About this property
Capurro Ranch at Moss Landing - Moss Landing House - 5BR with cottage at Elkhorn Slough
You won't believe the views from this one-of-a-kind property overlooking the ocean and the famed Elkhorn Slough! Perched on a bluff midway between Monterey and Santa Cruz, set amid working lettuce and strawberry fields, this 5-bedroom 1950s ranch home has commanding views of the tidal wetlands—a haven for birds, otters, seals and other wildlife. From here you can fish, whale watch, kayak, or explore some of the most lovely beaches in California—and you're just minutes from Moss Landing, a quaint beach town known for great seafood restaurants, cafes and galleries. Enter and step down to the ocean view living room with a leather sofa and chairs facing a large fireplace. Immediately adjacent, the family room has a second fireplace, a large TV, a game table that seats four, and access to a brick courtyard with chairs for lounging and a pergola for shade. There's also a grassy yard and a second patio with an upholstered sectional, a firepit, a Genesis gas barbecue, and a table and chairs for outdoor dining. The property's history as a working ranch home is apparent in the rustic, mid-Century decor: miles of redwood paneling, vintage tile, and extensive use of brick and flagstone. The ranch style kitchen has a dining table for eight (with leaf), a five-burner electric cooktop, built-in double ovens, and a restaurant-style refrigerator. A second refrigerator with top freezer is located in the adjoining laundry room, which doubles as a second prep kitchen. The home has five bedrooms and four full baths. There are four bedrooms and three baths in the main house; the separate guest cottage is in back. The master suite—with garden, ocean and estuary views—has a King bed, a mirrored dressing area, extensive closets, and an en suite bath with a shower and a "walk-in" tub. The adjoining workout room has a built-in ballet barre (bring your exercise mats!). The other three bedrooms (Queen, Double, and two XL twins) share two full baths with showers: one bath is located in the hall; the other is adjacent to the kitchen and laundry room. The private guest cottage has a Queen bed, TV, leather chair, window seat, and a kitchenette. There's bar seating for two along with a four-burner electric range, an apartment size refrigerator, and a petite Cuisinart coffee maker. Located at the end of a palm-lined drive, this is the perfect home for lovers of the outdoors and a great base to explore all the natural wonders of the Monterey Peninsula. Up to two dogs accepted with prior screening at https://monterey.petscreening.com Closest beaches: Moss Landing State Beach (0.9 miles) and Zmudowski State Beach (2.8 miles). Monthly discount available. Stays over one month are subject to utility rate caps. 0

My family loved this home, it was beautiful and the kitchen was well stocked…The beds were very comfortable and bedding was top notch… We will most definitely book this property again…Thank You!!!!
This was the perfect house/property for our family gathering. Everyone, all ages, had a great time. Plenty of space, very clean, & beautiful scenery. Great location that gave you privacy, but still close to all the main attractions. Looking forward to coming back again!
Beautiful and spacious ranch with gorgeous views. Well stocked kitchen. Very homey.

Don’t miss the opportunity to vacation here!
What a wonderful home and great place for morning family time before going to one of the many beaches, hikes, kayaking, shopping, parks, or just exploring. And then return in the evening to a spacious kitchen for family dinners and watching the sunset over moss landing. We had everything we needed for a comfortable and fun family vacation.
Wonderful ranch style older home with some remodeling— so comfortable! Well stocked. So much room inside and out for our grand littles (6, 4, 19 months) to interact and play. Roomy bedrooms, particularly the master—-so nice!! 4 upgraded bathrooms. Well located for visits to the beach, Pacific Grove, Monterey, Santa Cruz!!Hoping to return annually! No need for us to find anything else. I would give it a 10 if I could..
We had a group of six. Bedrooms and bathrrom accommodations were perfect. The property is gorgeous and the location is about 30 mins from seaside/Monterey. Property Manager is responsive in case of issues.
Highly recommend!

Monterey Car Week Getaway
5 of us traveled to Monterey for Car Week 2024. Our stay in the house was awesome. Very clean and Frank was a fabulous host. This is the second time our group has stayed in this house and we will definitely be back. Thanks Frank!!
Everything was wonderful about this home. Inside—plenty of space to spread out and wonderful spaces to be together. Great yard for dogs, beautiful landscaping. So relaxing. We will definitely be back.
The house was perfect for a friends get together. The view from the living room and dining room had us grabbing our binoculars all the time. The house was great and spread out. The beds were comfortable. We had a great time.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Capurro Ranch. The property was clean and well-maintained, and the views from the property were nothing short of amazing.
The location is great; secluded enough to feel private but still close to restaurants and activities. The birdwatchers in our group had plenty to get excited about.
The property manager was responsive and easy to work with.
Overall, I highly recommend this property.

Great family holiday!!
The house was perfect for our gathering of family for Hanukkah. So spacious and VERY clean. The views were wonderful even though it was grey and wet most of the time we were there. The kitchen was well stocked with all the necessities. During this time of Covid it was wonderful to have a place to stay that was far away from anyone. I would and probably will stay here again in the future. My whole family loved this house.

Relaxing Stay
We thoroughly loved our visit to the Capurro Ranch. It was a beautiful, comfortable home. Very quiet, very clean. Lots of parking. Easy rules to follow. Very little to do before checkout - I really appreciate this. It’s necessary to drive everywhere but very close (driving distance) to beach, kayak rentals, restaurants, fruit stands. Close to Monterey and Carmel for day visits - so much to do. Can’t wait to return!
The brown paneling evokes so many treasured memories for My group of 60 plus gals. We all grew up in 70’s Ranch Style just like this. Thanx for the Flashbacks.

Awesome Experience
The home exceeded our expectations! The location was beautiful and I didn't expect the seclusion and privacy it offered; close to attractions in the area. The home was beautiful, well stocked and offered a setting that allowed us not to get in each other's way. Guys watching t.v., kids working puzzles and playing board games (provided by the host). Also separate area for the adults that wanted to just kick back and enjoy the great view. The guest house was a real +. If I could have, I would have rated our experience a "10"! Will be back again!!

Great visit on the Elkhorn Slough!
We loved this house! It’s utterly unique, both in location and design. The adjacency and views of the Elkhorn Slough are spectacular! We saw sea otters, seals, and thousands of birds through the windows in the dining and living rooms. We hiked and kayaked. We visited breweries and wineries. We spent a day at the Monterey Aquarium. We cooked great meals, played fun board games, and enjoyed family time. We used the grill and fire pit, very nice. We wished a bit for more king beds (we were four couples), but that’s a very minor issue. We give this house the highest marks!!!
Capurro Ranch is a stunning home set in an incredibly picturesque setting. While there was so much to do in the area, one could literally spend a day or two just hanging out at this house enjoying the view all day. The view is beautiful from all angles and needs some time to take in. Bring your binoculars! Our group was fairly large and this sprawling home was more than comfortable for the lot of us. There is even a mini dance studio we used for dance parties for our kids. The kitchen is very well equipped which is good because we cooked most of our meals. The home owner was gracious enough to stop by to say hi and make sure we were enjoying everything, but did not intrude. When you do feel like leaving the property there is lots of outdoor activities to do at the beach or in Elkhorn Slough. Moss Landing and the area has some good restaurant options so you won't be stuck in the car too long when out for the day.
We went to Moss Landing to kayak in the estuary and enjoy some family time. We found this house to be perfectly suited to our needs - there were ten of us (two children) plus a dog. It's a beautiful house with tons of space and more built-in storage than any of us had ever seen! The "dance studio" was our granddaughters' favorite room. Lots of kitchen amenities, many fireplaces (we only used one), beautiful views of the gardens and estuary from inside the house. It's not actually *at* the beach - I missed that small detail when booking - but it's a 2 minute drive to get there, it's close to kayaking outfitters and several casual restaurants, and only 30 minutes from the Monterey wharf. Michael was very responsive when I had questions about the property, and Frank came by and shared some of his family's history as we were checking out. We've driven past this property many times over the years without noticing it - now we all look forward to staying again.

Wonderful Home
This home was truly wonderful for our two families, with 3 young adult children (16, 18 and 21). We were able to spread out and relax within the home while still enjoying being together. The home feels mid-century modern, but very up to date. We took advantage of multiple seating areas and the private backyard.
The kitchen was spacious and easy to navigate. We used both the grill and the fire pit. I appreciated having the second refrigerator (with an ice maker) as we brought a lot of food for multiple family meals. I also appreciated the 5 gallon water dispenser - not something you find in vacation rentals and it was greatly appreciated.
We did the 1/2 mile walk to the beach several time and also drove over to the state beach next door. We rented kayaks in Moss Landing and enjoyed seeing the house from the water. Easy drive to Monterey. The house is easy to find, private and centrally located. At night we could hear the faint roar of the ocean in the distance.
We had no need for interaction with the staff. The house was very clean. Check in and check out were a breeze.

Calm, comfortable, Soothing views and never ending bird watching. Timeless home so welcoming.
This was our 2nd visit to Capurro Ranch. Knowing what to expect was even more fun than the first visit. Last time we had more rain than not so most of our time was dicated by that. But Capurro Ranch is the perfect home to be stranded inside....... games galore, books of so many interesting subject and our own music and conversation was more than enough.
This time the weather was much warmer but our time was short. We chose to cut it by one day (even after paying for it!!) due to work needs. But we missed that extra day alot. The most important thing I can say to those considering visiting this glorious property is JUST GO! There is no glitz or false glamore there... it is deep rooted quality through and through. It likely will look as solid and lovely 100 years from now. Everything was done simply and beautifully. You must experience the calm and beauty to fully appreciate the obvious family history. Caputto Family, thank you for sharing and allowing others to enjoy your home. Its a treasure.
