Cottage, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, (Sleeps 9)
I came from a dairy farm on boring flat land near Thames so when I married Zane, I was able to tramp and ride horses over this unique, exhilirating landscape where you never know what you'll see around the corner or over the next hill. I used to look after all the 5 accommo houses on the farm and took many generations of visiting families to do cow milking and animal feeding. But now with getting older and more tired, I have given a house each for our daughter and 2 daughters-in-law to look after. Just having one house to look after and no more animal activities, is much easier -- PHEW !!
NgaireE5 purchased this Farmhouse in 1945
Why NgaireE5 chose Colville
Our farmhouse was built in 1945 out of the best timber left over from the original homestead built in 1870. ..... After coming from Wales in 1864, the Evans' cleared the land of the lovely Kauri trees which were taken back to England to build ships. Then later they started farming -- sheep, milking cows and now Hereford cattle. The calves are sold when they are 6 months old for breeding and fattening further. Our grandchildren are the 7th generation -- 3 generations are still living on the farm. It is really special for all of us to be able to live here on our beautiful land and to have the opportunity to share it with others :)

Awesome little place
Will definitely be returning to this place. Exactly what we expected to see. It was such a bliss with 4 kids absolutely loving the wide open spaces.
We loved the little white house and the freedom we had to go anywhere on the farm. The Bush walks where the best.
Lovely spot just marked cleanliness low as we had to wash most of the dishes before we used them.
All beds were made up ready to use, which was great. But on the website suggested only double bed made up. So we ended up taking bedding that we didn't use. Still a fabulous place to stay and our dog had a ball!
A brilliant long weekend stay on the farm. The kids simply loved it and we had a very relaxing time!
Brilliant farm stay. Lovely bach and fantastic setting.
Wonderful guests I’d highly recommend and would love to have stay again, thanks 👍😁
Perfect Rustic Retreat
OK you're not getting the Hilton here. No luxuries. No special touches. No truffled chocolates and bottle of bubbles. What you ARE getting is a slice of kiwi life that's as authentic as it is unique. Do yourself a favour and escape for a weekend to a lifestyle that your grandparents (and their parents) would have been used to. That said, it's all clean and comfortable. But you'll likely find yourself wandering through the farm and up the hills into some of the most peaceful and magical landscapes in the region, if not the country. I brought my dog and we did some great walks. All in all a wonderful, authentic and very special kiwi experience. Loved it.
ALL ACTIVITIES on farm and off, are written about in blue info book situated on kitchen table.
Includes horsetrekking, bush walks, waterfalls, scenic Coromandel range-top views, glowworms, swimming in creek, walking through cows and sheep etc
