Great vacation home

Close proximity to beach and pier village, close/walking distance to restaurants and shopping, lovely pool and garden setting with plenty of shade, cozy decorations and comfortable for large family, lots of games and books and nice kitchen for cooking.

Fun Home with lots of space

This was great for my husband and I. The location was perfect and the house itself was really cool. I loved the pool and the stained glass throught the house. This is an older home and the charm shows through. If you're looking for modern, you'll still get some of that with the design choices.

Great location and great for big family!

Location is so close to beach! Clean with a large living room area. Kitchen is large and great for cooking!! Loved the big window that opens to pool. Hot tub and pool were amazing for a big crowd. Our only issue was hot tub and pool were cold for two days even though we paid for heat. Great vacation!

Wonderful home layout with comfy beds. Needs new living room furniture. Close to beach, but be prepared for loud neighbors. Pool is dirty from yard vegetation. Overall, needs better cleaning and some TLC.

Great Location, Unfortunate Experience

Great location for myself and 7 other adults to stay, however there were several issues we encountered while we stayed and still have not heard back from anyone to discuss. Unfortunately, there was a large rain storm and the entire property flooded, including the backyard with the pool which made the pool unusable for the entire trip, which is why we chose the house to stay in. Several sections of the flooring were missing and the upstairs shower did not drain making it unusable. These items were reported through Vacasa 3 times, and I have still yet to hear from anyone about it. During the flood, there were also visible sparks coming from the outdoor lighting. There were also several spots of rain leaking through the roof and down the wall throughout the home. Some of our guests experienced a mildew smell in the bedding- and please beware if you are traveling with adults, three of the beds are much smaller than the rest with two bunk bed mattresses on the floor. It is unfortunate that throughout all of these concerns, we could not get any response from the property managers to discuss. Blame cannot be placed for a large storm, but the aftermath was handled poorly.

Not good. The yard is overgrown and needs love. The pool needs drained and cleaned. The furniture in the common living area is old. The tv in the LR didnt work. The wifi didnt work. The management compamy doewnt qork. The front door needs a serious replacementm good luck with this rental!

Two family beach vacation

House was beautifully decorated and appointed and extremely clean. Great location, easy walk to the beach and shops and restaurants. Kitchen was easy to cook in and we used pool and spa more than I thought we would. The only thing I would point out is that the room with the double and two singles consists of bunk beds, including a top single that is shorter than a standard-sized single mattress and the double and other single are on the floor. It worked well for our teens/older kids and would be perfect for little kids, but adults would likely be uncomfortable there. Speaking of comfort, the mattresses and bedding were extremely comfortable (not something I would have expected in a rental).

Lovely Older Home in a Great Location

Traveled with my adult son, daughter, and li'l pup. Stayed 3 nights and opted for late check out Wed. We really loved this vacation home. Lots of space with many places to sit, lounge, and relax - inside and outdoors. The front porch swing was so relaxing and the foliage in the back yard was gorgeous. Amazing fully-equipped kitchen. Refreshing pool, and enchanting decor. Yes, it's an older home, but so unique and charming. We didn't have young children with us, but I'm sure families with kiddos would enjoy the adorable bunk bed room (3 beds total) w/an ensuite tub/shower combo that adjoins another bathroom via a sliding door. All the bedrooms have their own ensuites - the other 3 have nice large showers. 3 Bedrooms & baths on the main level and one double bedroom "suite" upstairs w/its 3/4 bathroom. There are TVs in all the bedrooms and the living room. Stackable W/D in a laundry room off the entrance. The host provided a standing fan and box fan to augment the central air. Lots of large beach towels, too, for the beach that's only a block away! Great walk for the pup! Lots of delicious eateries and fun shops nearby, as well. Soft "cons" & recommendations: Coffee maker is crap. Recommend it be replaced. Some of the outlet placements are challenging. But you should be fine if you bring a power strip or two. The kitchen lighting is very dim. The stove lights and stove griddle wouldn't turn on - don't know if that's user error or an appliance issue. The house is on a main road, and many cars tend to speed, so keep the gate closed for the safety of your small children and kiddos. But overall, excellent vacation home on St. Simons Island that we would love to stay in again!

BEWARE : This is a catfish property. There were open electrical outlets and an exposed live wire hanging from the ceiling. Vacasa sent someone out to tie it up higher where it was unreachable. The house has clearly not had any maintenance in a long time. The pictures are over 10 years old. There were nails sticking out of the floor in the upstairs bathroom in front of the toilet and concrete tiles missing in the pool area and the fence is falling away from the property. The deck has rotten and loose boards. The upstairs lookout area (which is not open to guest bc the railings fell off) is so hot that we had to put a blanket up to block the hot air. The mattress upstairs is unsleepable. There is a metal cage covering on the front door that can be unlocked where someone can open and undo the deadbolt and enter the home. EVERYTHING was dilapidated or broken. The gas oven only had a couple eyes working, the lights and fan knob was only usable with pliers and that eventually broke off and we could not turn the lights off, shutters were broken, creeping fig has grown over the whole property and we had to pull it away from steps because we were getting our feet caught in the vines. The property needs A LOT of work and we were informed that the owner won’t approve the improvements, but Vacasa is still renting it like it’s up to par. I don’t have enough time to list my disappointment and frustration that I was catfished with this property. Toilet back were broken, no tub stop for the

You can’t beat the location of this property. However, there are many things that need work. For example, the pool heater is broken. Most light fixtures don’t work and common amenities like a washer and dryer have issues.

Super cute home, poor communication & guest service

The location of this home was great and perfect for a beach weekend, however there was a very large storm on the day that we arrived and the entire property flooded (water up to shin height in front and backyard), and the pool also flooded. Electrical sparks were seen coming from the backyard during the flooding, which was reported to Vacasa staff but not addressed to my knowledge. The roof was leaking in several spots and the shower upstairs was not draining therefore unusable. The shower had very sharp, broken tile and the room upstairs had parts of the floor missing & covered by a rug. Once the flooding subsided, unfortunately the pool was filthy and brown. Someone from a pool company came out to work on it the following day but since it was so dirty, it was not clean/usable for our stay (and we purposefully chose a home with a pool). We have tried no less than 5 times to get in contact with the local management to discuss, but each time have only been able to contact the generic Vacasa staff who simply sends messages over to them to address, which is no fault to the Vacasa staff. The communication was unfortunately very poor and unprofessional- but the house is super cute and is in a great location!! I completely understand that weather cannot be controlled, but several issues with the home went unaddressed with us and we have yet to speak with the local team about it. Loved St. Simon’s Island as a first-timer!

Beach vacay

We loved the charm and location. It was an easy walk to the beach. We also loved how less crowded the beach was in this location. It is an older home and needs a little TLC, but we didn’t mind. It was a great fit for our family. We had 5 kids and 4 adults and we had plenty of room. It would have been nice if the overlook was fixed up. The backyard was nice, but you really don’t have any views of the beach.

Overall Good

We recently stayed at this home on St. Simons and overall had a good experience, mostly due to the great location. It's close to everything, and the neighborhood is lovely. The house itself definitely has good bones but could use some updates. It has a bit of a shabby feel, but nothing that stopped us from enjoying our time.A few things to note: the downstairs AC doesn’t work very well. We were there during cooler weather, so it wasn’t a huge issue, but I imagine it could be pretty uncomfortable in the summer. The stove also has several burners that don’t work, which was a bit frustrating when trying to cook.The top bunk bed is really only suitable for a small child—there's not much headroom or legroom up there. That said, the outdoor pool area is nice and was one of our favorite spots to hang out and relax.All in all, the house needs some TLC, but the location and layout make it a solid choice if you’re not expecting luxury. We'd stay again, especially if some of the little issues get addressed.

Update your property

Good location - close to town and beach. VRBO photos of property need to be more current. Exterior lighting entering/exiting the home could be brighter - missing bulbs. Heated spa/pool could be warmer. Musty smell upon entering property home most times. Missing the weber grill that was in backyard photo. Wouid have wanted to grill outdoors a night or two. Lighter fluid was located below sink so where was the grill?Oven did not heat up!! What’s the trick??

Nothing but issues

Booked this place 8 months in advance. The phone number given to contact the host is not a working number. Inquired 3 different times about having the pool heated. Didn’t get an answer back until the day of check-in. Right before check in, we were told the downstairs a/c was not working. Everything except one bedroom is on the bottom floor, so essentially the entire house was without a/c for the entirety of our stay. NO A/C! we were given a couple cheap box fans and a small portable a/c that was useless. The “heated jacuzzi” that I paid extra for, was barely warm. 85°. The ceiling fan in the living room has a big sign that says “fan is decorative only”. This seems to be what the host does with any item that doesn’t work—instead of getting it fixed. We were told on our first day that the a/c was to be fixed ASAP, and that it would probably be done before we checked in. Come to find out, the host got a few estimates to fix the issue, but the estimates were “more than they were willing to pay”, so we went without a/c for the entirety of our 5 day stay. There was a tarp suspended over the pool for shade. It had so much debris/broken tree branches/dirt on it that it was sagging down about 2 feet over the pool at the lowest point. The pool was also FILTHY. The house water was shut off for 24 hours at one point too. We couldn’t shower/use bathrooms that day. Last day I found roaches in the master bathroom also. I wish I had more space to write. DON’T STAY HERE.

House was nice and accommodated our needs! Close to beach and great location! Watched fireworks on the 4th from beach!! One room did have a double and single bed that sits on floor. Upstairs has AC unit only for one of the sleeping areas. Can get hot in the other sleeping area! Outside could be cleaned up more, but it was ok! Loved the open kitchen, dining and living area!! Very spacious!

Great family beach home.

Secret Garden Oasis was a fabulous dog-friendly beach house in a perfect location close to everything St. Simons Island has to offer. There was plenty of space for everyone and the beds were all comfortable. We did have a slight issue with the main TV but Vacasa staff were super quick to respond and offer assistance. This is an older house with so much southern charm and the dipping pool was perfect for cooling off after the beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Spacious but left wanting

We easily fit 2 families into the house, great sleeping arrangements. We enjoyed the kitchen and living space, but exposed outlets, broken widow’s nest with no access (though it looked like it would have been amazing), promise of a heated pool in January but having nothing, and missing windows, tv remotes, and backyard issues (shade lining was covered in debri, playhouse covered in moss) just left us wishing we could have enjoyed what was promised to us more.
