Beautiful and welcoming

Best location in Beaune! Just across the street from the old town yet secluded and quiet gardens and pool surrounded by tall private wall. Also the family were excellent hosts and provided lots of local info. If we are ever in Beaune again we will be back!

Great property, Great location

Our apartment was clean, comfortable, and quiet with a well-equipped kitchen. Location was ideal for a short walk into the old walled city as well as the gorgeous vineyards. Jean-Charles could not be more welcoming and provided numerous excellent ideas for day trips in the surrounding areas. We will definitely come back!

Wonderful Beaune

A wonderful stay in Beaune. Jean Charles and Isabelle were delightful and helpful hosts. The property is 10 minutes walk from the old town and in easy reach of many restaurants and shopping. Also only 10 minutes drive from nearest wine villages north and south. A perfect spot for wine lovers.

A true home away from home

My wife, baby daughter and I stayed at the secret garden for 7 nights in June and had the most amazing week. John-Jacques and Jocelyn looked after us so well and nothing was too much to ask. From help with the bbq, to bringing us ice creams on a hot day, they made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The property was also perfect, nice large rooms with a small but functional kitchenette. Our bedroom stayed nice and cool but John-Charles ordered us a fan to help keep our baby comfortable, a lovely gesture. The garden is very well kept and the pool was spotless. Location wise it's also a winner, being a 5 minute walk into Beaune with secure gated off street parking, perfect! I would highly recommend staying here and I hope we get the opportunity to visit again in the future. Thank you John-Charles, John-Jacques and Jocelyn for a lovely stay.

A Little Slice of Paradise

Way more than we expected. The owners really have a nice place in Beaune and everything is within walking distance. The owners are very nice and extremely helpful. They pointed us to all the places that we could go and even offered to make reservations at restaurants for us. The place itself is well kept and spacious with a very French and cozy feel to it. The kitchen had just about everything you'd need, however, we didn't use it during our short stay. The bed was comfortable. And even though the place is on the main blvd, it was quiet on the inside. Unfortunately the weather was a bit cold and rainy, otherwise, we could've enjoyed their rather large enclosed well-manicured yard & pool. But maybe we will enjoy it next time we return to Bourgogne. Thank you for the wonderful stay!

Perfection in Beaune

This review is very late in coming - a case of my husband thought I had reviewed it, and I thought he did. We stayed in this beautiful apartment June 13th thru June 20, 2015. We were looking through photos of our trip recently due to planning another European vacation - and were transported back to our wonderful stay in Beaune. From the moment we arrived in The Secret Garden (a perfect name for it!) we were in love - with both the space, and the owners. They could not have been more welcoming and helpful. The apartment and surrounding pool, multi-patio area - spotless and beautiful. The apartment was spacious and lovely - and at the risk of repeating myself, spotlessly clean. It was very well equipped and we could not have been happier there. We rented bikes and biked thru the vineyards. We had rented another house in Beaune a couple of years earlier (which was nice but cannot compare with The Secret Garden) with our daughter and son-in-law and did the bike ride with them, and knew we wanted to return and do that again. It did not disappoint. You bike thru villages, stop for a wine tasting, enjoy the beautiful scenery ...... great way to spend the day! The Secret Garden is also within easy walking distance of everything - and the Old Town of Beaune is lovely. We revisited restaurants we had gone to with our daughter and son-in-law, our favorite being Le Goret, which was delicious and fun. Many great restaurants in town and the surrounding area. But we also cooked a couple of times, enjoying the market close by (5 minutes by car) and the patio right outside our kitchen door. We did have a rental car (nice, private parking within a secure area) and explored the gorgeous surrounding area. Lots to see and do - or - just relax by the pool and hope that Jocelyn cooks up some of her delicious appetizers and shares with you! She is an amazing cook - also whipped us up a wonderful cocktail involving champagne :) We would definitely not hesitate to recommend this property to friends/family. (The latest date this allowed me was June 2016, but - we stayed on the above mentioned dates - one year sooner)

Excellent and Charming Apartment in Beaune

We had a wonderful five day stay in Beaune. Le Jardin Secret de Beaune is a true treasure, and Jean-Charles, the owner, made our stay truly memorable. We arrived by car after dark, and he was waiting for us, immediately opening the gate to his property to let us park. And, after helping us with our luggage, arrived to welcome us to Beaune by making two glasses of kir in the apartment. The apartment was large, with an ample living, dining, and kitchen room, an equally gracious bedroom, and one of the largest bathrooms I’ve ever seen containing both a bathroom and a shower. Everything was immaculate. Since we visited in March, the pool was not in use, but the location of Le Secret Jardin is such that all of Beaune is an easy walk from the apartment. Jean-Charles took the time also to tell us of restaurants close by that he recommended, and let us know of events, such as a wine tasting in Nuits St. George’s, that were happening near by. We recommend Le Jardin Secret de Beaune in the highest possible terms, and look forward to visiting Jean-Charles again in the future.

Beautiful Beaune!

This property was one of our very favorite VRBO rentals. The location was across the street from the old walled city and the ramparts which made for easy walking around the town. The owner, Jean Charles, and his family were very welcoming and helpful. He provided transportation to and from the train station and was very helpful in providing information and suggestions for dining, sightseeing, and wine tasting experiences. He arranged a private wine tasting and dinner for us at a small cave nearby which was a highlight of our stay. The property is very spacious and tastefully furnished with all necessities including a map and directions to nearby grocery store, bakery, cheese shop, etc. It has a lovely garden with pool and sitting areas. Beaune is a lovely, historic old town and we hope to return one day and will definitely stay at the Secret Garden! Bob & Paula

A memorable holiday in Beaune

We booked this property as it was a 1 bedroom property with a pool in Burgundy... But in reality it is so much more than that. You are instantly made at home by Jean-Charles and Isobelle and nothing seems to be too much trouble for them especially by making sure we were comfortable during the extreme heat France was suffering during our stay We took their advice and booked several off the beaten track restaurants that we would never have found by ourselves and were rewarded with some of the best french food I have eaten ever. The accommodation is within walking distance of the walled city of Beaune and no matter how many times we walked in we always found something new to investigate. Beaune is on a SNCF train track so city day trips to Dijon and Lyon are easily achieved. With a car Geneva is a couple of hours one way with the tranquility of The Morvan an hour the other way I’m now trying to find reasons to make this a regular booking in our holiday calendar. Faultless and Thank You!

Wonderful, Formidable!!

Very clean, private although we enjoyed spending time with Jean-Charles and Isabel. They have two young boys who my wife adored. But they are also very discreet and ensured we had privacy and quiet time too. Clean property, large, conveniently located, well-appointed apartment with lots of outdoor dining and relaxation places, The pool is fantastic on hot days. Will be back for sure.

Beautiful property and fantastic hosts

This is a beautiful property in the old town Beaune. You can walk everywhere within the town centre where there are plenty of restaurants and places to do wine tastings. The market on Saturday morning was incredible. The apartment we stayed in was beautiful and quite large with a big bathroom and a separate entrance. The yard is quite large and had room to park our vehicle. The pool area also looked very nice, but as the weather was rainy we did not get a chance to enjoy it. Jean Charles and Isabella were wonderful hosts and very accomodating to all of our needs. The night we arrived we had a cocktail together and they gave us wonderful recommendations for restaurants and things to do around town, and even made some reservations for us. We received almost immediate responses when we messaged them on the VRBO app to ask about restaurant reservations or how to use the washing machine. We really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it.

Lovely, Quiet Location within walking distance of everything in Beaune

Not much to add to all the previous positive reviews. Communications with the owner, Jean-Charles, was always timely and his directions for finding the apartment were accurate. His parents, Jean-Jack and Jocelyne, live on site and warmly welcomed us when we arrived. Jean-Jack helped me get our car into the off street parking (nice to be parked inside the walls of the property instead of on the busy street). This was the largest of all the apartments we rented during our 4 weeks in France - the bedroom alone was larger than the whole apartment in Paris. The yard was pleasantly large and quiet and sitting under the grape vines sipping wine while watching the sunset was divine. They provided maps, brochures for things to do, a list of restaurants and even helped us make some local phone calls since we did not have cell service on our phones. We could not have asked for more from our hosts or the property. Definitely recommend this rental. Our thanks to Jean-Charles, Jean-Jack and Jocelyne for making our stay one we will pleasantly remember.

One of Burgundy's Best!

This is an ideal place to make your home base for day trips throughout the Burgundy countryside. The apartment has its own separate entrance which lies behind the walls of the secret garden where your car is also securely parked. The property is literally across the street from the entrance to the walled city of Beaune, which is a beautiful old world french village. It's an easy day trip to Dijon, which is a much larger city, but we preferred the atmosphere in Beaune. The apt has a sunny living room, private bedroom and full bath with tub & shower. The water pressure is very good. The kitchen is euro (small) but functional and the wifi works really well! The hosts, Jean-Jacques, Jocelyn and their son Jean-Charles were very gracious and really fun! They gave us terrific recommendations for dining, sight seeing, and places to visit along countryside roads through the villages of the Burgundy Wine Road. We enjoyed the Beaune museums and would recommend this location for anyone who wants a relaxing vacation in a beautiful setting of a walled French Village. We did notice the restaurants in Beaune do not stay open as late as they do in Lyon & Paris, so plan to dine a bit earlier. However, you will be rewarded with excellent cuisine, safe streets, friendly people and a gorgeous night time art exhibit that projects moving images on the walls of local landmarks for a night time light show that is spectacular. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting here and will be recommending it to our friends who plan to visit Burgundy. Thank you Jean-Jacques, Jocelyn & Jean-Charles for a terrific visit to Beaune!

Endroit idéal pour vivre la Bourgogne!

Nous avons adoré notre séjour au Jardin secret, tout juste en face des remparts de la ville. Idéal pour visiter Beaune et la Bourgogne. Nos hôtes ont été des plus accueillants et généreux, tout en étant discrets. Appartement très propre, confortable, spacieux et décoré avec de belles œuvres d'art. Tout ce qu'il faut pour cuisiner, nous y avons pris plusieurs repas, toujours accompagnés de bons vins de Bourgogne. Le jardin est grand, avec de beaux arbres, des fleurs, des vignes et des oiseaux. Nous nous sommes sentis choyés de pouvoir en profiter. Ameublement de jardin créant plusieurs lieux intimes. Une belle piscine aussi, à l'eau... vivifiante! Au moment où nous y étions, fin septembre, les nuits étaient trop fraîches pour maintenir l'eau chaude, mais nous l'avons tout de même appréciée. Plusieurs commerces à proximité, dont une excellente poissonnerie, boulangerie, boucher et restaurants. Tout se fait à pied. La véloroute Voie des vignes tout près de l'appartement, un must! Vous roulerez à travers les vignobles de grands crus. De toute beauté, à faire absolument! Nous vous recommandons cette location. Un grand merci à nos hôtes Jocelyne et Jean-Jack.

Really nice property, owners were very helpful. Unfortunately the weather was not good so unable to enjoy the heated pool. Property within a few minutes walk of restaurants, tourist attractions etc. Private gated parking was an added bonus, Would recommend this property.

Comfort and friendliness

Le Jardin Secret de Beaune is exactly as described. A hidden gem within easy walking distance of the restaurants and shops in Beaune. When you arrive there is no clue to the beautiful place you will stay in except for a very nice wall. Jean Jacues and Jocelyn could not have been more welcoming. The little house is spacious. The kitchen is tiny but there is everything you need to make your own meals if you want to. Jean-Jacques helps light the barbecue if you need it and cleans it up for you. The bed is comfortable the bathroom enormous and there are more towels than even a teenager could use. The garden is a delight. I am a fan of swimming in the pool was great and beautifully clean. When we had dinner at home in the evening some nights Jocelyn brought beautiful candles all around where we were sitting. I lost a ring. Jocelyn was more than helpful in trying to find it and in offering to call the hotel where I may have left it. High praise for this place.
