About this property

Larsen's Cottage #2: Historic 1880 Home

Take it easy at this unique and historic cottage in Mount Victoria. These wonderful cottages were built in 1880 by father of famous Australian bush poet, Henry Lawson. The cottages have preserved special original features with modern comforts. Enjoy a private front veranda, private rear patio, and share a large meandering cottage garden. The perfect romantic escape for couples, or home base for small families looking to relax and enjoy a historic Blue Mountains getaway.

This cottage is one of two attached heritage-listed terrace houses built in 1880 by the father of legendary Australian bush poet, Henry Lawson.

They were commissioned for John Berghofer, an important forefather of the Blue Mountains, who constructed the original road through Mount Victoria.

The cottages have been lovingly restored with special original features preserved, and a few modern comforts added. Enjoy a morning coffee or breakfast on the private sunny patio surrounded by cottage gardens, and cosy evenings curled up by the crackling fireplace with a glass of wine and a good book.

Please feel free to ask for any more details!

Mount Victoria is very quiet and blissfully calm. There are no crowds of tourists, rows of shops or busy restaurants. We think this makes our village extra special, however if you are looking for lots of shopping and busy lookouts, the cottage is only 15-20 minutes by car or train from the more well-known tourist hotspots of Katoomba or Leura.

The cottage is located conveniently close to Mount Victoria train station, with fantastic cafes, quirky antique stores, gift shops, parks and spectacular scenic lookouts only steps from the front door.
