If you live in the Denver area, you should skip the I-70 traffic fiasco and come to Chaffee County for a more realistic Colorado old-time experience.
A rare combination of vintage Victorian and modern amenities in a cottage setting. Perfect House to visit for those who want to enjoy the Heart of the Rockies, Salida.Wi-Fi included. Due to the antique furniture nature of the property, it is not recommended for rambunctious children. Short-term rental license number 0344.
This 115 year old home has been entirely remodeled with attentive care to re-use the original molding where possible. The two-bedrooms sleep six. The upstairs bath includes a claw foot tub and shower combination. The lower bathroom is a shower , sink and toilet only. The kitchen was re-modeled in 2006 as we popped the top to make the ceilings 10 feet tall. It includes a customer handmade, wood topped island. New carpet in 2014. Corner Lot. Huge deck in the back yard to sprawl out on and sit under the elm tree. Beautifully landscaped corner lot. Laundry facilities on-site.

Great house, great location
We had a very nice time at this house. It suited us perfectly and was a great home base to walk into town as well as skip up to Monarch for a day of skiing. We would stay there again.
We’ve traveled to Salida 7 times, always staying somewhere new. We will be back next summer and have already booked this location for that future trip. Location, cleanliness, layout, outdoor space, comfort - this place had it all.
It was the perfect place for our time together. A short walk to Main Street for shopping, eating and Ghost tour, soaking at My. Princeton & a drive up Monarch Pass to see the glistening golden aspens & cottonwoods.
This is an excellent place to stay in Salida!! Everything you need and comfortable beds and furniture. We will certainly keep this rental in mind when we return to Salida!
We were very comfortable and couldn't be happier about the location--walking distance to downtown. House was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Hosts are superb! Thank you."
This is the second time we stayed in this house. It is a great house that is in a wonderful neighborhood. We stayed in the same place last year and found it just as clean and comfortable as in our previous visit. Acces was easy and we were a 15 minute walk from downtown. We visited in July and while it was very warm during the day the house stayed very comfortable. It has a great patio and we were even visited by a young buck one day.
The property was charming, well stocked with supplies, appliances, etc., and in a wonderful location with a 10-15 minute walk to town as well as breweries/restaurants on hwy 50. The backyard was beautiful and a great place to eat dinner and the shade on the porch was wonderful for coffee! We will definitely be back!
We had a great stay over the 4th of July. The house had everything we needed. We had a great bbq on the back deck and our sweet senior dog loved the yard. We walked downtown for dinner a few times and loved the location and the neighborhood. Lovely house!
Charming cottage, beautifully renovated and equipped with absolutely everything you could ever need. We had a wonderful stay. The owners were extremely responsive and helpful. Everything was perfect!
My family loves Salida an we love this place. This is our 2nd year staying here and we basically planned our vacation around the time available for this home. I love the home because it has been all modernized but reminds me of visiting my great grandmother as a child!
It was so nice to have a pet friendly home with a big fenced in yard and still close enough to walk into town.
We had a wonderful stay in the clean home with a spacious and well equipped kitchen.
It’s a 15 minute walk to town, where we enjoyed the restaurants, shops, drinks and coffee. It’s a quiet street and the beds were comfortable too!
Thanks for being great hosts!
Property was perfect for our family of five and golden doodle. We all loved it! Thank you!

About the host
Hosted by Doug and/or Leanna Lampshire
Doug and Leanna are Colorado Natives who fell in love with Salida and wish to share the beauty, charm and pace this gem has to offer. We love to ride downtown on bikes and go out for a glass of wine, eat at a great local restaurant and listen to a local band. Riding "duckies" down the river is a blast!
Why they chose this property
There is just something very tranquil about this house. You WILL feel it when you get here. We invested in this property because we respect the style and grace of older homes, transom windows. The original parlor and 8" mouldings are very appealing to us.
What makes this property unique
Sit on the loveseat rocker on the front porch or grill on the back deck. The back deck is large and private. The backyard is big enough to play catch, croquet or frisbee.
