========================= ATENTION TRAVELERS =========================
DUE TO LACK OF INTERNET SERVICE FROM SEPTEMBER 13 TO SEPTEMBER 28 I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RECIEVE OR SEND RESPONSE TO ALL REQUEST FROM THOSE DATES. CONTACT ME AFTER SEPTEMBER 28.
Wortham House is a circa 1823 gothic revival carriage house (the oldest in this style in Charleston and the USA) located in the center of a city block behind an 1804 private residence in downtown Charleston. Both properties are on the national Register of Historic Places.
Wortham House has three bedrooms in the second floor each featuring twin beds (one of which can be converted to a king), flat screen TV's and full private bathrooms. The house can accommodate 6 adults. The first floor features a large, tastefully furnished lounge perfect for morning reading with coffee and afternoon cocktails. A powder room is located adjacent to the lounge. A dine in kitchen for six is also adjacent to the lounge when breakfast is served until 9am. In the kitchen there is a refrigerator, an oven and microwave for heating of food brought in to the house. Unfortunately cooking per se is not allowed by the city of Charleston.
Wortham House is surrounded by award winning gardens published in multiple magazines and books. It has been most recently recognized by the Smithsonian Archives of American Gardens and the Garden Conservatory of America's Best twenty-five gardens in the U.S. Space in the garden is available for dining. Off street parking for 2-3 cars is incorporated in the garden.
We do not allow pets, children under the age of 18, or cooking on premise. Although your breakfast is included in your rate. The entire property is non-smoking, including the driveway and garden. Multiple level changes in the old building and the garden make it unsuitable for those who are unsteady on their feet. Also, no rollaway beds provided.
City of Charleston operation permit (required on website) - Residential STR-OP2019-00668
