About this property
EXCHANGE COTTAGE, family friendly in Tideswell
Situated in the very heart of the village of Tideswell, this lovingly restored, traditional terraced cottage dates back to the 1700s and was once part of a shop 'Chapmans of Tideswell', a newsagent and printing company
The property's unusual name was coined during the Second World War when the rear of what is now the kitchen was used as a telephone exchange. The sleek, modern interior of this cottage offers WiFi and great accommodation for a total of four people - sleeping arrangements being one double bedroom and one with adult bunk beds - and is only a short walk from local amenities, including excellent traditional pubs, local restaurants, intriguing curiosity shops, and an ice-cream parlour.
Amenities: Gas central heating with electric fire. Electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge, washing machine, TV, DVD, CD player, library of books/games/CDs, WiFi. Fuel & power inc. in rent. Bed linen & towels inc. in rent. Roadside parking opposite cottage. Off road parking within hundred yards. Sorry, no pets & no smoking. Shop & pub 1 min walk. Note: Arrival time at this property is 4pm.
Region: The ultimate in "year-round" appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.
Town: Situated in the heart of the picturesque Peak District National Park, the lovely village of Tideswell enjoys beautiful surroundings. Famous for its church, "The Cathedral of the Peaks", which was dedicated to St John the Baptist, the village is also noted for its unique well-dressing and carnival wakes. With the Peak District always a favourite amongst ramblers, there are some excellent hill walks over the northern rugged peaks and the gently undulating hills of the southern dales. Only a fifteen minute drive away is the popular spa town of Buxton, whilst closer to home are the charming Mam Tor and Castleton, though with a variety of fine country inns, excellent restaurants, a chemist, a butchers and a bakers shop, you might never need to leave the village of Tideswell.
