Beautiful Log Home Retreat - Hike & Swim!

This beautiful log home is located just 7 minutes from uptown Athens but feels secluded in the countryside. Explore 18 acres of hiking trails and the swimming pond, or simply sit back and enjoy the view from your large wrap-around deck and picture windows. This custom built cabin is fully furnished with everything you could dream of and features hardwood floors, geothermal heating, wood burning stove and stylish furniture which make this charming retreat cozy as can be! The surrounding area is filled with outdoor recreation opportunities and lovely Appalachian landscape. The town itself brings the many cultural advantages of a university town - musical performances, the Dairy Barn
Regional Arts Center, loads of bike paths, an art cinema, museums and restaurants, etc.

6 people maximum, including children.

We look forward to your enjoyment of our special place!

We are retired professors in speech therapy and video production. We love nature and traveling. When we're not enjoying our fabulous deck, lush hiking trails and enormous pond, we're probably exploring the world and making our beautiful home available to you. We're enjoying spending more and more time in the Colorado Rockies where our daughter lives and where we once lived for 20 years.

A slice of Ohio at it's best.

Wonderful rental secluded yet close everything you'd want or need. Enjoyed the bird and deer watching as well as the pond for fishing and swimming I would recommend it to anyone.

Peace, quiet and lots of space

This house was close to town, but yet was also very secluded. We enjoyed walking the short trails on the property and hanging out on the deck. The house is very spacious in terms of living space with two living rooms (one more for sitting, the other a TV room). The kitchen is well stocked. There are two bedrooms with a center area that can become a third bedroom if you close the curtain. The two full bathrooms are spacious and very nice. The house and landscaping are beautiful and the owners seem to have lots of nice local pottery. We enjoyed our stay very much and will return.

wife and I stayed new years eve and few days after, the place is so welcoming and one of the cleanest we have stayed in with VRBO that we did not want to leave to do anything! should be 5 start all the way and we will be back ...contact with owner was above and beyond....Thanks again Emily. Perfect in every way!

Our family completely enjoyed this beautiful log cabin home overlooking a lake. The house was very spacious, very clean and comfortable. We spent most of our time on the wrap around deck, enjoying the view and the yellow finches that came to the bird feeders. Enjoyed all the little touches, like fresh flowers on the tables. I only wish I had found this place when my daughter was a freshman at OU and not a senior- but it was the perfect place to stay for graduation. Only a few minutes to campus. Would very highly recommend to anyone!!

Great place for a quiet family getaway.

Our first impression of this cabin was that the pictures didn't do this place justice. It really is a beautiful place. When we first arrived, it was very warm inside, but we figured we just needed to adjust the temp and give it time. We realized soon enough that the A.C. wasn't working and we were there at one of the hottest weeks of the year. We emailed the owner and she immediately spoke with a heating and cooling company, and had someone out as soon as was possible. It was fixed, and the rest of our week went on without incident. We swam, went canoeing, and fished in the pond. The water is a little gross, but that's nature. We walked some of the paths, which weren't as clear as some of us city slickers would hope for, but again that's nature and how it's supposed to be. The bird feeders were empty when we arrived, but on day 3 we found the seed, and enjoyed bird watching on the deck from then on out. The wrap around deck was amazing, with plenty of seating to enjoy the views. There is a place to have fires with plenty of wood on sight. You are nicely removed, but still close to all the restaurants and stores. We had a great, relaxing vacation, and would highly recommend this cabin.

Perfect retreat

My husband and I LOVED this place. It's beautiful, well-cared for, and clean. It's in a great location--super-close to Athens, but still offering the feeling of being away from town. Right up the road is Pleasant Hill Vineyard, a lovely winery with surprisingly good wine(!). This place, combined with all the activities we partook in, made this vacation a really memorable one!

I would love to give the home 5 stars, however, it does not have 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms as advertised. The home has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with a daybed in an office area between the bedrooms. Additionally, there is an "owner's" apartment below the home that has people stopping by at all sorts of irregular times which was certainly awkward and off-putting. It would have been nice to know this prior to renting the home. Other than that, the home was very nice, and its location has easy access to 33.

Beautiful home

We rented this for the week of my sons graduation from OU. Certainly better than a hotel! We loved the house, well kept, clean, pretty. The views were beautiful. I felt such peace there. Very happy we chose this home.

Exactly what we needed!

What a lovely location, quiet and rural but close to town for great coffeeshops, restaurants, getting groceries.... We needed a place while our college-student young adults were off classes between semesters, during a time when our finances have been VERY tight. Exactly what we needed! An with young adults, wifi and Netflix and satellite tv and Amazon viewing were exactly what was needed. The dog and I roamed trails on site and in the area (Athens and Stroud Run), and the birds kept thick at the feeders. Two spacious bathrooms -- wow! And plenty warm enough even with the cold snap (0 degrees). So we had a place to call "home" over the holiday season, where we could all be together. In the summer, with decks and porch and outdoor space and pond, it could only be even better!

We stayed in this beautifully made home in autumn. The home was bright and cheery and comfortable. We were able to hang out on the deck into the evening and look out over the pond. Very peaceful and quiet, yet close to the fun of Athens. We enjoyed exploring on the extensive forested hiking trails. Our dog loved it too! It was a delight to be there.

Are you kidding me!

This place is fantastic! Like your own personal island with the house of anyone's dreams! So beautifully designed home with a handmade uniqueness, but elegant as well. Handmade pots, plates, paintings, and sculptures done by their daughter with a degree in architectural interior. A deck surrounding almost the entire home. Float on the crystal clear lake circling the home like a huge moat. At night we watched a fairyland of thousands of fireflies dance through the forest canopy on the property. Then the choir of bullfrogs competing for the frog princess. Near the university. Lovely places to eat, music, yoga and culture. I loved staying here. Wish to come again soon!
