We had a lovely stay in an amazing house. Was very private and spacious. Will definitely recommend to friends and will book again on our next visit if available. Could have done with some fans as it was quite muggy. We bought some for our stay and gave them to whanau when we left.
Beautiful home. Lovely location. Very quiet. Farm animals keep you company. Driveway is very steep and turn around room is minimal if more than 2 vehicles. Otherwise the property has everything required. Would recommend.
Exciting very steep and somewhat slippery drive on a dark wet night!
Furnishings and cooking equipment adequate.
Beautiful situation to wake up in.

A lovely place in a great location.
10am is very early to have to leave by. Even harder when you have to wash all sheets and hang them. We all bought our own sheets to skip that part.
Enjoyed our time there though.
Great set up and environmentally sound. House is well placed for the sun being warm in winter and cool in summer.

Quiet and peaceful
Very nice secluded setting conveniently located for us while being quiet and peaceful. Some confusion over cleaning requirement - online information said that we needed to leave the house clean, which we took to mean that we needed to clean the house. But owner arrived at leaving time to "do the cleaning" she said! More 'friendly' advice would have been helpful.
The devan “bed” has a very hard area in the middle - not suitable for adults.
Oven knobs have no labeling decals so impossible to see which way is low / high.
Lovely house on the outskirts of the city.
Queried whether there were stairs to property for elderly family member, but received no response. Had to book as running out of options. Thankfully there were no stairs to contend with getting into the house even though pictures on internet shows house on hillside on stilts.
Early wakeup call from nearby lambs playing.
Would stay again.
Overall the property is quite nice but it could be great.
It is very hot in Gisborne and there is no air con - this would have been a nice additional feature (and worth paying a little extra for). Some of the carpet is getting worn on the edges and exposing the naplock bar underneath which has very sharp 'nails' so you need to be careful if not wearing shoes. The setting is very nice and although 'rural' is very close to the city (5 mins).

2/10 Terrible

Nice house in a lovely location.
Nice house in a lovely location. However sadly the cleaning lets this place down. Toilet disgusting not cleaned at all. Dog hair all over the sheets and bed not even properly made. Found 5 cockroaches throughout our two days staying there. I emailed the owner to tell her my concerns and got an email back saying check in was at 4pm even though she agreed to me arriving at 3pm. She also said that the place was not cleaned. Terrible!
we contacted the property manager for an earlier book in and was no problem at all. Our only concern was a message on message list could we please wash the sheets after use. Was a bit of a shock as we wanted an early start. Did not say how to dry. Luckily for us we had out own sheets with us so used them instead and re-made the beds with the batch sheets. Was a shame we could not stay longer as house big and the gardens a delight.
Lovely and clean. Very presentable.
It was very cold and there were only 10 pine cones , 1 very large piece of wood, 1 match and 1 firelighter for a 2 night stay. No other means of heating. We located a wood shed at the entrance of the driveway but weren't sure whether we should be using this supply, we did!
More communication around where to access wood and supplying adequate means to start a fire would have been very appreciated. We did fell like we were pilfering the wood.
We left early in the morning so left our laundry to dry in the bathroom. We noticed a lot of linen hanging underneath the house but weren't sure whether we should add to that or not.
Great set up. Check out at 10 given we are washing sheets etc is a little early- 11 would be much better,. Lovely seeing the goats though they often sound like a child crying which is a bit disconcerting . My only criticism is the cleanliness,. You are at the mercy of the people staying befor you and the previous people didn't wipe down sides or wash up properly, so it was a nuisance washing cutlery and crockery before using,.
If sides are not wiped down flies, roaches and ants are a problem,., !!! cleaning spray does the trick and only takes a moment.
Thanks

Nice sunny house amongst the hills. Great location being close to town.
We wouldn’t stay again for a few reasons.
Beds were the most uncomfortable we’ve ever had, springs poking into our ribs when sleeping on our sides. Our two year old daughter slept on one of the single beds and it rocked every time she rolled over.
You are expected to do all the cleaning but the vaccum cleaner is faulty, the dishwasher was broken and all linen is needed to be washed by 10am checkout?
We took our own sheets to avoid this.
We had a few light bulbs blow during our stay and also the carpet is so old and wearing away that the carpet tacks are exposed and very very sharp if stood on.
For the price paid, we would expect much more.
We could not access the swabs for the outside chairs as they were locked in the cupboard in the lounge and we did not have the key to the lounge. This meant the chairs were uncomfortable to sit on. My friends thought their beds were uncomfortable. Tge blinds did not shut out all the light from the lounge so the person who slept in the lounge was woken up by the sunlight at 5am. It was also a bit much to wash the sheets - it took 5 washing machine loads to do all this washing. Other than this it was a great property with great country views, with nice decks from which to enjoy the views.
We enjoyed our stay at this Property, the house was just down the road from a really lovely farm walk with gorgeous panoramic views and being semi rural felt like you were in your own world - very peaceful but with easy access to town if you needed to pop in
The house was clean and tidy with plenty of linen, cutlery. There were a couple of wee issues, and this is just for general feedback really
1. The oven markings have been rubbed off so we had no idea of the temperature or function of the oven so didn't know if we were baking or grilling
2. The toaster kept blowing the house fuses so we gave up using it in the end
3. Having to do the laundry before we left for three rooms was really tricky as our flight home was 9am
4. The bed in the main room was very squeaky so if you moved during the night it would wake you
These are just really small things, and would for sure stay again :)

Lovely clean, contemporary light filled home in beautiful setting. But what a shame - thats where it ended. Host had warned us about dishwasher not working - we were fine with that. But oven didn’t work, wifi not working, no 2nd bathroom as advertised, which we needed. 2nd bdrm very hard cheap mattress. Sheets on beds were strange transparent fluffy nylon - lots of static electricity which we decided not to sleep in, so we changed them. Sheets in linen cupboard in VERY POOR condition - threadbare pilled sheets not fit for op shop. We messaged host asking to phone us twice. She didn’t. Message for guests not welcoming - just a list of “don’t dos” (including “don’t take plants or soil out of the garden”?) It’s such a pity, because with a little bit more care it could have been a great experience.
