About this property

Thunder Mountain Place - Quiet, Comfortable Place Offering DISCOUNT ON TOURS!

It's a spacious apartment situated at the base of Thunder Mountain, up against a greenbelt with trails extending to the Mendenhall Glacier. This space is priced for four people to make it affordable and appealing to smaller groups, but can accommodate up to six people.

There is a trailhead at the end of the street extending to the Mendenhall Glacier on relatively flat, even terrain. This place sleeps up to 7 people, with a unique desirable floor plan. This beautifully upgraded three-bedroom apartment with granite kitchen, and stainless appliances is an easy to keep clean, pet friendly space featuring laminate flooring throughout. The unique design of this property joins three dwelling units with a three-bay garage, so no units share any walls. Thunder Mountain Place is a ground floor unit. There is no charge for off street parking. Garage parking is not available at this time.

One bedroom features a private, half bathroom and a King sized bed. The other two bedrooms have queen beds.

6 miles from the Juneau Ferry Terminal, 2 miles from the airport, 3 miles from the famous Mendenhall Glacier, 4 miles from the University of Alaska,10.5 miles from Downtown Juneau and 21 miles from Eaglecrest Ski Area. The bus stop is a 10-minute walk, and there is a convenience store just steps from the bus stop. Two bikes are available for rent from this location for $10 per bike per day for your entire stay, or for longer term stays the bikes are $50 per bike per stay.

You'll enjoy your private three bedroom apartment. We have a rollaway bed to accommodate a seventh person. The King room has a private 1/2 bathroom. It's self check-in so late arrival is not a problem. You'll be given the lock box code a few days prior to your arrival.

Host, Kelli, happens to be a co-owner of a large tour company with over 25 tours throughout Alaska, and offers 10% discount on all tours offered by the company to her vacation rental guests. Popular tours offered in Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway, and Sitka include whale watching, salmon bakes, river rafting, kayaking, canoe tours, boat tours, hiking, gold panning, private cars, Mendenhall Glacier tours, jeep tours, Alaska RV and Cruise tour packages, and more. If you're interested, ask Kelli and she'll send you the details.

Pets are welcome upon approval for a fee. Please inquire about monthly pet fees. We want to offer pet friendly places and we want your business, but we want you to be happy. We strive to keep the properties clean and maintained for all guests, which this fee helps pay for. You'll be asked to rate the value of your experience, and If this fee creates a diminished value perception, then we hope you find another fabulous place for your party.

We will strive to provide the best vacation experience for you and hope to earn your five star review! Expectations should be limited to what is promised here, and reviews should reflect how we did with these promises. Before submitting your review, please remember to base it on the following criteria and what was promised to be provided for the price paid as follows:

Easy check-in process – You'll be able to self-check in. Kelli will give you check-in details prior to arrival, including a lock box code. You'll be able to access the rental at your leisure after check-in time, at 4pm. We offer early check-in options, if it's available a couple days prior to your arrival for $25-$50, depending on your arrival time.

Great Communication – Kelli is known to be responsive to guests before, during, and after their stay. You can expect prompt responses to your questions. She'll respond to web site messages as soon as she can.

Clean Accommodations – Your private apartment should be sparkling clean.

Great Mendenhall Valley Location – It's a 10 minute walk from the city bus stop and three miles from the famous Mendenhall Glacier which you can get to by car, bike (available for rent at this property) or walking on a paved bike path or gravel trail. You can take the bus for two miles and walk the third mile. This is not a downtown Juneau property. Downtown Juneau is substantially more expensive than the Mendenhall Valley, so this location for the price should not be compared to that of downtown. If you want to be downtown, and don't want to take a 45 minute bus ride to go 16 miles, then this space is not for you.

Accurate Description of the space - I try to make continuous improvements when guests make suggestions and do my best to keep the changes updated and published. If I missed something please let me know, so I can update the information. If you are missing something you were counting on, please let me know immediately, so I can try to provide it for your stay.

Great Value – Juneau is expensive, especially during peak season, and while this is a more affordable option, we understand that it can seem expensive. Part of the value is the ability to rent for only one night and have an additional person. The price fluctuates depending on the season. We have to charge more when the business is there, so that we can afford to have it vacant for long, slow periods.

Have a fantastic trip!

Alaskan Cruise Adventures Day 1
Many thanks to Kelli for a quick response and the ability to handle our group! We had delays in our flight causing us to miss our cruise embarkation. Kelli had a spot for us in Juneau and we throughly enjoyed our day and a half there. Mendenhall Glacier, Gondola ride and hiking. Rental is well placed for glacier hiking. You will need transportation to get into downtown Juneau.

Great stay with bear and eagle sightings
Thunder Mountain place was a comfortable and convenient home base for our Juneau trip: the house was clean and well maintained; the owner was very responsive when we had questions; and we enjoyed seeing wildlife around the property (at a safe distance). Thanks for a great stay!

Perfect for our needs.
As our family was purchasing groceries and gear for our two week trek into the wilds of Alaska, this property worked perfectly as a base to consolidate and package everything before taking the Alaska Marine Highway ferry out to the island. Much better than attempting the same task out of a couple of hotel rooms.
