About this property
Quiet, Cozy and Quaint Log Cabin Living!
Robins Roost is modern real log cabin living which is quiet, cozy and quaint. A 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with beds for 12 people, which includes 3 beds, 2 queen sofa beds and 2 fold out single beds. Close to the Royal Gorge (35 mins), fishing/white water rafting on the Arkansas River ( 15 mins), skiing at Monarch (1+hr), Hot Springs and spas in Salida and Mt Princeton Hot Springs are both within a short 1 to 1 to 1+ hour driving distance. There is access to public lands for exploring, hiking, and hunting. Enjoy Colorado outdoor living and adventures at its finest.
Robins Roost offers amazing views from the front porch. You can also sip coffee while sitting on the balcony outside the private loft bedroom or make s'mores sitting around the outdoor fire pit. All bedding, towels and basic toiletries are provided. Need to do some laundry? A washer and dryer is also available for your use. If you want to enjoy the fire-pit outdoors, you are welcome to bring your own wood. If you didn’t bring, there is some wood in the manger shed to use. Please use cautian and note any burn ban restrictions noted on the sign near Cotopaxi listing fire dangers.
You'll find the cabin accommodating, clean and well kept. I recently remodeled the downstairs bathroom to include a tiled, walk-in shower. Baseboard heaters in the bedrooms and basement along with a newly installed AC/Heat split unit help keep the living areas warm and cozy. You'll find everything you need to cook, including slow cookers. an air fryer, keurig coffee maker and pots and pans. Please keep pets off the beds and funiture or bring your own coverings as we try to accomodate both pet friendly and non-pet guests.
Inside you can enjoy a game of billiards on a full size pool table, or a game of darts or play board games. There are two smart TV's for your entertainment. Starlink provides fast and relaiable wifi and internet connection. Outside you'll find horseshoes or play a few rounds of frisbee golf on the course surrounding the cabin. And of course, bring your hiking shoes and hike to the top of Robins Peak and see incredible views of the Sangre de Cristo mountains to the south and pikes peak to the north. Please remember to drink lots of warter, it'll help prevent altitude sickenss if you're not used to the arid climate and altitude.
PLEASE NOTE! There are two Ring security cameras on the property. One covers the front driveway and entrance and the second one covers the side door entrance. I have installed signs under each camera to notify all guests and visitors.

About the host
Hosted by Eric Norris
I lost Robin my best friend and marriage partner of 27 years to cancer in July 2019. This part of Colorado was our favorite place to visit and relax so I purchased this cabin as a permanent place to retreat and relax and for friends and family to come and "roost" for awhile.
Why they chose this property
If you're looking for a quiet place to get away, far enough away to escape and close enough to enjoy Colorado's adventures this is the place. A real log cabin with modern facilities that's not overly fancy or overly expensive but clean, cozy and welcoming.
What makes this property unique
The cabin is located 9.5 straight north of Cotopaxi. Take state road 12 (across the street from the Cotopaxi General Store) 4 miles on paved road. Turn left on Spruce Basis Rd just before the cattle guard (if you cross the cattle guard you've gone too far!) and travel 5.5 miles on county (gravel) road staying on Spruce Basin then Basin Dr. The county road is maintained. The driveway to Robin's Roost is short but may require a 4X4 to navigate uphill driveway during winter/snowy months.
