven

I can't even begin to describe the amazing "experience" we had staying at the Hermitage Retreat. Kim was the best host I have ever encountered on this site taking care of our every need and staying in contact throughout the weekend. The house was immaculately maintained and was furnished more like a high end home than a rental property. There was a wide assortment of gently used pots and pans to cook with along with all kinds of extras including utensils, salt and pepper, cooking spray, aluminum foil, and many other things that you would typically have to buy. Plenty of glasses and dishes to accommodate our group of 16. The beds were extremely comfortable and there were enough of them that we only had to double up in the two kings. The walkway down to the water was impeccably maintained and safe to walk, even in bare feet. I have never felt more at home and more well taken care of at a rental property than I did here. I would highly recommend the Hermitage Retreat to anyone looking for a relaxing home away from home for their large group getaway.

Great time with family!

The house & property is very neat & clean! There were twelve of us & the five bedrooms & two full bathrooms on first & second floor were very roomy. There is one television in TV room upstairs.? Linens, bath & beach towels, paper towels, & toilet paper were all provided. The kitchen was furnished with plenty of silverware, dishes, pots & pans. The second refrigerator in the garage was very handy. We didn't realize we couldn't tie our two boats to the dock but had tie to mooring anchors away from dock. Each time you want to fish, someone has to get into the water to move the boat to the dock for others to get inside the boat. The water by the dock is shallow & has a sandy bottom. Kayaks, canoes, & paddle boards were great for kids & adults. Kim & Jeff, the owners, were great whenever we needed something!

Great Family Retreat!

We loved our stay at the Retreat! It was the perfect place for a getaway for our extended family. The kids loved the playground area, the beach, toys on the porch, playing in the water and on the paddleboards/kayaks. We loved that we could safely and securely moor two boats and head out on them at our leisure. The patio and path down to the water area is superb, and the interior of the house feels new, clean, and well taken care of. Jeff & Kim were extremely responsive hosts and made sure we had everything we needed in proper order. We would highly recommend staying here to anyone interested!

Dream cottage of mine on Gun Lake! All amenities were well thought of and makes your vacation just about effortless and ready for nothing but water fun and relaxation! We had a family reunion there after many many years of gathering together and they all wish to do it again next year!!! Couldn’t ask for anything more and although it is expensive it is worth it for the location, the sleeping capacity, the outdoor spaces, the playground for kiddos, the water jackets and toys provided, the fire pit and chairs on an expansive waterfront lake view patio, and the kitchen gadgets are endless! Sad to go…..Thank you!

The house and grounds are stunning. There is so much to do. The grandkids spent most of their time swimming. We had a small problem due to weather. There was a major storm and we lost power but the owners did everything they could to make sure we still had a great time.
