We throughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin by the river this week. The cabin was beautiful and had a rustic charm and everything was very clean and spacious. We will be going back again as the host met all our expectations. If you want peace and quiet this is your place to be.
The property was amazing and so well stocked with everything we needed to cook and enjoy! It was a perfect house for a perfect getaway! We loved it and hope to go back very soon! The owners are so sweet and thoughtful! They even had a bottle of wine waiting on us when we arrived! Top notch!!! Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Thank you for your warm review, Shannon! We're so happy to hear that you had a great stay and we welcome you back anytime!!
We had a great time, the rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. The hosts made sure we had everything we needed. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking, plenty of dishes, cookware, flatware etc.The grounds and scenery were beautiful and our dog Maggie May had a blast running all over. We will definitely check and see if this cabin is available when we decide to return to Jacksonville.
The entire property was amazingly beautiful!! It was all that my family and I could have asked for. We cooked, grilled, and fished had an amazing time.
Outstanding vacation home!! The pictures do not depict just how awesome this place is. Beautifully appointed with even more than you will anticipate! Kitchen was outfitted with anything you could possibly need. Our pup Chance enjoyed the large, fenced-in yard and was able to actually run at full gate due to the expanse!!! The sunset was simply beautiful and in full view of the large decks that overlook the river. I put together 3 puzzles in the cozy sunroom surrounded by lots of lights and many windows. We slept comfortably in the master bed, The master shower? HUGE! You will love your stay here... Highly recommend!
Perfect cozy place to stay for my family coming from a major city. Country feel yet not country with access to everything any major city can offer. Clean residence and well maintained lawn. Fire pit, fire place, on the river with a bit of privacy was a great vibe. Host was amazing. Ultimately this was a great place to kick back, shower and sleep nice.

This property is very well stocked with items one might need for their stay. The hosts are very reachable and responsive. Love the riverfront hideaway.
The hosts are very kind and responsive. The property grounds were prettier in person, and we thought the pictures looked great. We stayed with 6 people and no one was cramped at all. Very comfortable, beautiful views, and great dock and fireplace!

We are writing this review with respect for the owners and in hopes this concern can be addressed for future guests. We selected this property based on its strong reviews, photos, and beautiful waterfront location.Unfortunately, during our stay we encountered multiple palmetto bugs (six over three nights), along with a persistent musty odor. Due to a resulting exacerbation of my fiancé’s bronchiectasis, we made the difficult decision to contact the owner and depart early, after only 3 of our 7 booked nights. For individuals with chronic lung conditions or compromised immune systems, exposure to palmetto allergens and environmental triggers can significantly impact respiratory health. We secured alternative accommodations for the remainder of our stay, which created a considerable inconvenience. As prior short-term rental owners ourselves, we understand that pest control—especially in waterfront properties—requires proactive and ongoing management. We share this feedback constructively and hope it helps improve the experience for future guests. Given the circumstances and the shortened stay, we would greatly appreciate consideration of a partial refund.Thank you for your time and understanding.

Thank you for your feedback. I was surprised and sorry to read your review, as during check-out you thanked us for the hospitality. When I followed up to ask if everything was okay, you mentioned your fiancée’s bronchiectasis flare-up, which we discussed could have been related to seasonal pollen. No other concerns were brought to my attention at that time.
We maintain the property with regular professional pest control and address any issues promptly. As an older waterfront property, occasional pests can occur, but we respond quickly whenever notified. Had we been aware of additional concerns during your stay, we would have taken care of them right away. We strive to be fair with our guests and provide refunds when an issue is within our control and it’s appropriate to do so. We’re sorry to hear about your fiancée’s discomfort and always encourage guests to reach out in real time so we can ensure the best possible experience.
This location was such a treat, and the property and riverfront were beautiful and peaceful. I’ve never experienced a rental that was fully equipped like this one was, it made the our time feel like home. The hosts were lovely, and very accommodating and empathetic to requests.
The house is in a perfect setting and absolutely amazing. We loved the quirkiness and character of the property and they way the history is preserved and celebrated. We have nothing negative to say and will definitely be looking to stay here again when we are in town.
Most beautiful house we have ever stayed in-exceeded all our expectations! Clean, cozy, comfortable, complete! Beautiful view of river. Everything you could want and more. Absolutely gorgeous!

About the host
Hosted by Beata Engl
Chris & I enjoy traveling and exploring with our 3 children and our sweet dog, Luna. We have previously lived in New York City and San Francisco, CA, but when we arrived in the Jacksonville area in 2014, we fell in love its sandy beaches, mossy oaks, and the Southern hospitality and charm. We have decided that the Jacksonville area is our favorite place to live and we warmly welcome you here! -Beata & Chris
Why they chose this property
The previous owners of this beautiful property, Katie and Everett, have done a great job setting it up as a vacation rental and have been welcoming guests since 2014. When Chris & I came across the log cabin and it's nostalgic charm in early 2020, we knew that we wanted to continue Katie & Everett's legacy and that it would be the perfect place to continue to welcome guests during their stay in the Jacksonville area.
What makes this property unique
This unique property boasts a historic log cabin that was built around a hundred years ago, when there was nothing but fields around it. Historically, it was owned by the American Boy Scouts, as well as a German-American Group. It features a beautiful stone chimney surrounded by rustic log walls and a wooden ceiling. It is situated directly on the river, allowing you to relax and enjoy what nature has to offer. It is the perfect place to get away from everyday life!
