About this property

Eco-Bach inside a kiwi sanctuary

Off grid house inside Waiaro Sanctuary. 200 acres of pristine native forest, untouched streams and all the privacy and peace you could want within a managed wildlife sanctuary. Recognised by Environment Waikato as the most important private ecological site in Waikato/Coromandel Peninsula.

Has resident kiwi, woodpigeon, bellbird, kaka, brown teal, etc. plus streams full of happy native fish.

Outdoor bath with amazing view, hammocks beneath the trees, and two big decks to relax on at the house.

Comfortable 4 bedroom solar-powered off-grid house with 4 bedrooms. Beds are 1 Queen, 2 x Double, 3 x single + 1 trundle bed. Large flat parkland for ball games, frisbee, croquet, etc.

No hunting, fishing or eeling in the Sanctuary - plenty of fish in the sea close at hand if you need them. Also absolutely no dogs as Kiwi are close by.

An escape from phones, noise, and the madding crowd. Unique.

IMPORTANT: Kauri die-back disease is killing Kauri in Auckland and Northland. We do not have this disease in Coromandel. It is spread (they think) by footwear. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE scrub all shoes you bring up to our sanctuary. Do not be the one to kill Coromandel's Kauri. It is not worth the risk. Scrub them even if they are clean. THANKS!!
Special conditions:
$800 week off-peak
Smoking outside only.
Absolutely no dogs or cats.

Extras: Cleaning (Required, NZ$50.00 per stay); Linen (included); Guided bush walk (Optional, NZ$0.00 per person);

Beautiful hideaway
We had a fabulous time here (despite the unseasonal cyclone!). Home is well equiped, spacious and comfortable. Beautiful large garden that we all played in in the rain. Saw the glowworms down in the creek at nightime which was amazing. Was so lovely and peaceful truely being away from it all. Unfortunately we didn't get chance to explore the region more because of the weather, so will definitely be back hoping for better weather!
